दाता भोगी च चतुरो दीर्घायुर्नीरुजः सुखी
The giver and the enjoyer, all four, become long-lived, free from disease, and happy.
नारी वा कुरुते या तु सापि तत्पुण्यभागिनी
And if a woman performs it, she too partakes of that merit.
स्वर्ग्या समीहितसुखार्थफलप्रदा च या मृग्यते मुनिवरैः प्रवरा तिथीनाम् 4.43.
It bestows heaven, the fruits of desired happiness, and is sought by the best of sages as the foremost of lunar days.
इति श्रीभविष्ये महापुराण उत्तरपर्वणि श्रीकृष्णयुधिष्ठिरसंवादे विजयसप्तमीव्रतकथनं नाम त्रिचत्वारिंशोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the forty-third chapter named 'The Account of the Vijaya Saptamī Vow' in the dialogue between Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Yudhiṣṭhira, in the Uttaraparvan of the glorious Bhaviṣya Mahāpurāṇa.
आदित्यमण्डलविधिवर्णनम् आदित्यमंडलं नाम सर्वाशुभविनाशनम्
Description of the Sun's Mandala: The sun's mandala is said to destroy all inauspiciousness.
यवचूर्णेन शुभ्रेण कुर्याद्गोधूमजेन वा
One should make it with pure barley flour or with wheat flour.
संपूज्य भास्करं भक्त्या तदग्रे मंडलं शुभम्
Having worshipped the Sun with devotion, one should make the auspicious mandala before him.
मण्डलं तत्र संस्थाप्य रक्तवस्त्रैः सुपूजितम्
Having established that mandala there, well-honored with red cloths,
आदित्यतेजसोत्पन्नं राजतं विधिनिर्मितम्
Born from the radiance of the sun, silver is fashioned by the ordinance of fate.
(इति दानमंत्रः) कामदं धनदं धर्म्यं पुत्रदं सुखदं तव
(Thus is the mantra for giving:) May this grant desires, wealth, righteousness, sons, and happiness to you.
( इति प्रतिग्रहमंत्र) एवं दत्त्वा नरो राजन्सूर्यवद्दिवि राजते
(Thus is the mantra for accepting:) Having thus given, O King, a man shines in heaven like the sun.
दातव्यं जयसप्तम्यां तदारभ्य दिनेदिने
It should be given on the victorious Saptami, and from then on, day by day.
गोधूमचूर्णजनितं यवचूर्णजं वा आदित्यमंडलमखण्डगुडाद्यपूर्णम्
Made from wheat flour or barley flour, the unbroken solar disc should be filled with jaggery and the like.
इति श्रीभविष्ये महापुराण उत्तर पर्वणि श्रीकृष्णयुधिष्ठिरसंवादे आदित्यमंडलविधिवर्णनं नाम चतुश्चत्वारिंशोऽध्यायः
Thus, in the glorious Bhavishya Mahapurana, in the Uttara Parva, in the dialogue of Sri Krishna and Yudhishthira, is the forty-fourth chapter named 'Description of the Solar Mandala Ritual.'
त्रयोदशवर्ज्यसप्तमीव्रतवर्णनम् तामेकां वद मे देव सप्तमीं धनसौख्यदाम्
Description of the Saptami vow excluding thirteen things. O Lord, tell me of that single Saptami which bestows wealth and happiness.
श्रीकृष्ण उवाच भानोर्दिने सिते पक्षे अतीते चोत्तरायणे
Sri Krishna said: On the day of the sun, in the bright fortnight, and after the beginning of Uttarayana—
सव्रीहिकान्यवतिलान्सह माषमुद्गैर्गोधूममांसमधुमैथुनकांस्यपात्रम्
With fried barley, new sesame, together with beans, green gram, wheat, meat, honey, and a bronze vessel—
देवान्मुनीन्पितृगणान्सजलाञ्जलीभिः संतर्प्य पूज्य गगनांगणहस्तभुक्तान्
Having satisfied and worshipped the gods, sages, and groups of ancestors with offerings of water in the hand, as enjoyed by those who dwell in the sky—
यानि त्रयोदश जनैरिह वर्जितानि द्रव्याणि तानि परिहृत्य परिद्विषष्ट्या
Those thirteen substances which are prohibited here by people should be avoided, and with sixty-two—

कुक्कुटीमर्कटीव्रतवर्णनम् सोर्चितो वसुदेवेन देवक्या च युधिष्ठिर
Description of the vows of the hen and the monkey. O Yudhishthira, these were observed by Vasudeva and Devaki.
उपविष्टः कथाः पुण्याः कथयित्वा मनोहराः
Seated, having recited auspicious and delightful stories—
कंसे हते मृताः पुत्राः पुत्रा जाताः पुन. पुनः
When Kamsa was slain, the sons who had died were born again and again.
यथा चन्द्रमुखी दीप्तिर्बभूव मृतपुत्रिका त्वमेव देवकि तथा भविष्यसि न संशयः
Just as the radiant one with a moon-like face, the girl who had died, became bright, so too, Devaki, you shall become—of this there is no doubt.
चरितं किं व्रतवरं बहुसंततिकारकम्
What is the conduct, what is the supreme vow that brings forth many offspring?
तस्य राज्ञो महादेवी नाम्ना चन्द्रमुखी पुरा
Of that king, the great queen formerly was named Chandramukhi.
पुरोहितस्य तस्यैव पत्न्यासीन्मानमानिका
That very priest's wife was named Mānamānikā.
अथापि तेपि मित्रिण्यौ स्नानार्थं सरयूजले
Then, those two friends also went to the waters of the Sarayū for bathing.
स्नात्वा तु मंडल चक्रुः स्वपतेर्व्यक्तरूपिणः 4.46.
After bathing, they made a circle for their husband, who had a manifest form.
गन्धपुष्पाक्षतैर्भक्त्या पूजयित्वा यथाविधि
With fragrance, flowers, and unbroken rice, they worshipped with devotion according to the proper method.
