The joints in the limbs are formed in seven months.
With eight months, the body becomes well-developed and its parts are distinct.
He remains sustained by the sixfold strength of the mother's food.
I shall now tell you, O destroyer of foes, exactly as heard.
Then, when the body is complete, the soul attains memory.
I have died and been born again; I have been born and died again.
Now, I am newly born and have attained the proper rites.
While dwelling in the womb, I contemplate the deity; having emerged from the womb, I do so as well.
Thus, he is greatly tormented by the suffering of the womb.
Just as someone stands in pain, pressed down by a great mountain,
Or as one fallen into the ocean remains overwhelmed by sorrows,
Or as someone placed in an iron pot is cooked by fire,
And as one constantly pierced by needles glowing like fire,
There is no dwelling more painful anywhere than the womb.
Thus, the suffering of the womb for living beings has been described.
The pain from the pressure of the birth passage is ten million times greater than that of the womb.
As one is tormented by arrows, so is he pressed on all sides by the birth passage.
Just as sesame seeds are crushed and their essence removed by a press,
So, bound by bones, marrow, skin, flesh, and sinews, he is constrained.
Covered by hair, body hair, and grass, it is a seat of disease and suffering.
With the two lips as doors, furnished with teeth, tongue, and palate,
Afflicted by old age and sorrow, situated in the fire of the wheel of time,
Tormented by the thirst for enjoyment, deluded, following the sway of passion and hatred.
Having emerged through the narrow, confined birth passage,
Thus, this body-house is said to be impermanent for the eternal self.
Because the body is produced from the union of semen and blood.
Just as a pot is not pure on the outside if it is filled with impurity within,
So too, even after obtaining purifying substances and the five sacred offerings here,
Even when the body is cleansed with pañcagavya, kuśa grass, and water,
If its channels constantly flow, as streams from a mountain,
