चक्रवर्ती महावीर्यो गुणैः सर्वैर् अलंकृतः कृत्वा राज्यं स्वधर्मेण यज्ञैर् इष्ट्वा सुदक्षिणैः
A universal monarch, endowed with great prowess and adorned with all virtues, having ruled the kingdom by his own dharma and performed sacrifices with excellent gifts.
तदन्ते योगिनां लोकं गत्वा मोक्षप्रदं शिवम् तत्र भुक्त्वा वरान् भोगान् यावद् आभूतसंप्लवम्
At the end of that, reaching the world of yogis, which grants liberation and is auspicious, there, enjoying excellent pleasures until the dissolution of creation.
तस्माद् आगच्छते चात्र जायते योगिनां कुले प्रवरे वैष्णवे विप्रा दुर्लभे साधुसंमते
From there, he returns here and is born in the noble lineage of yogis, esteemed by the virtuous, in a rare and excellent Vaiṣṇava family of brāhmins.
चतुर्वेदी विप्रवरो यज्ञैर् इष्ट्वाप्तदक्षिणैः वैष्णवं योगम् आस्थाय ततो मोक्षम् अवाप्नुयात्
A distinguished brāhmin, versed in the four Vedas, having performed sacrifices with acquired gifts, adopting Vaiṣṇava yoga, thereafter attains liberation.
एवं यात्राफलं विप्रा मया सम्यग् उदाहृतम् भुक्तिमुक्तिप्रदं नॄणां किम् अन्यच् छ्रोतुम् इच्छथ
Thus, O brāhmins, I have properly described the fruits of pilgrimage, which grant enjoyment and liberation to men. What else do you wish to hear?
श्रोतुम् इच्छामहे देव विष्णुलोकम् अनामयम् लोकानन्दकरं कान्तं सर्वाश्चर्यसमन्वितम्
We wish to hear, O Lord, about Viṣṇu's world, free from affliction, delightful to all beings, charming, and filled with every wonder.
प्रमाणं तस्य लोकस्य भोगं कान्तिं बलं प्रभो कर्मणा केन गच्छन्ति तत्र धर्मपरायणाः
O Master, tell us the measure of that world, its pleasures, splendor, and power. By what actions do those devoted to dharma reach there?
दर्शनात् स्पर्शनाद् वापि तीर्थस्नानादिनापि वा विस्तराद् ब्रूहि तत्त्वेन परं कौतूहलं हि नः
Whether by seeing, touching, or bathing at holy places, tell us in detail and truth, for we have the highest curiosity.
शृणुध्वं मुनयः सर्वे यत् परं परमं पदम् भक्तानाम् ईहितं धन्यं पुण्यं संसारनाशनम्
Hear, O sages, all of you, about the supreme, highest abode, desired by devotees, blessed, virtuous, and the destroyer of worldly existence.
प्रवरं सर्वलोकानां विष्ण्वाख्यं वदतो मम सर्वाश्चर्यमयं पुण्यं स्थानं त्रैलोक्यपूजितम्
As I speak of the foremost of all worlds, called Viṣṇu's, wondrous, virtuous, a place honored in the three worlds.
अशोकैः पारिजातैश् च मन्दारैश् चम्पकद्रुमैः मालतीमल्लिकाकुन्दैर् बकुलैर् नागकेसरैः
With aśoka, pārijāta, mandāra, and campaka trees, with mālatī, mallikā, kundā, bakula, and nāgakesara trees.
पुंनागैर् अतिमुक्तैश् च प्रियङ्गुतगरार्जुनैः पाटलाचूतखदिरैः कर्णिकारवनोज्ज्वलैः
With puṃnāga, atimukta, priyangu, tagara, arjuna, pāṭala, mango, khadira, and forests shining with karṇikāra trees.
नारङ्गैः पनसैर् लोध्रैर् निम्बदाडिमसर्जकैः द्राक्षालकुचखर्जूरैर् मधुकेन्द्रफलैर् द्रुमैः
With nāraṅga, jackfruit, lodhra, neem, pomegranate, sarja, grape, lakuca, date, madhuka, and other fruit-bearing trees.
कपित्थैर् नारिकेरैश् च तालैः श्रीफलसंभवैः कल्पवृक्षैर् असंख्यैश् च वन्यैर् अन्यैः सुशोभनैः
With kapittha, coconut, palm, śrīphala, countless wish-fulfilling trees, and other beautiful wild trees.
