सप्तधान्यसमोपेतां रसधातुसमन्विताम्
She should be adorned with seven kinds of grains and with substances of taste and nourishment.
दद्यात्संपूज्य विधिवद्ब्राह्मणाय कुटुम्बिने सोपस्करां सवत्सां च धेनुं दत्त्वा क्षमापयेत्
After worshipping properly, one should give her, along with all accessories, to a householder brāhmaṇa; having given a cow with a calf and accessories, one should ask forgiveness.
क्षीराब्धिमथनोद्भूते विष्णोर्वक्षःस्थलालये
Born from the churning of the milk ocean, abiding on the chest of Viṣṇu—
ततः सुवासिनीः पूज्य वस्त्रैराभरणैः शुभैः
Then, married women are to be worshipped with auspicious garments and ornaments.
एवं यः कुरुते पार्थ भक्त्या श्रीपञ्चमीव्रतम्
In this way, O Pārtha, whoever performs the Śrīpañcamī vow with devotion—
नारी वा कुरुते या तु प्राप्यानुज्ञां स्वभर्तृतः
Or whichever woman performs it, having obtained her husband's permission—
श्रीपञ्चमीव्रतमिदं दयितं मुरारेर्भक्त्या समाचरति पूज्यभृगोस्तनूजाम्
Whoever faithfully observes this dear Śrīpañcamī vow of Murāri, worshipping the daughter of Bhṛgu—
विशोकषष्ठीव्रतवर्णनम् सर्वव्याधिप्रशमनं सर्वकर्मफलप्रदम्
Description of the Viśoka Ṣaṣṭhī vow: it removes all diseases and grants the fruits of all actions.
श्रुतं मया पूज्यमानो भानुः सर्वं प्रयच्छति
I have heard that when the Sun is worshipped, he bestows everything.
विशोक षष्ठीमतुलां वक्ष्यामि मनुजोत्तम
O best of men, I shall describe the incomparable Viśoka Ṣaṣṭhī.
माघे कृष्णतिलैः स्नातः पञ्चम्यां शुक्लपक्षतः उपवासव्रतं कृत्वा ब्रह्मचारी भवेन्निशि
In the month of Māgha, having bathed with black sesame seeds on the fifth day of the bright fortnight, one should undertake a fast and observe celibacy at night.
कृत्वा तु काञ्चनं पद्ममर्कोऽयमिति पूजयेत्
Then, having made a golden lotus, one should worship it as the Sun.
यथा विशोकं भवनं त्वयैवादित्यसर्वदा
Just as your house, O Sun, is always free from sorrow,
एवं संपूज्य षष्ठ्यां तु शक्त्या संपूजयेद्द्विजान्
In the same way, on the sixth day, one should worship the twice-born with devotion and power.
संपूज्य विप्रमंत्रेण गुडपात्रसमन्वितः
Having worshipped with the mantra for Brahmins, together with a vessel of jaggery,
अतैललवणं भुक्त्वा सप्तम्यां मौनसंयुतः 4.38.
Having eaten food without oil and salt, on the seventh day, observing silence,
अनेन विधिना सर्वमुभयोरपि पक्षयोः
By this procedure, in both fortnights, everything should be performed.
व्रतांते कलशं दद्यात्सुवर्णकमलान्वितम्
At the conclusion of the vow, one should give a pot adorned with a golden lotus.
अनेन विधिना यस्तु वित्तशाठ्यविवर्जितः
Whoever, by this procedure, free from miserliness,
यावज्जन्मसहस्राणां साग्रकोटिशतं भवेत्
For as many as a hundred crore plus a thousand births,
यंयं प्रार्थयते कामं तंतं प्राप्नोति पुष्कलम् १५. सोपींद्रलोकमाप्नोति न दुःखी जायते क्वचित्
Whatever desire one prays for, that very wish is abundantly fulfilled; he attains the world of Indra and is never born into suffering anywhere.
ये भास्करं दिनकरं करवीरपुष्पैः संपूजयंत्यभिनमंति कृतोपवासा
Those who worship Bhaskara, the Sun, with oleander flowers, bowing and having observed a fast,
इति श्रीभविष्ये महापुराण उत्तरपर्वणि श्रीकृष्णयुधिष्ठिरसंवादे विशोकषष्ठीव्रतं नामा ष्टत्रिंशत्तमोऽध्यायः
Thus, in the glorious Bhavishya Mahapurana, in the Uttara Parva, in the dialogue between Shri Krishna and Yudhishthira, this is the thirty-eighth chapter named 'The Unsorrowed Shashthi Vow.'
कमलषष्ठीव्रतवर्णनम् यामुपोष्य नरः पापविमुक्तः स्वर्गभाग्भवेत्
Description of the Kamala Shashthi Vow: He who observes it becomes free from sin and attains heaven.
मार्गशीर्षे शुभे मासि पञ्चम्यां नियतव्रतः
In the auspicious month of Margashirsha, on the fifth day, with firm observance of the vow,
शर्करासंयुतं दद्याद्ब्राह्मणाय कुटुंबिने
One should give to a Brahmin householder something mixed with sugar.
दद्यात्प्रातः कृतस्नानो भानुर्मे प्रीयतामिति
Having bathed in the morning, one should give, saying, 'May the Sun be pleased with me.'
कृत्वा कुर्यात्फलत्यागं या च स्यात्कृष्णसप्तमी
Having done so, one should offer the fruit, and also on Krishna Saptami.
तद्वै हैमं फलं दत्त्वा सुवर्ण कमलान्वितम्
By giving that golden fruit, adorned with a golden lotus,
