Whoever worships Aditya with his eyes is never diminished; the one who always gives lamps is illuminated by the lamp of knowledge.
Sesame seeds, pure oil, or the excellent gift of a sesame cow—these, in fire rituals and in lamps, destroy great sins.
Whoever always gives a lamp in temples, at crossroads, and in streets becomes handsome and fortunate.
The first (lamp) should be made with offerings, the second with herbal juices; but it should never be given with marrow, fat, or bone extract.
A lamp rises upward, never downward; the giver is illuminated and does not attain a lower state.
One should never steal or destroy a lamp that is always burning; the thief of a lamp meets bondage, destruction, anger, and darkness.
The giver of lamps shines like a lamp in the world of the gods; whoever always anoints (the lamp) with saffron, aloe, and sandalwood—
—that person, after death, attains wealth, fame, and prosperity; and one who is pure with red sandalwood and red flowers—
By always offering arghya at sunrise, one attains success within a year; from sunrise until sunset, one should continue (the observance).
Reciting, facing (the Sun), even a little mantra or hymn—this observance of Aditya destroys great sins.
One should offer the arghya with all its proper components; performing this at sunrise with faith, one is freed from all sins.
The giver of arghya, accompanied by gold, a cow, a bull, land, and garments, attains the fruit that follows for seven births.
Arghya should be carefully offered in fire, in water, in the sky, on pure ground, upon an image, and on a ball (of rice or similar).
One should always offer, facing forward, neither to the left nor right, with ghee or even guggul, to the Sun with devotion.
At that very moment, one is freed from all sins—of this there is no doubt—using a square vessel, or one made of devadāru wood.
By offering camphor and agarwood incense, one attains the path to heaven, whether during the Sun's northern or southern course.
Having worshipped especially, one is freed from all sins during solstices, lunar eclipses, and at the beginnings of the sixty-eight divisions.
Having worshipped especially, one is freed from all sins; thus, at all such times and always, a person should do so.
Whoever worships the Sun with devotion is honored in the world of the Sun, with offerings of rice, milk, cakes, fruits, roots, ghee, and cooked food.

By giving an umbrella, banner, canopy, flag, or fly-whisk to the Sun with faith, one attains the desired goal.
Whatever substance a man offers to the Sun with devotion, the Sun multiplies that for him a hundred thousand times.
By the Sun’s grace, all misdeeds—mental, verbal, or physical—are completely removed.
Even the fruit obtained from worshipping the Sun for a single day, with the prescribed gifts to Brahmins, is not gained by a hundred sacrifices.
Ah, the greatness of the god has thus been heard, O Lord of the world! O best of gods, what you have spoken is rare among them.
Speak again, O Lord of gods, what we ask, O Lord of the world; we wish to hear, O Brahman, for our curiosity is indeed great.

How can there be everlasting heaven for him? How can there be the highest good? And, having reached heaven, what should one do so as not to fall again?
