तस्मिन् क्षेत्रवरे पुण्ये दुर्लभे पुरुषोत्तमे उज्जहार स्वयं तोयात् समुद्रः सरितां पतिः
In that excellent, sacred, and rare field of Purushottama, the ocean, lord of rivers, himself raised it from the waters.
तदा प्रभृति तत्रैव क्षेत्रे मुक्तिप्रदे द्विजाः आस्ते स देवो देवानां सर्वकामफलप्रदः
From that time onward, in that very field granting liberation, the god abides, bestower of all desired fruits to the gods.
ये संश्रयन्ति चानन्तं भक्त्या सर्वेश्वरं प्रभुम् वाङ्मनःकर्मभिर् नित्यं ते यान्ति परमं पदम्
Those who take refuge in Ananta, the Lord of all, with devotion—by word, mind, and deed—always attain the supreme state.
दृष्ट्वानन्तं सकृद् भक्त्या संपूज्य प्रणिपत्य च राजसूयाश्वमेधाभ्यां फलं दशगुणं लभेत्
Seeing Ananta even once with devotion, worshipping and bowing down, one obtains ten times the fruit of a Rajasuya or Ashvamedha sacrifice.
सर्वकामसमृद्धेन कामगेन सुवर्चसा विमानेनार्कवर्णेन किङ्किणीजालमालिना
In a celestial chariot, radiant as the sun, adorned with a network of tinkling bells, endowed with every desired pleasure and shining with the brilliance of fulfillment of wishes—
त्रिःसप्तकुलम् उद्धृत्य दिव्यस्त्रीगणसेवितः उपगीयमानो गन्धर्वैर् नरो विष्णुपुरं व्रजेत्
Having uplifted twenty-one generations of his lineage, served by groups of divine women, and praised by Gandharvas, a man attains the city of Vishnu.
तत्र भुक्त्वा वरान् भोगाञ् जरामरणवर्जितः दिव्यरूपधरः श्रीमान् यावद् आभूतसंप्लवम्
There, enjoying excellent pleasures, free from old age and death, possessing a divine and splendid form, he remains until the dissolution of creation.
पुण्यक्षयाद् इहायातश् चतुर्वेदी द्विजोत्तमः वैष्णवं योगम् आस्थाय ततो मोक्षम् अवाप्नुयात्
When his merit is exhausted, returning here, the best of twice-born who knows the four Vedas, by taking up Vaishnava yoga, then attains liberation.
एवं मया त्व् अनन्तो ऽसौ कीर्तितो मुनिसत्तमाः कः शक्नोति गुणान् वक्तुं तस्य वर्षशतैर् अपि
Thus have I described to you his endless greatness, O best of sages; who could recount his virtues even in a hundred years?
एवं वो ऽनन्तमाहात्म्यं क्षेत्रं च पुरुषोत्तमम् भुक्तिमुक्तिप्रदं नॄणां मया प्रोक्तं सुदुर्लभम्
Thus I have told you of the boundless glory of this supreme field, which grants enjoyment and liberation to people, and is extremely rare.
यत्रास्ते पुण्डरीकाक्षः शङ्खचक्रगदाधरः पीताम्बरधरः कृष्णः कंसकेशिनिषूदनः
There dwells Krishna, the lotus-eyed, bearer of conch, discus, and mace, clad in yellow garments, the slayer of Kamsa and Keshi.
ये तत्र कृष्णं पश्यन्ति सुरासुरनमस्कृतम् संकर्षणं सुभद्रां च धन्यास् ते नात्र संशयः
Those who see Krishna there, worshipped by gods and demons, along with Sankarshana and Subhadra, are truly blessed—of this there is no doubt.
त्रैलोक्याधिपतिं देवं सर्वकामफलप्रदम् ये ध्यायन्ति सदा कृष्णं मुक्तास् ते नात्र संशयः
Those who always meditate on Krishna, the Lord of the three worlds and bestower of all desires, are liberated—of this there is no doubt.
कृष्णे रताः कृष्णम् अनुस्मरन्ति रात्रौ च कृष्णं पुनर् उत्थिता ये ते भिन्नदेहाः प्रविशन्ति कृष्णं हविर् यथा मन्त्रहुतं हुताशम्
Those who are devoted to Krishna, who remember him at night and again upon rising, their separate bodies enter into Krishna, just as an offering poured with mantra enters the sacrificial fire.
