Sri Krishna said: By the words of that Brahmin woman, all this was done in ancient times.
Having enjoyed pleasures on earth and given gifts as desired,
In due course, O lord of men, Avantisundari—beautiful even among the gods—met her death.
Even if there were a thousand times a thousand mouths,
By the greatness of the third day of Chaitra, she became radiant.
Just as Krishna, whose actions are effortless, obtained Lakshmi born from the ocean,
Whatever ornaments such as bracelets she had given to the Brahmins,
She gave birth to sons possessing the prowess of Vishnu and Indra.
Thus, having attained great beauty, good fortune, and the wealth of sons,
She dwelt in the houses of the guardians of the worlds, such as Indra, in due order.
In this way, any woman who observes this auspicious vow,
No daughter in her family will ever be unfortunate.
In that household, there is no poverty, nor does disease arise; and other women who undertake the vow with the approval of a Brahmin—
They are endowed with all happiness and prosperity, and their desires remain unthwarted.
In the month of Māgha, with a footstool adorned with precious jewels, and in Caitra, with limbs anointed with clusters of various splendid flowers—
The description of the Anantara-Tritiya vow: Speak of the vow performed without interval, combined with the third lunar day.
For the welfare of all beings, especially women—
Śrī Krishna said: As declared by Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Maheśa, and the foremost of the gods—
At the beginning, in the month of Mārgaśīrṣa, one should perform this vow.
Having duly worshipped the goddess Umā with flowers, fragrances, and the like, in order—
One should partake of curd at night and sleep, free from envy.
One attains the full fruit of the Aśvamedha sacrifice; of this there is no doubt.
One should recite the Kātyāyanī mantra and offer a preparation of nālikera; one attains blessed marriage, good food, and the fruit of the Gomedha sacrifice.
On the third lunar day at the beginning of Pauṣa, with fasting and self-control—
One should sleep after partaking of ghee at night, having renounced desire beforehand.
In this way, on Kṛṣṇa-Tritiya, one should worship Pārvatī; one attains a prosperous marriage, various foods, and the fruit of the Aśvamedha sacrifice.
In the bright fortnight of Māgha, on the third lunar day, having fasted—
Then, after sipping water with kuśa grass, one should sleep on the ground with self-control; after offering obeisance at the end, one obtains the fruit of gold.
Again, in Māgha, in the dark fortnight, with purity and observance of the vow—
After partaking of honey, one should sleep at night, free from desire and anger.
