स्नात्वा सम्यग् विधानेन धौतवासा जितेन्द्रियः स्नापयेत् पूर्ववत् तत्र पूजयेत् पुरुषोत्तमम्
Having bathed properly according to the rules, wearing clean garments and with senses subdued, one should perform the bathing as before and worship Puruṣottama there.
गन्धैः पुष्पैर् उपहारैर् नैवेद्यैर् दीपकैस् तथा उपचारैर् बहुविधैः प्रणिपातैः प्रदक्षिणैः
With fragrances, flowers, offerings, food, lamps, and many kinds of services, with prostrations and circumambulations, one should honor Him.
जाप्यैः स्तुतिनमस्कारैर् गीतवाद्यैर् मनोहरैः संपूज्यैवं जगन्नाथं ब्राह्मणान् पूजयेत् ततः
Having worshipped the Lord of the Universe with recitations, hymns, salutations, and delightful songs and instruments, one should then honor the Brahmins.
द्वादशैव तु गास् तेभ्यो दत्त्वा कनकम् एव च छत्त्रोपानद्युगं चैव श्रद्धाभक्तिसमन्वितः
With faith and devotion, one should give them twelve cows, gold, and also a pair of umbrella and footwear.
भक्त्या तु सधनं तेभ्यो दद्याद् वस्त्रादिकं द्विजाः सद्भावेन तु गोविन्दस् तोष्यते पूजितो यतः
With devotion, one should give them wealth, garments, and other items; for when Brahmins are worshipped with sincerity, Govinda is pleased.
आचार्याय ततो दद्याद् गोवस्त्रं कनकं तथा छत्त्रोपानद्युगं चान्यत् कांस्यपात्रं च भक्तितः
Then, with devotion, one should give the teacher a cow, a garment, gold, another pair of umbrella and footwear, and a bronze vessel.
ततस् तान् भोजयेद् विप्रान् भोज्यं पायसपूर्वकम् पक्वान्नं भक्ष्यभोज्यं च गुडसर्पिःसमन्वितम्
After that, one should feed the Brahmins with food beginning with sweet rice, cooked grains, and various edibles mixed with jaggery and ghee.
ततस् तान् अन्नतृप्तांश् च ब्राह्मणान् स्वस्थमानसान् द्वादशैवोदकुम्भांश् च दद्यात् तेभ्यः समोदकान्
Then, when the Brahmins are satisfied with food and their minds are at ease, one should give them twelve water pots filled with water.
दक्षिणां च यथाशक्त्या दद्यात् तेभ्यो विमत्सरः कुम्भं च दक्षिणां चैव आचार्याय निवेदयेत्
One should also give them gifts according to one's ability, without envy, and present a water pot and a gift to the teacher.
एवं संपूज्य तान् विप्रान् गुरुं ज्ञानप्रदायकम् पूजयेत् परया भक्त्या विष्णुतुल्यं द्विजोत्तमाः
Having thus worshipped those Brahmins, one should honor the guru, the giver of knowledge, with supreme devotion, as one would honor Vishnu, O best of twice-born.
सुवर्णवस्त्रगोधान्यैर् द्रव्यैश् चान्यैर् वरैर् बुधः संपूज्य तं नमस्कृत्य इमं मन्त्रम् उदीरयेत्
Having worshipped him with gold, garments, cows, grains, and other excellent gifts, and having bowed, the wise should recite this mantra:
सर्वव्यापी जगन्नाथः शङ्खचक्रगदाधरः अनादिनिधनो देवः प्रीयतां पुरुषोत्तमः
"May the all-pervading Lord of the Universe, who holds the conch, discus, and mace, the beginningless and endless God, the Supreme Person, be pleased."
इत्य् उच्चार्य ततो विप्रांस् त्रिः कृत्वा च प्रदक्षिणाम् प्रणम्य शिरसा भक्त्या आचार्यं तु विसर्जयेत्
Having uttered this, one should then circumambulate the Brahmins three times, bowing with the head in devotion, and then respectfully dismiss the teacher.
ततस् तान् ब्राह्मणान् भक्त्या चासीमान्तम् अनुव्रजेत् अनुव्रज्य तु तान् सर्वान् नमस्कृत्य निवर्तयेत्
Then, with devotion, one should accompany those Brahmins to the boundary, and after following all of them and offering salutations, one should take leave.
