शुक्लवर्णं प्रवर्षन्तम् अमृतं प्लावयन् महीम् एवं निर्धूतपापस् तु दिव्यदेहस् ततो भवेत्
One should envision it as white in color, pouring forth nectar, flooding the earth; thus, freed from sin, one then attains a divine body.
अष्टाक्षरं ततो मन्त्रं न्यसेद् एवात्मनो बुधः वामपादं समारभ्य क्रमशश् चैव विन्यसेत्
Then, the wise should place the eight-syllable mantra upon themselves, beginning from the left foot and proceeding sequentially.
पञ्चाङ्गं वैष्णवं चैव चतुर्व्यूहं तथैव च करशुद्धिं प्रकुर्वीत मूलमन्त्रेण साधकः
The practitioner should perform the fivefold Vaishnava purification, the arrangement of the four emanations, and the purification of the hands, all with the root mantra.
एकैकं चैव वर्णं तु अङ्गुलीषु पृथक् पृथक् ओंकारं पृथिवीं शुक्लां वामपादे तु विन्यसेत्
He should place each syllable separately on the fingers, and establish the syllable 'Om', which is white and of the earth element, on the left foot.
नकारः शांभवः श्यामो दक्षिणे तु व्यवस्थितः मोकारं कालम् एवाहुर् वामकट्यां निधापयेत्
The syllable 'Na', belonging to Shiva and dark in hue, is to be placed on the right foot; the syllable 'Mo', said to be Time, should be set at the left hip.
नाकारः सर्वबीजं तु दक्षिणस्यां व्यवस्थितः राकारस् तेज इत्य् आहुर् नाभिदेशे व्यवस्थितः
The syllable 'Na', the universal seed, is to be placed on the right side; the syllable 'Ra', said to be fire, is to be established at the navel region.
वायव्यो ऽयं यकारस् तु वामस्कन्धे समाश्रितः णाकारः सर्वगो ज्ञेयो दक्षिणांसे व्यवस्थितः यकारो ऽयं शिरस्थश् च यत्र लोकाः प्रतिष्ठिताः
The syllable 'Ya', associated with air, is to be placed on the left shoulder; the syllable 'Na', all-pervading, is to be set on the right shoulder; this 'Ya' is to be placed on the head, where all worlds are established.
ममाग्रे ऽवस्थितो विष्णुः पृष्ठतश् चापि केशवः गोविन्दो दक्षिणे पार्श्वे वामे तु मधुसूदनः
Vishnu stands before me, and behind me is Keshava; Govinda is at my right side, and Madhusudana is at my left.
उपरिष्टात् तु वैकुण्ठो वाराहः पृथिवीतले अवान्तरदिशो यास् तु तासु सर्वासु माधवः
Above is Vaikuntha, Varaha is on the earth below; in all the intermediate directions, Madhava is present.
गच्छतस् तिष्ठतो वापि जाग्रतः स्वपतो ऽपि वा नरसिंहकृता गुप्तिर् वासुदेवमयो ह्य् अहम्
Whether walking, standing, awake, or asleep, I am protected by Narasimha; indeed, I am pervaded by Vāsudeva.
एवं विष्णुमयो भूत्वा ततः कर्म समारभेत् यथा देहे तथा देवे सर्वतत्त्वानि योजयेत्
Having thus become pervaded by Vishnu, one should then begin the rite, uniting all the principles in the deity as in the body.
ततश् चैव प्रकुर्वीत प्रोक्षणं प्रणवेन तु फट्कारान्तं समुद्दिष्टं सर्वविघ्नहरं शुभम्
Then, one should perform sprinkling with the Pranava, ending with the syllable 'Phat', as prescribed, which removes all obstacles and is auspicious.
तत्रार्कचन्द्रवह्नीनां मण्डलानि विचिन्तयेत् पद्ममध्ये न्यसेद् विष्णुं पवनस्याम्बरस्य च
There, one should contemplate the circles of the sun, moon, and fire, and in the center of the lotus, install Vishnu, along with air and ether.
ततो विचिन्त्य हृदय ओंकारं ज्योतीरूपिणम् कर्णिकायां समासीनं ज्योतीरूपं सनातनम्
Then, meditating on the heart as the syllable 'Om', radiant in form, seated in the pericarp, eternal and luminous.
अष्टाक्षरं ततो मन्त्रं विन्यसेच् च यथाक्रमम् तेन व्यस्तसमस्तेन पूजनं परमं स्मृतम्
Next, the eight-syllabled mantra should be placed in order; with its separated and combined forms, the supreme worship is accomplished.
