Then, after enjoying great pleasures, when their merit is exhausted,
those men, by the influence of their virtue, approach the Lord of Dharma.
But those who have committed evil deeds see terrifying things.
They behold a face with fierce fangs and eyes twisted in a scowl.
Eighteen-armed, enraged, resembling a mass of dark collyrium,
mounted upon a great buffalo, with eyes blazing like fire,
roaring like the thunder of a doomsday cloud, as if drinking the ocean.
Death stands nearby, radiant like the fire of time.

They bear spears, tridents, goads, nooses, discs, and swords.

Countless, of great strength, cruel, and shining like collyrium.
Surrounded by this most dreadful retinue, they harshly rebuke Yama, the beneficent.
And Citragupta, the revered, instructs with words of dharma: 'O you who have committed evil deeds, who steal others' wealth, who are proud of beauty and strength, who violate others' wives—'
Whatever action one performs, that one must experience again.
Why do you now suffer, tormented by your own deeds?
These rulers of the earth have now arrived near me.
O kings, you of evil conduct, destroyers of your people,
Through greed for power or delusion, or by force and injustice, you oppress your subjects.
The kingdom and the wife for whose sake evil was committed—
Let us see that power of yours by which the people were destroyed.

Having thus instructed them in righteousness, the Lord of Justice again—
O fierce and most terrible one, seize these kings—
Then, rising quickly, he grasped the kings by their feet—
With all their life force, on a greatly heated stone slab—
Then, torn apart, he oozes with streams of blood—
Then, touched by the wind, he slowly comes back to life again—
Twenty-eight levels below the earth are the pits of hell—
It is said there are a hundred hells, beginning with Raurava—
In which sinners are cooked according to the measure of their deeds—
