Then the sage Nārada, swift and standing upon a cloud, arrived; seeing Keśin slain, his heart was filled with joy.
"Well done, well done, Lord of the universe! O Acyuta, by your play alone this Keśin, bringer of suffering to the gods, has been slain by you."
"O Madhusūdana, the noble deeds you have performed in your descent amaze the mind; by this my heart is satisfied."
"Even Indra and the gods were afraid of this horse, Kṛṣṇa, as he shook his mane and neighed, scattering clouds with his roar."
"Because you, Janārdana, have slain this wicked Keśin, therefore you will be known in the world by the name Keśava."
"Farewell to you; I will go now, and return again at the battle with Kaṃsa. The day after tomorrow I will meet you, O slayer of Keśin."
"When Kaṃsa, son of Ugrasena, along with his followers, is destroyed, you, upholder of the earth, will be the remover of the world's burden."
"There, many kinds of battles, led by you, Janārdana, are to be witnessed by me on earth."
"So now I go, Govinda; a great divine task has been accomplished by you. Honored by you, I take my leave; may there be well-being for you, I depart."
When Nārada had departed, Kṛṣṇa, undisturbed, entered Gokula with the cowherds, the sole object of the gopīs' gaze.
Akrūra also set out, absorbed in the thought of seeing Kṛṣṇa, riding swiftly in his chariot, and journeyed to Nanda's Gokula.
And Akrūra thought, "No one is more blessed than I, for I shall behold the face of the discus-bearing Lord, descended in person."
"Today my birth is fulfilled, my night truly auspicious, for I shall see the face of Viṣṇu, whose eyes are like awakened lotus petals."
"That face of Viṣṇu, lotus-eyed, which removes the sins of men when remembered or contemplated—I shall see it."
"From whom the Vedas and all their branches have arisen—I shall see that supreme abode of the gods, the blessed face."
"He who, in sacrifices, is worshipped as the sacrifice-person, the supreme person, the support of all—I shall see that Lord of the universe."
Having worshipped Yama with a hundred sacrifices, Indra attained sovereignty over the immortals; I shall behold that endless, primal Kesava.
Neither Brahma, nor Indra, nor Rudra, nor the hosts of Ashvins, Vasus, Adityas, and Maruts know His true nature; today, that Hari touches me.
He is the soul of all, present everywhere, all-pervading, abiding in every being; He who is imperishable and all-encompassing is seen by me today.
By assuming forms such as fish, tortoise, boar, lion, and others, He established yoga through yoga; He will speak to me.
Now, the Lord of the world has taken human form by His own will, the imperishable one, to maintain order in the realm of action.
He who supports the earth, established upon its peaks, has descended for the sake of the world; He will address me as Akrura.
To Him whose illusion, composed of fathers, friends, brothers, mothers, and kin, cannot be lifted from the world, I bow again and again.
To Him in whom, when yoga-maya is established in the heart, mortals cross the vast ignorance—salutations to that embodiment of knowledge.
To Him who is called the yajna-purusha by sacrificers, Vasudeva by the eternal ones, Vishnu by those who know the Vedanta—I bow to Him.
Where the world is sustained and established, where existence and non-existence reside, may He, by His essence, bring gentleness to me.
Where remembrance brings forth all auspiciousness, to that foremost person, I always go for refuge—Hari.
Thus, contemplating Vishnu with a mind bowed in devotion, Akrura arrived at Gokula, as the sun shone brightly.
There he saw Krishna at the cow-milking, among the calves, with a complexion like blossoming blue lotus petals.
With eyes like blooming lotus leaves, chest marked with the Srivatsa, long arms, broad and high shoulders, and a prominent nose.