द्वादशाक्षरमन्त्रेण यजेद् देवं सनातनम् ततो ऽवधार्य हृदये कर्णिकायां बहिर् न्यसेत्
With the twelve-syllabled mantra, one should worship the eternal Lord; then, having fixed it in the heart's pericarp, one should place it outside.
चतुर्भुजं महासत्त्वं सूर्यकोटिसमप्रभम् चिन्तयित्वा महायोगं ज्योतीरूपं सनातनम् ततश् चावाहयेन् मन्त्रं क्रमेणाचिन्त्य मानसे
Meditating on the four-armed one, of great strength, shining like ten million suns, the great yogic, eternal, and radiant form, one should then invoke the mantra, step by step, in the mind beyond thought.
कर्णिकायां सुपीठे ऽत्र पद्मकल्पितम् आसनम् सर्वसत्त्वहितार्थाय तिष्ठ त्वं मधुसूदन
On the excellent seat in the pericarp, the lotus-formed throne, for the welfare of all beings, O Madhusudana, remain here.
ॐ पाद्यं पादयोर् देव पद्मनाभ सनातन विष्णो कमलपत्त्राक्ष गृहाण मधुसूदन
Om, O Lord, Padmanabha, Eternal Vishnu, Lotus-eyed Madhusudana, accept the water for washing your feet.
मधुपर्कं महादेव ब्रह्माद्यैः कल्पितं तव मया निवेदितं भक्त्या गृहाण पुरुषोत्तम
O Great God, the honey-mixture, prepared by Brahma and others, is offered to you by me with devotion; accept it, O Supreme Person.
मन्दाकिन्याः सितं वारि सर्वपापहरं शिवम् गृहाणाचमनीयं त्वं मया भक्त्या निवेदितम्
Receive this pure water from the Mandākinī, auspicious and remover of all sins, which I offer to you with devotion as water for sipping.
त्वम् आपः पृथिवी चैव ज्योतिस् त्वं वायुर् एव च लोकेश वृत्तिमात्रेण वारिणा स्नापयाम्य् अहम्
You are water, earth, light, and indeed air; O Lord of the world, I bathe you with water, as is proper.
देवतत्त्वसमायुक्त यज्ञवर्णसमन्वित स्वर्णवर्णप्रभे देव वाससी तव केशव
O Keśava, your garments shine with the radiance of gold, imbued with the essence of divinity and the marks of sacrifice.
शरीरं ते न जानामि चेष्टां चैव च केशव मया निवेदितो गन्धः प्रतिगृह्य विलिप्यताम्
O Keśava, I do not know your body or your movements; I offer fragrance to you, let it be accepted and applied.
ऋग्यजुःसाममन्त्रेण त्रिवृतं पद्मयोनिना सावित्रीग्रन्थिसंयुक्तम् उपवीतं तवार्पये
With the Ṛg, Yajur, and Sāma mantras, in triple form, from the lotus-born, and joined with the knot of Sāvitrī, I offer you the sacred thread.
दिव्यरत्नसमायुक्त वह्निभानुसमप्रभ गात्राणि तव शोभन्तु सालंकाराणि माधव
May your limbs shine, O Mādhava, adorned with divine jewels and ornaments radiant like fire and the sun.
वनस्पतिरसो दिव्यो गन्धाढ्यः सुरभिश् च ते मया निवेदितो भक्त्या धूपो ऽयं प्रतिगृह्यताम्
This incense, divine and rich in fragrance from the essence of forest trees, I offer to you with devotion; let it be accepted.
सूर्यचन्द्रसमो ज्योतिर् विद्युदग्न्योस् तथैव च त्वम् एव ज्योतिषां देव दीपो ऽयं प्रतिगृह्यताम्
Your light is equal to the sun and moon, as well as lightning and fire; O Lord, you are the light of all lights—let this lamp be accepted.
अन्नं चतुर्विधं चैव रसैः षड्भिः समन्वितम् मया निवेदितं भक्त्या नैवेद्यं तव केशव
I offer to you, O Keśava, food of four kinds, prepared with six flavors, as devotional offering.
पूर्वे दले वासुदेवं याम्ये संकर्षणं न्यसेत् प्रद्युम्नं पश्चिमे कुर्याद् अनिरुद्धं तथोत्तरे
Place Vāsudeva on the eastern petal, Saṃkarṣaṇa on the southern, Pradyumna on the western, and Aniruddha on the northern.
