गर्भिणी सूतिका नक्तं कुमारी चाथ रोगयुक्
A pregnant woman, one who has just given birth, at night, a maiden, or one afflicted by disease—
इमामनंतफलदां तृतीयां यः समाचरेत्
Whoever observes this Anantā Tṛtīyā, which grants endless fruits—
वित्तहीनोऽपि कुर्वीत वर्षत्रयमुपोषणैः
Even one without wealth should perform it, fasting for three years.
नारी वा कुरुते या तु कुमारी विधवा तथा 4.26.
Whether a woman, a maiden, or a widow performs it—
इति पठति शृणोति वा य इत्थं गिरितनयाव्रतमिंदुलोकसंस्थः
Whoever thus recites or hears the vow of the Daughter of the Mountain, established in the world of the Moon—
श्रीकृष्ण उवाच अन्यामपि प्रवक्ष्यामि तृतीयां पापनाशिनीम्
Śrī Kṛṣṇa said: I shall declare another, a third vow, which destroys sin.
माघमासे तु संप्राप्य तृतीयां शुक्लपाक्षिकीम्
In the month of Māgha, upon the arrival of the third day of the bright fortnight—
स्नापयेन्मधुना देवीं तथैवेक्षुरसेन च
One should bathe the Goddess with honey and likewise with sugarcane juice.
दक्षिणांगानि संपूज्य ततो वामानि पूजयेत्
After worshipping her right limbs, then one should worship the left.
जंघे जानू तथा सत्यै तथोरश्च श्रियै नमः
To the shanks and knees, obeisance to Satyā; to the chest, obeisance to Śrī.
स्तनौ मदनवासिन्यै कुमुदायै च कंधरम्
To the breasts, obeisance to Madanavāsinī; to the neck, obeisance to Kumudā.
भ्रूललाटे च रुद्राण्यै शंकरायै तथालकान्
To the brows and forehead, obeisance to Rudrāṇī; to the hair, obeisance to Śaṃkarā.
नेत्रं चक्रावधारिण्यै पुष्ट्यै च वदनं पुनः
To the eyes, obeisance to the Bearer of the Disc; to the face, again, obeisance to Puṣṭi.
रंभायै वामबाहुं च विशोकायै नमः परम् 4.26.
To the left arm, obeisance to Rambhā; to Viśokā, highest homage.
एवं संपूज्य विधिवद्द्विजदांपत्यमर्चयेत्
Having thus worshipped in due form, one should honor a pair of Brāhmaṇas.
सलड्डुकं वारिकुंभं शुक्लांबरयुगं ततम्
With salaḍḍuka, a water pot, and a pair of white garments spread out—
प्रीयतामत्र कुमुदा गृह्णीयाल्लवणव्रतम्
May Kumudā be pleased here; one should undertake the salt vow.
लवणं वर्जयेन्माघे फाल्गुने च गुडं पुनः
One should avoid salt in Māgha, and in Phālguna, again, jaggery.
यारकं ज्येष्ठमासे तु आषाढे जीरकं तथा
In Jyeṣṭha, yāraka should be avoided; in Āṣāḍha, likewise, cumin.
घृतमश्वयुजे तद्वद्वर्जयेद्या च मज्जिका
In Āśvayuja, one should similarly avoid ghee, and in Mārgaśīrṣa, mustard.
व्रतांते करका पूर्णा एतेषां मासिमासि च
At the end of the vow, full water pots should be given each month.
तंडुलाञ्छ्वेतवर्णांश्च संयावमधुपूरिकाः
White rice, saṃyāva, and honey-cakes—
दध्यन्नं षड्विधं चैव भिंडयः शाकवर्तिकाः
Curd-rice of six kinds, as well as cakes and vegetable preparations.
कुमुदा माधवी गौरी रंभा भद्रा जया शिवा 4.26.
Kumudā, Mādhavī, Gaurī, Raṃbhā, Bhadrā, Jayā, and Śivā.
क्रमान्माघादि सर्वत्र प्रीयतामिति कीर्तयेत्
One should recite, in order from Māgha onwards, 'May all be pleased everywhere.'
उपवासी भवेन्नित्यमशक्तो दक्षिणे करे
One should always observe fasting; if unable, with the right hand.
कृत्वा तु कांचनीं गोधां पंचरत्नसमन्विताम्
Then, having made a golden lizard adorned with five gems.
तद्वद्गोमिथुनं सर्वं सुवर्णास्यं सितं परम्
Likewise, a pair of cows, all with golden faces, and especially white.
अनेन विधिना यश्च रसकल्याणिनीव्रतम्
Whoever observes the Rasakalyāṇinī vow according to this procedure.
भवार्बुदसहस्रं तु न दुःखी जायते क्वचित्
For a thousand crores of years, he never becomes afflicted by sorrow anywhere.
