इति कुसुमविचित्रसर्ववृक्षा विविधविहंगमनादरम्यदेशाः हिमगिरितनयाविवाहभूत्यै षड् उपययुर् ऋतवो मुनिप्रवीराः
Thus, the six seasons, filled with trees adorned with diverse blossoms and delightful with the songs of many birds, all arrived for the wedding of the daughter of the snowy mountain, O best of sages.
तत एवं प्रवृत्ते तु सर्वभूतसमागमे नानावाद्यसमाकीर्णे अहं तत्र द्विजातयः
Then, as all beings gathered and various instruments resounded, I too, O twice-born, was present there.
शैलपुत्रीम् अलंकृत्य योग्याभरणसंपदा पुरं प्रवेशितवांस् तां स्वयम् आदाय भो द्विजाः
Having adorned the mountain's daughter with appropriate ornaments, I personally led her into the city, O twice-born ones.
ततस् तु पुनर् एवेशम् अहं चैवोक्तवान् विभुम् हविर् जुहोमि वह्नौ ते उपाध्यायपदे स्थितः
Then again, I addressed the Lord, standing in the role of officiating priest: 'I offer the oblation into the fire for you.'
ददासि मह्यं यद्य् आज्ञां कर्तव्यो ऽयं क्रियाविधिः माम् आह शंकरश् चैवं देवदेवो जगत्पतिः
If you grant me permission, this ritual procedure must be performed; thus spoke Śaṃkara, the god of gods, lord of the world, to me.
यद् उद्दिष्टं सुरेशान तत् कुरुष्व यथेप्सितम् कर्तास्मि वचनं सर्वं ब्रह्मंस् तव जगद्विभो
O lord of the gods, whatever you have prescribed, do as you desire; I shall carry out all your commands, O Brahman, sovereign of the universe.
ततश् चाहं प्रहृष्टात्मा कुशान् आदाय सत्वरम् हस्तं देवस्य देव्याश् च योगबन्धेन युक्तवान्
Then, with a delighted heart, I quickly took up the kuśa grass, and, through yogic union, joined the hands of the god and the goddess.
ज्वलनश् च स्वयं तत्र कृताञ्जलिपुटः स्थितः श्रुतिगीतैर् महामन्त्रैर् मूर्तिमद्भिर् उपस्थितैः
There, Agni himself stood with palms joined in reverence, accompanied by hymns from the Vedas and great mantras, manifest in form.
यथोक्तविधिना हुत्वा सर्पिस् तद् अमृतं हविः ततस् तं ज्वलनं सर्वं कारयित्वा प्रदक्षिणम्
Having offered the clarified butter as oblation according to the prescribed rite, that nectar, I then made Agni the witness and led him around in circumambulation.
मुक्त्वा हस्तसमायोगं सहितः सर्वदैवतैः पुत्रैश् च मानसैः सिद्धैः प्रहृष्टेनान्तरात्मना
Releasing the joined hands, accompanied by all the gods, the mind-born sons, and the accomplished sages, with a joyful inner spirit.
वृत्त उद्वाहकाले तु प्रणम्य च वृषध्वजम् योगेनैव तयोर् विप्रास् तद् उमापरमेशयोः
At the time of the marriage ceremony, the brahmins, through yoga, bowed to the bull-bannered one, to the supreme pair, Umā and Parameśvara.
उद्वाहः स परो वृत्तो यं देवा न विदुः क्वचित् इति वः सर्वम् आख्यातं स्वयंवरम् इदं शुभम् उद्वाहश् चैव देवस्य शृणुध्वं परमाद्भुतम्
That supreme marriage was accomplished, which the gods know not anywhere; thus I have told you all, this auspicious svayaṃvara and the wondrous wedding of the god—listen.
अथ वृत्ते विवाहे तु भवस्यामिततेजसः प्रहर्षम् अतुलं गत्वा देवाः शक्रपुरोगमाः तुष्टुवुर् वाग्भिर् आद्याभिः प्रणेमुस् ते महेश्वरम्
Then, after the wedding of Bhava, of immeasurable brilliance, the gods, led by Śakra, attained unparalleled joy, praised him with noble words, and bowed to Maheśvara.
नमः पर्वतलिङ्गाय पर्वतेशाय वै नमः नमः पवनवेगाय विरूपायाजिताय च नमः क्लेशविनाशाय दात्रे च शुभसंपदाम्
Salutations to the one whose emblem is the mountain, to the lord of the mountain; salutations to the swift as the wind, to the deformed and unconquered; salutations to the destroyer of afflictions, giver of auspicious wealth.
