You are the inner self of all beings, abiding in all creatures; all that exists is your essence, and from you comes all that was and will be.
In sacrifice, you are worshipped, O inconceivable one, composed of all the gods, Achyuta; you alone are the sacrifice, the sacrificer, and the supreme lord of sacrifices.
Whatever denial arises in my mind toward you, O son of Devaki, out of affection, is the highest delusion.
You are the creator of all beings, beginningless and endless; yet how will my human tongue call you 'son'?
O Lord of the universe, from whom this entire world has arisen—by what means, without your own Māyā, could anything come into being from us?
In whom all things, both moving and unmoving, are established—how could that one, who lies upon the couch of the cosmic egg, be born from a human?
Therefore, be gracious, Supreme Lord, protect the world! Through your partial descents you act, but you are not my son. O Lord, you bewilder the minds of all, from Brahmā down to a blade of grass—why do you do this, O Supreme Self?
With vision deluded by Māyā, I thought, 'He is my son,' and out of fear of Kaṃsa I endured intense anxiety. You were taken to Gokula, lord of cows, and have grown up there, while I remained helpless.
The deeds of Rudra, the Maruts, the Aśvins, and Indra—though they strive, they cannot accomplish what you do. You, Viṣṇu, Lord of the worlds, have come for our benefit, and we are enveloped in supreme bewilderment.
Then, Devakī and Vasudeva, having attained knowledge by witnessing the deeds of the Blessed Lord, saw Māyā again through Hari's power.
He spread his Vaiṣṇavī Māyā for the bewilderment of the Yadu clan, and said: 'Mother, father, after a long time, I have come, for you have longed for me.'
You both were seen by Saṃkarṣaṇa, who was afraid of Kaṃsa. The time that passes without honoring one's parents is wasted.
That time is fruitless and brings suffering for the virtuous, when one fails to honor teachers, gods, twice-born, and one's own mother and father.
For those who do so, O father, birth becomes fruitful. All this transgression should be forgiven, for we were powerless under the might and valor of Kaṃsa.
Having spoken thus, both of them bowed in order to the elders of the Yadu clan, and with affectionate prostrations, they won the hearts of the people.
Then Kaṃsa's wives surrounded his slain body on the ground and wept, as did his mothers, overwhelmed by grief and sorrow.
Distressed in many ways and tormented by remorse, Hari himself, with tear-filled eyes, comforted them.
Then Madhusūdana freed Ugrasena from captivity and installed him in his own kingdom, though his son was slain.
Having been anointed king by Kṛṣṇa, the lion of the Yadus performed the funeral rites for his son and for the others who were slain there.
When the funeral rites were completed and he was seated on the throne, Hari said: 'Command, O lord, what should be done, without hesitation.'
'By the curse of Yayāti, this dynasty is now unworthy of kingship. While I remain as your servant, let the gods be commanded—what need is there for kings?'
Having spoken thus to Ugrasena, Bhagavān Keśava addressed Vāyu, and in human speech instructed him regarding the task.
Go, Indra, and speak, O Vayu; enough of pride, O Vasava. Let the Sudharma assembly hall be given to Ugrasena.
Krishna says: This matchless gem, the hall called Sudharma, is fit for a king; it is proper that the Yadus should sit in it.
Thus addressed, Vayu went and told everything to the lord of Shachi; and Purandara gave the Sudharma hall to Vayu.
The foremost of the Yadus enjoyed that divine hall brought by Vayu, filled with all jewels, sheltered by Govinda's arms.
The eminent Yadus, who knew all knowledge and were full of omniscience, made known the tradition of teacher and disciple.
Then the two heroes, Baladeva and Janardana, went to Sandipani, the Kashyan, dwelling in Avanti city, for the sake of learning weapons.
Having become his disciples, the two heroes devoted themselves to the duties of students, and displayed proper conduct before all people.
They studied the secret Dhanurveda, with its compendium, for sixty-four days and nights; O twice-born, it was wondrous.
