तत्रस्था सततं कीर्तिः प्रज्ञा मेधा सरस्वती बुद्धिर् मतिस् तथा क्षान्तिः सिद्धिमूर्तिस् तथा द्युतिः
There dwell constantly Fame, Wisdom, Intelligence, Sarasvatī, Understanding, Thought, Patience, the embodiment of Success, and Radiance.
गायत्री चैव सावित्री मङ्गला सर्वमङ्गला प्रभा मतिस् तथा कान्तिस् तत्र नारायणी स्थिता
There too are Gāyatrī, Sāvitrī, Maṅgalā, the source of all auspiciousness, Splendor, Thought, Beauty, and Nārāyaṇī herself.
श्रद्धा च कौशिकी देवी विद्युत् सौदामिनी तथा निद्रा रात्रिस् तथा माया तथान्यामरयोषितः
Also present are Śraddhā, the goddess Kauśikī, Lightning, Saudāminī, Sleep, Night, Māyā, and other celestial women.
वासुदेवस्य सर्वास् ता भवने संप्रतिष्ठिताः अथ किं बहुनोक्तेन सर्वं तत्र प्रतिष्ठितम्
All these reside in the abode of Vāsudeva; what more need be said? Everything is established there.
घृताची मेनका रम्भा सहजन्या तिलोत्तमा उर्वशी चैव निम्लोचा तथान्या वामना परा
Ghṛtācī, Menakā, Rambhā, Sahajanyā, Tilottamā, Urvaśī, Nimlocā, and others, both small and great, are there.
मन्दोदरी च सुभगा विश्वाची विपुलानना भद्राङ्गी चित्रसेना च प्रम्लोचा सुमनोहरा
Mandodarī, the fortunate one, Viśvācī, broad-faced, Bhadrāṅgī, Citrasenā, Pramlocā, all of enchanting beauty, are present.
मुनिसंमोहिनी रामा चन्द्रमध्या शुभानना सुकेशी नीलकेशा च तथा मन्मथदीपिनी
The sage-bewildering Rāmā, Candramadhyā of auspicious face, Sukeśī, Nīlakeśā, and Manmathadīpinī are there as well.
अलम्बुषा मिश्रकेशी तथान्या मुञ्जिकस्थला क्रतुस्थला वराङ्गी च पूर्वचित्तिस् तथा परा
Alambuṣā, Miśrakeśī, Muñjikasthalā, Kratusthalā, the beautiful-limbed one, Pūrvacitti, and others are also present.
परावती महारूपा शशिलेखा शुभानना हंसलीलानुगामिन्यो मत्तवारणगामिनी
Parāvatī of great form, Śaśilekhā of auspicious face, those who move like swans, and those who walk like intoxicated elephants are there.
बिम्बौष्ठी नवगर्भा च विख्याताः सुरयोषितः एताश् चान्या अप्सरसो रूपयौवनगर्विताः
Bimbauṣṭhī, Navagarbhā, and other renowned celestial women, as well as other apsarases, proud of their beauty and youth, are present.
सुमध्याश् चारुवदनाः सर्वालंकारभूषिताः गीतमाधुर्यसंयुक्ताः सर्वलक्षणसंयुताः
With slender waists and beautiful faces, adorned with every ornament, endowed with the sweetness of song, possessing all auspicious marks.
गीतवाद्ये च कुशलाः सुरगन्धर्वयोषितः नृत्यन्त्य् अनुदिनं तत्र यत्रासौ पुरुषोत्तमः
Skilled in singing and playing instruments, the women of the gods and Gandharvas dance there every day, where that Supreme Person resides.
न तत्र रोगो नो ग्लानिर् न मृत्युर् न हिमातपौ न क्षुत् पिपासा न जरा न वैरूप्यं न चासुखम्
There is no disease, no fatigue, no death, neither cold nor heat, no hunger or thirst, no old age, no deformity, nor any suffering.
परमानन्दजननं सर्वकामफलप्रदम् विष्णुलोकात् परं लोकं नात्र पश्यामि भो द्विजाः
It generates supreme bliss and grants all desired fruits; O twice-born, I do not see any world higher than Viṣṇu's realm.
ये लोकाः स्वर्गलोके तु श्रूयन्ते पुण्यकर्मणाम् विष्णुलोकस्य ते विप्राः कलां नार्हन्ति षोडशीम्
O Brāhmaṇas, those worlds in heaven spoken of for the virtuous do not equal even a sixteenth part of Viṣṇu's world.