तस्मात् सदा मुनिश्रेष्ठाः कृष्णः कमललोचनः तस्मिन् क्षेत्रे प्रयत्नेन द्रष्टव्यो मोक्षकाङ्क्षिभिः
Therefore, O best of sages, Krishna, the lotus-eyed, should be diligently seen in that field by those who desire liberation.
शयनोत्थापने कृष्णं ये पश्यन्ति मनीषिणः हलायुधं सुभद्रां च हरेः स्थानं व्रजन्ति ते
Those wise ones who see Krishna, Sankarshana, and Subhadra at the time of lying down and rising, attain the abode of Hari.
सर्वकाले ऽपि ये भक्त्या पश्यन्ति पुरुषोत्तमम् रौहिणेयं सुभद्रां च विष्णुलोकं व्रजन्ति ते
Those who, at all times and with devotion, see the Supreme Person, Rauhineya, and Subhadra, attain the world of Vishnu.
आस्ते यश् चतुरो मासान् वार्षिकान् पुरुषोत्तमे पृथिव्यास् तीर्थयात्रायाः फलं प्राप्नोति चाधिकम्
Whoever stays for four months of the rainy season in Purushottama on earth attains a fruit greater than that of pilgrimage to holy places.
ये सर्वकालं तत्रैव निवसन्ति मनीषिणः जितेन्द्रिया जितक्रोधा लभन्ते तपसः फलम्
Those wise ones who always reside there, with senses and anger subdued, obtain the fruit of austerity.
तपस् तप्त्वान्यतीर्थेषु वर्षाणाम् अयुतं नरः यद् आप्नोति तद् आप्नोति मासेन पुरुषोत्तमे
Whatever result a man obtains by performing austerity at other holy places for ten thousand years, that he attains in a single month at Purushottama.
तपसा ब्रह्मचर्येण सङ्गत्यागेन यत् फलम् तत् फलं सततं तत्र प्राप्नुवन्ति मनीषिणः
The fruit gained by austerity, celibacy, and renunciation of attachment, that fruit the wise always obtain there.
सर्वतीर्थेषु यत् पुण्यं स्नानदानेन कीर्तितम् तत् फलं सततं तत्र प्राप्नुवन्ति मनीषिणः
Whatever merit is declared to arise from bathing and giving gifts at all holy places, that fruit the wise always obtain there.
सम्यक् तीर्थेन यत् प्रोक्तं व्रतेन नियमेन च तत् फलं लभते तत्र प्रत्यहं प्रयतः शुचिः
There, one who is pure and devoted, gains every day the fruit that is declared to arise from proper pilgrimage, vows, and discipline.
यस् तु नानाविधैर् यज्ञैर् यत् फलं लभते नरः तत् फलं लभते तत्र प्रत्यहं संयतेन्द्रियः
There, a person with controlled senses obtains daily the same result that is gained by men through various kinds of sacrifices.
देहं त्यजन्ति पुरुषास् तत्र ये पुरुषोत्तमे कल्पवृक्षं समासाद्य मुक्तास् ते नात्र संशयः
Those who give up their bodies there, in that supreme place of Purushottama, attain liberation, reaching the wish-fulfilling tree—of this there is no doubt.
वटसागरयोर् मध्ये ये त्यजन्ति कलेवरम् ते दुर्लभं परं मोक्षं प्राप्नुवन्ति न संशयः
Those who abandon their bodies between the Banyan and the Ocean attain the rare supreme liberation—there is no doubt of this.
अनिच्छन्न् अपि यस् तत्र प्राणांस् त्यजति मानवः सो ऽपि दुःखविनिर्मुक्तो मुक्तिं प्राप्नोति दुर्लभाम्
Even a man who, without desire, gives up his life there becomes free from suffering and attains the difficult-to-obtain liberation.
कृमिकीटपतंगाद्यास् तिर्यग्योनिगताश् च ये तत्र देहं परित्यज्य ते यान्ति परमां गतिम्
Creatures such as worms, insects, moths, and others born in lower wombs, abandoning their bodies there, attain the highest state.
भ्रान्तिं लोकस्य पश्यध्वम् अन्यतीर्थं प्रति द्विजाः पुरुषाख्येन यत् प्राप्तम् अन्यतीर्थफलादिकम्
See, O twice-born, the delusion of people regarding other holy places; whatever is obtained at other sacred sites by the name of Purusha is surpassed here.
सकृत् पश्यति यो मर्त्यः श्रद्धया पुरुषोत्तमम् पुरुषाणां सहस्रेषु स भवेद् उत्तमः पुमान्
He who, even once, beholds Purushottama with faith becomes the best among thousands of men.
