रमित्वा सुचिरं कालं पुनः स्वर्गगतिं लभेत् दुर्ल्लभो यो मनुष्याणां देवानां भद्रमस्तु ते
Having enjoyed for a very long time, again attains the path to heaven; rare among men and gods—may good be yours.
अंगारकेण सहिता तु सिता चतुर्थी शस्ता सुरार्च्चनविधौ पितृपिण्डदाने

काषायवाससश्चैव क्रव्यादांश्चाधिरोहति
He wears ochre garments and ascends to places where flesh-eaters dwell.
व्रजमानस्तथात्मानं मन्यते तु गतं परैः
While going, he thinks himself taken away by others.
पातकी विहीनच्छायो म्लानत्वहेतुलक्षणः
The sinner, lacking a shadow, is marked by withering and decay.
यातुधानाश्रितं यानं श्मशानस्यांतिकं नृप तैलार्द्रमात्रं स्वं देहं करवीरविभूषितम्
O king, the vehicle he uses is possessed by demons, near the cremation ground; his own body is moist with oil and adorned with oleander flowers.
तेनोपसृष्टो लभते न राज्यं राजनंदनः
Approached by him, the prince does not obtain the kingdom.
आचार्यत्वं श्रोत्रियश्च न शिष्योऽध्ययनं तथा
He does not attain the status of teacher, nor does the student gain learning.
स्नपनं तस्य कर्तव्यं पुण्येऽह्नि विधिपूर्वकम् 4.32.
A ritual bath must be performed for him on an auspicious day, according to prescribed rules.
सर्वौषधैः सर्वगन्धैर्विलिप्तशिरसस्तथा
His head should be anointed with all medicines and all fragrances.
पुष्ये च वीरनक्षत्रे तस्यैव पुरतो नृप
And, O king, in the Pushya or Viranakshatra, in his presence.
चत्वार ऋग्यजुः सामाथर्वणप्रवणास्ततः
Then four priests versed in Rig, Yajur, Sama, and Atharva Veda.
कृष्णस्य पितरं चाथ अवतारं सितं तथा विधुंतुदं बाहुलेयं नंदकस्य च धारिणम्
Then the father of Krishna, the white incarnation, Vidhuṃtuda, Bahuleya, and the bearer of Nandaka.
अश्वस्थानाद्गजस्थानाद्वल्मीकात्संगमाद्ह्रदात्
From the place of horses, from the place of elephants, from the anthill, from the confluence, from the lake.
यदाहृतं ह्येकवर्णैश्चतुर्भिः कलशैर्ह्रदात्
When water is brought from the lake in four pots of a single color.
सहस्राक्षं शतधारमृषिभिः पावनं कृतम्
The thousand-eyed, hundred-streamed water, made pure by the sages.
ॐ भगं ते वरुणो राजा भगं सूर्यो बृहस्पतिः
Om, may Varuna the king grant you fortune, may Surya and Brihaspati grant you fortune.
यत्ते केशेषु दौर्भाग्यं सीमंते यच्च मूर्द्धनि
Whatever misfortune is in your hair, at the parting, and on the crown of your head.
स्नातस्य सार्षपं तैलं स्रुवेणौदुंबरेण तु 4.32.
After bathing, sesame oil should be poured with a ladle made of udumbara wood.
मितश्च सम्मितश्चैव तथा शालकटंकटो
Measured and well-measured, as well as śālakaṭaṃkaṭa.
नामभिर्बलिमन्त्रैश्च नमस्कारसमन्वितैः
With names, with mantras for strength, and accompanied by salutations.
कृताकृतांस्तंडुलांश्च पल लौदनमेव च
Both cooked and uncooked rice, and also pala and laudana.
पुष्पान्वितं सुगन्धं च सुरां च त्रिविधामपि
With flowers, fragrant substances, and also three kinds of liquor.
दध्यन्नं पायसं चैव गुडवेष्टितमोदकम् दूर्वासर्षप पुष्पाणां दत्त्वार्घ्यं पूर्णमञ्जलिम्
Curd-rice and milk-rice, and sweet balls covered with jaggery; having offered arghya with dūrvā grass, mustard seeds, and flowers, with hands full.
रूपंदेहि जयं देहि भगं भवति देहि मे
Grant me form, grant me victory, grant me fortune, O Lady.
प्रबलं कुरु मे देवि बलविख्यातिसम्भवम् भोजयेद्ब्राह्मणान्दद्याद्वस्त्रयुग्मं गुरोरपि
Make me strong, O Goddess, with the fame that comes from strength; let one feed brāhmaṇas and give a pair of garments even to the teacher.
एवं विनायकं पूज्य ग्रहांश्चैव विधानतः
Thus, having worshipped Vināyaka and also the planets according to the rite.