एवं हरेः पुरस्थानं सर्वभोगगुणान्वितम् सर्वसौख्यकरं पुण्यं सर्वाश्चर्यमयं द्विजाः
Thus, the abode before Hari is endowed with every enjoyment and quality, bestowing all happiness, holy, and full of wonders, O Brāhmaṇas.
न तत्र नास्तिका यान्ति पुरुषा विषयात्मकाः न कृतघ्ना न पिशुना नो स्तेना नाजितेन्द्रियाः
Those who are atheists, sensual, ungrateful, slanderers, thieves, or undisciplined do not go there.
ये ऽर्चयन्ति सदा भक्त्या वासुदेवं जगद्गुरुम् ते तत्र वैष्णवा यान्ति विष्णुलोकं न संशयः
Those who always worship Vāsudeva, the teacher of the world, with devotion, surely go to Viṣṇu's world; there is no doubt.
दक्षिणस्योदधेस् तीरे क्षेत्रे परमदुर्लभे दृष्ट्वा कृष्णं च रामं च सुभद्रां च द्विजोत्तमाः
On the southern shore of the ocean, in that supremely rare field, having seen Kṛṣṇa, Rāma, and Subhadrā, O best of Brāhmaṇas—
कल्पवृक्षसमीपे तु ये त्यजन्ति कलेवरम् ते तत्र मनुजा यान्ति मृता ये पुरुषोत्तमे
Those who abandon their bodies near the wish-fulfilling tree, those people who die there in Purushottama go to that place.
वटसागरयोर् मध्ये यः स्मरेत् पुरुषोत्तमम् ते ऽपि तत्र नरा यान्ति ये मृताः पुरुषोत्तमे
Those who remember Purushottama between the banyan and the ocean, those people who die there in Purushottama also go to that place.
ते ऽपि तत्र परं स्थानं यान्ति नास्त्य् अत्र संशयः एवं मया मुनिश्रेष्ठा विष्णुलोकः सनातनः सर्वानन्दकरः प्रोक्तो भुक्तिमुक्तिफलप्रदः
They too attain the supreme abode there; there is no doubt. Thus, O best of sages, I have described the eternal Viṣṇu's world, which bestows all joy and grants both enjoyment and liberation.
बह्वाश्चर्यस् त्वया प्रोक्तो विष्णुलोको जगत्पते नित्यानन्दकरः श्रीमान् भुक्तिमुक्तिफलप्रदः
O Lord of the world, you have described Viṣṇu's realm as full of wonders, eternally blissful, glorious, and granting both enjoyment and liberation.
क्षेत्रं च दुर्लभं लोके कीर्तितं पुरुषोत्तमम् त्यक्त्वा यत्र नरो देहं याति सालोक्यतां हरेः
The field called Purushottama, rare in the world, has been praised; whoever abandons their body there attains the same realm as Hari.
सम्यक् क्षेत्रस्य माहात्म्यं त्वया सम्यक् प्रकीर्तितम् यत्र स्वदेहसंत्यागाद् विष्णुलोकं व्रजेन् नरः
You have thoroughly extolled the greatness of the field, where, by abandoning one's own body, a person attains Viṣṇu's world.
अहो मोक्षस्य मार्गो ऽयं देहत्यागस् त्वयोदितः नराणाम् उपकाराय पुरुषाख्ये न संशयः
Ah, this is the path to liberation—the abandonment of the body, as you have described, for the benefit of people in Purushottama; there is no doubt.
अनायासेन देवेश देहं त्यक्त्वा नरोत्तमाः तस्मिन् क्षेत्रे परं विष्णोः पदं यान्ति निरामयम्
O Lord of the gods, without effort, the best of men, abandoning their bodies in that field, attain Viṣṇu's supreme, disease-free abode.
श्रुत्वा क्षेत्रस्य माहात्म्यं विस्मयो नो महान् अभूत् प्रयागपुष्करादीनि क्षेत्राण्य् आयतनानि च
Having heard the greatness of the field, we were not greatly astonished; Prayāga, Puṣkara, and other fields and sanctuaries—
पृथिव्यां सर्वतीर्थानि सरितश् च सरांसि च न तथा तानि सर्वाणि प्रशंससि सुरोत्तम
O best of gods, you do not praise all the holy places, rivers, and lakes on earth as much.
यथा प्रशंससि क्षेत्रं पुरुषाख्यं पुनः पुनः ज्ञातो ऽस्माभिर् अभिप्रायस् तवेदानीं पितामह
As you repeatedly extol the field called Purusha, we have now understood your intention, O Pitamaha.