सरलैश् चन्दनैर् नीपैर् देवदारुशुभाञ्जनैः जातीलवङ्गकङ्कोलैः कर्पूरामोदवासिभिः
With sarala, sandalwood, nīpa, devadāru, auspicious añjana, jātī, clove, kaṅkola, and trees fragrant with camphor.
ताम्बूलपत्त्रनिचयैस् तथा पूगीफलद्रुमैः अन्यैश् च विविधैर् वृक्षैः सर्वर्तुफलशोभितैः
With clusters of betel leaves, as well as areca nut trees, and other various trees adorned with fruits in every season.
पुष्पैर् नानाविधैश् चैव लतागुच्छसमुद्भवैः नानाजलाशयैः पुण्यैर् नानापक्षिरुतैर् वरैः
With flowers of many kinds, arising from clusters of creepers, with sacred waters of various lakes, and adorned by excellent birds of many species.
दीर्घिकाशतसंघातैस् तोयपूर्णैर् मनोहरैः कुमुदैः शतपत्त्रैश् च पुष्पैः कोकनदैर् वरैः
With groups of hundreds of ponds, filled with delightful water, with lotuses, hundred-petaled flowers, and splendid kokanada blossoms.
रक्तनीलोत्पलैः कान्तैः कह्लारैश् च सुगन्धिभिः अन्यैश् च जलजैः पुष्पैर् नानावर्णैः सुशोभनैः
With charming red and blue water-lilies, fragrant kahlaras, and other aquatic flowers of various colors, beautifully arranged.
हंसकारण्डवाकीर्णैश् चक्रवाकोपशोभितैः कोयष्टिकैश् च दात्यूहैः कारण्डवरवाकुलैः
Filled with swans, karandavas, and adorned by chakravakas, with koyaṣṭikas, dātyūhas, and flocks of excellent karandavas and ravākas.
चातकैः प्रियपुत्रैश् च जीवंजीवकजातिभिः अन्यैर् दिव्यैर् जलचरैर् विहारमधुरस्वनैः
With cātakas, priyaputras, jīvaṃjīvakas, and other divine aquatic creatures whose sweet voices delight the surroundings.
एवं नानाविधैर् दिव्यैर् नानाश्चर्यसमन्वितैः वृक्षैर् जलाशयैः पुण्यैर् भूषितं सुमनोहरैः
Thus, with various divine and wondrous trees and sacred waters, all beautifully adorned and most delightful.
तत्र दिव्यैर् विमानैश् च नानारत्नविभूषितैः कामगैः काञ्चनैः शुभ्रैर् दिव्यगन्धर्वनादितैः
There are divine palaces, adorned with various jewels, moving at will, made of gold, shining, and filled with celestial Gandharvas.
तरुणादित्यसंकाशैर् अप्सरोभिर् अलंकृतैः हेमशय्यासनयुतैर् नानाभोगसमन्वितैः
With young, sun-like Apsarases, adorned, accompanied by golden beds and seats, and endowed with various enjoyments.
खेचरैः सपताकैश् च मुक्ताहारावलम्बिभिः नानावर्णैर् असंख्यातैर् जातरूपपरिच्छदैः
With those who move in the sky, bearing banners, adorned with pearl necklaces, of countless colors, and decorated with golden ornaments.
नानाकुसुमगन्धाढ्यैश् चन्दनागुरुभूषितैः सुखप्रचारबहुलैर् नानावादित्रनिःस्वनैः
Rich with the fragrance of various flowers, adorned with sandalwood and aloe, abundant in pleasant movement, and filled with sounds of diverse instruments.
मनोमारुततुल्यैश् च किङ्किणीस्तबकाकुलैः विहरन्ति पुरे तस्मिन् वैष्णवे लोकपूजिते
With those whose minds are swift as the wind, surrounded by clusters of tinkling ornaments, they delight in that city, revered by the worlds.
नानाङ्गनाभिः सततं गन्धर्वाप्सरसादिभिः चन्द्राननाभिः कान्ताभिर् योषिद्भिः सुमनोहरैः
Always accompanied by various women—Gandharvas, Apsarases, and others—whose faces are like the moon, beautiful and charming.
पीनोन्नतकुचाग्राभिः सुमध्याभिः समन्ततः श्यामावदातवर्णाभिर् मत्तमातङ्गगामिभिः
With women whose breasts are full and prominent, whose waists are slender, whose complexions are dark and fair, moving with the grace of intoxicated elephants.
परिवार्य नरश्रेष्ठं वीजयन्ति स्म ताः स्त्रियः चामरै रुक्मदण्डैश् च नानारत्नविभूषितैः
Surrounding the best of men, those women fan him with camaras whose handles are of gold, adorned with various jewels.
