'Still, does Krishna ever make mention of his coming here? You must tell us, with your nectar-like words.'
'That Damodara, Govinda, whose mind is attached to the city women, has lost affection for us and seems difficult for us to behold.'
When addressed as Krishna and again as Damodara, the cowherd women, their hearts drawn to Hari, laughed sweetly.
The cowherd women were comforted by Rama with gentle, sweet, loving, and humble messages, in Krishna's exceedingly honeyed tones.
Rama, as before, made delightful and affectionate jokes with the cowherds, and together with them, shared stories in the land of Vraja.
As that great soul, covered in human guise, the bearer of the earth, wandered in the forest with the cowherds—he who is Shesha—
Having accomplished great deeds and descended solely for his task, Varuna spoke to Varuni for his enjoyment.
'You are always his cherished desire, O splendid one; go for the enjoyment of the mighty Ananta, and bring him joy.'
Thus addressed by him, Varuni made her presence manifest at the hollow of a kadamba tree on the bank of Vrindavana.
As Baladeva wandered, he caught the strong scent of liquor, and then experienced the ancient delight of wine.
Then, seeing the stream of liquor suddenly falling from the kadamba tree, the plough-wielder and the sages became exceedingly joyful.
He drank together with the cowherds and cowherd women, filled with delight, as he was praised with charming songs and music by those skilled in singing and instruments.
Exhausted, his body shining with sweat and water droplets like pearls, he said, 'Come, Yamuna, I wish to bathe,' his voice trembling.
The river, disregarding his intoxicated command, did not come; then, angered, the plough-wielder seized his plough.
Grasping her, intoxicated, he dragged her by the bank, saying, 'Wicked one, you do not come, you do not come; go where you wish.'
Dragged suddenly by him, abandoning her course, the river flooded the forest where Baladeva was present.
Approaching in bodily form, her eyes trembling with fear, she said to Rama, 'Be gracious, release me, O wielder of the pestle.'
He replied, 'If you disregard my valor and strength, then I shall drag you with my plough and divide you into a thousand parts.'
Thus spoken, the river, greatly terrified, appeased him; when the land was flooded there, Bala released Yamuna.
Then, after bathing, his radiance returned in the great forest; he took a beautiful lotus for his hair and a single earring.
Varuna sent him a garland of unfading lotuses, garments worthy of the ocean, and Lakshmi gave him blue clothes.
Adorned with a lotus in his hair, beautiful earrings, wearing blue garments and a garland, he shone, radiant with splendor.
Thus adorned, Rama enjoyed himself there in Vraja; after two months, he went again to the city of Mathura.
Bala married Revati, the daughter of Raivata, the king; from her were born Nisatha and Ulmuka.
Bhishmaka was king in Kundina, in the land of Vidarbha; his daughter was Rukmini, and his son was Rukmi, O twice-born.
Krishna desired Rukmini, and she, with lovely smile, desired him; but Rukmi, out of hatred, did not give her to the wielder of the discus, though he asked.
Urged by Jarasandha, Bhishmaka, together with Rukmi, gave Rukmini to Shishupala, the mighty one.
Then, for the wedding, all the kings headed by Jarasandha went to Bhishmaka's city, and Shishupala to Kundina.
Krishna, surrounded by Balarama and other Yadus, went to Kundina to witness the wedding of the king of Chedi.
But on the day before the wedding, Hari, encountering hostility even among his own kin like Rama, carried off that maiden.