बान्धवैः स्वजनैर् युक्तस् ततो भुञ्जीत वाग्यतः अन्यैश् चोपासकैर् दीनैर् भिक्षुकैश् चान्नकाङ्क्षिभिः
Then, joined by relatives and friends, one should eat, observing restraint in speech, along with other worshippers, the poor, mendicants, and those desiring food.
एवं कृत्वा नरः सम्यङ् नारी वा लभते फलम् अश्वमेधसहस्राणां राजसूयशतस्य च
By performing thus, whether man or woman, one attains the fruit equal to a thousand horse sacrifices and a hundred royal consecrations.
अतीतं शतम् आदाय पुरुषाणां नरोत्तमाः भविष्यं च शतं विप्राः स्वर्गत्या दिव्यरूपधृक्
O best of men, taking a hundred from the past and a hundred from the future, O Brahmins, one attains heaven, bearing a divine form.
सर्वलक्षणसंपन्नः सर्वालंकारभूषितः सर्वकामसमृद्धात्मा देववद् विगतज्वरः
Endowed with all auspicious marks, adorned with all ornaments, fulfilled in all desires, godlike and free from suffering.
रूपयौवनसंपन्नो गुणैः सर्वैर् अलंकृतः स्तूयमानो ऽप्सरोभिश् च गन्धर्वैः समलंकृतः
Blessed with beauty and youth, adorned with all virtues, praised by Apsarases and adorned together with Gandharvas.
विमानेनार्कवर्णेन कामगेन स्थिरेण च पताकाध्वजयुक्तेन सर्वरत्नैर् अलंकृतः
In a celestial chariot, radiant as the sun, moving at will and steady, adorned with banners and flags, and decorated with all jewels.
उद्योतयन् दिशः सर्वा आकाशे विगतक्लमः युवा महाबलो धीमान् विष्णुलोकं स गच्छति
Radiant in all directions, free from fatigue in the sky, youthful, mighty, and wise, he goes to the world of Vishnu.
तत्र कल्पशतं यावद् भुङ्क्ते भोगान् यथेप्सितान् सिद्धाप्सरोभिर् गन्धर्वैः सुरविद्याधरोरगैः
There, for a hundred aeons, he enjoys desired pleasures with accomplished apsaras, gandharvas, gods, vidyadharas, and serpents.
स्तूयमानो मुनिवरैस् तिष्ठते विगतज्वरः यथा देवो जगन्नाथः शङ्खचक्रगदाधरः
Praised by eminent sages, he remains free from affliction, like the Lord of the universe, bearing the conch, discus, and mace.
तथासौ मुदितो विप्राः कृत्वा रूपं चतुर्भुजम् भुक्त्वा तत्र वरान् भोगान् क्रीडां कृत्वा सुरैः सह
Thus, delighted, the Brahmin assumes a four-armed form, enjoys excellent pleasures there, and plays with the gods.
तदन्ते ब्रह्मसदनम् आयाति सर्वकामदम् सिद्धविद्याधरैश् चापि शोभितं सुरकिंनरैः
After that, he goes to the abode of Brahma, granting all desires, adorned by accomplished vidyadharas, gods, and kinnaras.
कालं नवतिकल्पं तु तत्र भुक्त्वा सुखं नरः तस्माद् आयाति विप्रेन्द्राः सर्वकामफलप्रदम्
There, after enjoying happiness for ninety aeons, the man proceeds, O foremost Brahmins, to the realm granting all desired fruits.
रुद्रलोकं सुरगणैः सेवितं सुखमोक्षदम् अनेकशतसाहस्रैर् विमानैः समलंकृतम्
He arrives at Rudra's world, served by hosts of gods, bestowing happiness and liberation, adorned with countless thousands of celestial palaces.
सिद्धविद्याधरैर् यक्षैर् भूषितं दैत्यदानवैः अशीतिकल्पकालं तु तत्र भुक्त्वा सुखं नरः
Adorned by accomplished vidyadharas, yakshas, daityas, and danavas, there the man enjoys happiness for eighty aeons.
तदन्ते याति गोलोकं सर्वभोगसमन्वितम् सुरसिद्धाप्सरोभिश् च शोभितं सुमनोहरम्
After that, he goes to Goloka, filled with every pleasure, splendid and enchanting, adorned by gods, accomplished beings, and apsaras.
तत्र सप्ततिकल्पांस् तु भुक्त्वा भोगम् अनुत्तमम् दुर्लभं त्रिषु लोकेषु स्वस्थचित्तो यथामरः
There, enjoying supreme pleasures for seventy aeons, rare in the three worlds, he remains composed like a god.