नमो नीलशिखण्डाय अम्बिकापतये नमः नमः पवनरूपाय शतरूपाय वै नमः
Salutations to the one with a blue crest, to the lord of Ambikā; salutations to the one of wind-form, to the one of a hundred forms.
नमो भैरवरूपाय विरूपनयनाय च नमः सहस्रनेत्राय सहस्रचरणाय च
Salutations to the one of Bhairava form, to the one with deformed eyes; salutations to the one with a thousand eyes, to the one with a thousand feet.
नमो देववयस्याय वेदाङ्गाय नमो नमः विष्टम्भनाय शक्रस्य बाह्वोर् वेदाङ्कुराय च
Salutations to the companion of the gods, to the one whose limbs are the Vedas; salutations to the restrainer of Śakra, to the sprouting arms of the Vedas.
चराचराधिपतये शमनाय नमो नमः सलिलाशयलिङ्गाय युगान्ताय नमो नमः
Salutations to the lord of moving and unmoving beings, to the pacifier; salutations to the one whose emblem is water, to the ender of ages.
नमः कपालमालाय कपालसूत्रधारिणे नमः कपालहस्ताय दण्डिने गदिने नमः
Salutations to the one adorned with a garland of skulls, to the wearer of a skull-thread; salutations to the one who holds a skull in hand, to the wielder of staff and mace.
नमस् त्रैलोक्यनाथाय पशुलोकरताय च नमः खट्वाङ्गहस्ताय प्रमथार्तिहराय च
Salutations to the lord of the three worlds, to the one delighting in the realm of creatures; salutations to the one holding the khaṭvāṅga, to the remover of the distress of the Pramathas.
नमो यज्ञशिरोहन्त्रे कृष्णकेशापहारिणे भगनेत्रनिपाताय पूष्णो दन्तहराय च
Salutations to the slayer of the head of the sacrifice, to the remover of Kṛṣṇa's hair; to the one who struck out Bhaga's eye, and took Pūṣan's tooth.
नमः पिनाकशूलासिखड्गमुद्गरधारिणे नमो ऽस्तु कालकालाय तृतीयनयनाय च
Salutations to the bearer of the bow, spear, sword, and club; salutations to Kālakāla, to the one with the third eye.
अन्तकान्तकृते चैव नमः पर्वतवासिने सुवर्णरेतसे चैव नमः कुण्डलधारिणे
Salutations to the destroyer of death, to the dweller on the mountain, to the one of golden seed, and to the wearer of earrings.
दैत्यानां योगनाशाय योगिनां गुरवे नमः शशाङ्कादित्यनेत्राय ललाटनयनाय च
Salutations to the destroyer of the discipline of the demons, to the guru of yogis, to the one whose eyes are the moon and the sun, and to the one with the eye on the forehead.
नमः श्मशानरतये श्मशानवरदाय च नमो दैवतनाथाय त्र्यम्बकाय नमो नमः
Salutations to the one who delights in cremation grounds, to the giver of boons in the cremation ground, to the lord of the gods, and again and again to Tryambaka.
गृहस्थसाधवे नित्यं जटिले ब्रह्मचारिणे नमो मुण्डार्धमुण्डाय पशूनां पतये नमः
Salutations always to the householder ascetic, to the matted-haired celibate, to the half-shaven and fully shaven one, and to the lord of creatures.
सलिले तप्यमानाय योगैश्वर्यप्रदाय च नमः शान्ताय दान्ताय प्रलयोत्पत्तिकारिणे
Salutations to the one who is heated in the waters, to the giver of yogic powers, to the peaceful and restrained one, and to the maker of creation and dissolution.
नमो ऽनुग्रहकर्त्रे च स्थितिकर्त्रे नमो नमः नमो रुद्राय वसव आदित्यायाश्विने नमः
Salutations to the giver of grace and the sustainer, again and again salutations; salutations to Rudra, to the Vasus, to the Ādityas, and to the Aśvins.
नमः पित्रे ऽथ सांख्याय विश्वेदेवाय वै नमः नमः शर्वाय उग्राय शिवाय वरदाय च
Salutations to the father, to Sāṃkhya, to Viśvedeva; salutations to Śarva, to the fierce one, to Śiva, and to the giver of boons.
नमो भीमाय सेनान्ये पशूनां पतये नमः शुचये वैरिहानाय सद्योजाताय वै नमः
Salutations to the formidable one, to the commander, to the lord of creatures, to the pure one, to the destroyer of enemies, and to Sadyojāta.
