Saying 'so be it,' Abhishtuta too, with faith, prayed to the god of gods, the Sun, who is the essence of Hari and Shiva.
Give the worship of the gods, O Savitar; salutations to you.
Since the Sun is both royal and divine, and the land was given by the king, Savitar, lord of the gods, said, 'I give.'
Whoever performs sacrifice in this way suffers no harm; so too in the horse sacrifice, with Brahmins skilled in the Vedas.
When, at the king's command, the Sun came to the lord of the earth to grant the gods a sacrifice, that place is called Bhānutīrtha.
That supreme sacrifice of the gods, the horse-sacrifice, accompanied by the immortals, was also attended by the Daityas, Dānavas, and other destroyers of sacrifice.
All of them, disguised as Brahmins and singing like chanters of the Sāma Veda, those great-minded ones entered there unhindered.
They seized the ladles, vessels, the Soma, the Soma-press, the drink of Soma, the offerings, and even the officiating priests and the king.
Some of the Asuras mocked, others threw things down, and others laughed; their actions were unknown to all except Viśvarūpa, O sage.
Even Viśvarūpa said to his father, 'These are Daityas.' Hearing his son's words, Tvaṣṭṛ spoke this to the gods.
Take up water from the rain-pot and sprinkle it everywhere on those who mock the pure sacrifice, the ladle, and the Soma.
Saying, 'All have been vanquished by me,' sprinkle them.
Thus did the hosts of gods act, and so did Tvaṣṭṛ; then all the Kāṃdiśīkas were reduced to ashes.
Saying, 'The great sinners have been slain by me,' he cast the water down; then the Daityas, their life span diminished, departed in anger.
Where Tvaṣṭṛ, the lord and progenitor of beings, cast that water, that place is called the Tvaṣṭra Tīrtha, destroyer of all sins.
Then Yama struck down the Daityas who had been cast out by Tvaṣṭṛ's words, with the rod of time, the discus, the noose of time, and his wrath.
Where those Daityas were slain, that place is called the Yāmyatīrtha; there the sacrifice was completed, and much nectar was offered into the fire.
Where, in that great sacrifice, unbroken streams poured from the spokes of the chariot, there the fire-god was satisfied, being duly praised.
That is called the Agnitīrtha, bestower of the fruit of a horse-sacrifice. Indra, with the Maruts, spoke these auspicious words to the king.
O king, you will become a sovereign in both worlds; you will always be my dear friend—of this there is no doubt.
He who has attained his purpose in the world of mortals should offer libations at Indratīrtha for the satisfaction of the ancestors, especially at Yamatīrtha.
That tīrtha is dedicated to Maheśvara; there, Śiva, worshipped and praised by devoted and expert Brahmins, is present.
With Vedic and worldly mantras, with dances, songs, and music, and with the five nectars, Maheśvara is to be worshipped.
With many offerings, prostrations, circumambulations, incense, lamps, food offerings, flowers, and fragrant scents,
He worshipped the Lord of the gods—Viṣṇu and Śaṃbhu—with single-minded devotion; then, pleased, the two Lords granted boons with their power.
Having been praised by the king, they granted both enjoyment and liberation, as well as the supreme greatness of this sacred place.
From that time onward, that sacred place is called both Śaiva and Vaiṣṇava; bathing and giving there are known to grant all desires.
Whoever remembers or recites all these sacred places is freed from all sins and goes to the city of Śiva and Viṣṇu.
Especially at Bhānutīrtha, bathing grants the fulfillment of all aims; that sacred place is of great merit, for a hundred sacred places are there.
It is known as Bhillatīrtha, destroyer of disease and remover of sin, bestowing devotion to the twin lotus feet of Mahādeva.
