With the moon’s disk hidden by roaring clouds, the fresh, rain-soaked, beautiful grass is gazed upon with longing by the anxious eyes of travelers’ wives, their sighs smoky with yearning.
हंसनूपुरशब्दाढ्या समुन्नतपयोधरा चलद्विद्युल्लताहारा स्पष्टपद्मविलोचना

Wearing the tender shoots of red aśoka trees as finger ornaments, adorned with garments made from the gathered flowers of that tree.
रक्तोत्पलाग्रचरणा जातीपुष्पनखावली कदलीस्तम्भवामोरूः शशाङ्कवदना तथा
With feet tipped by red lotuses, nails like jasmine blossoms, thighs as lovely as banana trunks, and a face like the moon.
सर्वलक्षणसंपन्ना सर्वालंकारभूषिता प्रेम्णा स्पृशति कान्तेव सानुरागा मनोरमा
Endowed with every auspicious mark, adorned with all ornaments, she touches her beloved with affection, charming as a loving woman.
निर्मुक्तासितमेघकञ्चुकपटा पूर्णेन्दुबिम्बानना नीलाम्भोजविलोचना रविकरप्रोद्भिन्नपद्मस्तनी नानापुष्परजःसुगन्धिपवनप्रह्रादनी चेतसां तत्रासीत् कलहंसनूपुररवा देव्या विवाहे शरत्
With the dark cloud-veil cast off, her face full as the full moon, eyes like blue lotuses, breasts bursting like lotuses under the sun’s rays, delighting hearts with breezes fragrant with the pollen of many flowers, and with the sound of swan-anklets at the goddess’s wedding, there appeared the autumn season.
अत्यर्थशीतलाम्भोभिः प्लावयन्तौ दिशः सदा ऋतू हेमन्तशिशिरौ आजग्मतुर् अतिद्युती
