एतत्कृत्वादित्यसमो भवतीति न संशयः
By doing this, one becomes equal to the sun—of this there is no doubt.
प्रासादशोभनं स्याद्वै कृत्वा तद्भरतर्षभ
A splendid temple will result, O best of the Bharatas, by performing that.
ततोर्घ्यपात्रं पुष्पैश्च पूजयेद्विधिवनृप
Then, O King, one should worship with an arghya vessel and flowers, according to the proper method.
पद्ममुद्रा पुष्पगर्भा देवं शिरसि विन्यसेत्
With the lotus gesture, containing flowers, one should place the deity upon the head.
हृदयेनार्घ्यसंयुक्तां पूजां बध्नीत भारत
With the heart joined to the arghya, one should perform the worship, O Bhārata.
यथाशक्ति जपं कुर्यात्सुव्रती वाग्यतेन्द्रियः
One who is steadfast in vows, with restrained speech and senses, should recite as much as possible.
न क्वचित्प्रतिघातः स्यान्न चापि दुरितं भवेत्
There will be no obstruction anywhere, nor will any misfortune arise.
देवं विसर्जयेत्पश्चाद्धृदयेन महीपते
Afterwards, O King, one should dismiss the deity with the heart.
इति श्रीभविष्ये महापुराणे ब्राह्मे पर्वणि सप्तमीकल्पे सौरधर्मे सौरार्चनविधिवर्णनं नाम द्वादशाधिकद्विशततमोऽ ध्यायः
Thus, in the glorious Bhaviṣya Mahāpurāṇa, in the Brāhma Parvan, in the Saptamī section, is the two hundred and twelfth chapter named 'Description of the Method of Sūrya Worship in the Sūrya Dharma.'
सौरार्चनविधिवर्णनम् अव्यात्तु सपरीवारं घुकारं परिकीर्तयेत्
Description of the method of Sūrya worship: One should recite the syllable 'ghu' together with its retinue.
एवं कृते शोधनं स्यात्पावकस्य न संशयः
When this is done, purification of fire takes place, without doubt.
आवाहितो भवेद्देवदेवः साक्षान्न संशयः
The god of gods is verily invoked—of this there is no doubt.
पञ्चाहुतीस्ततो दद्यादंगानां प्रीतये नृप
Then, O king, he should offer five oblations for the satisfaction of the bodily elements.
इति श्रीभविष्ये महापुराणे ब्राह्मे पर्वणि सप्तमीकल्पे सौरार्चनविधिवर्णनं नाम त्रयोदशाधिकद्विशततमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the two hundred and thirteenth chapter, entitled 'Description of the Procedure for Worshipping the Sun,' in the Saptamī Section of the Brahma Parvan of the glorious Bhaviṣya Mahāpurāṇa.
मरिचसप्तमीव्रतवर्णनम् अर्किणी ज्वालिनी चैव तेजनी च गभस्तिनी
The description of the Marīca Saptamī vow: Arkiṇī, Jvālinī, Tejanī, and Gabhastinī—
शंखमुद्रा च दशमी सूर्य वक्त्रा तथापरा
Śaṅkhamudrā, Daśamī, and another called Sūrya-vaktrā—
दद्यादर्घ्यं तु पद्मिन्या व्योम बद्धा जपेद्बुधः
One should offer arghya with a lotus, and, with hands joined above the head, recite the mantra.
अर्किण्या पश्यते सूर्यं विधिस्थस्तु भवेद्यदि
If, according to the prescribed rule, one looks at the sun through the Arkiṇī mudrā—
सप्ताहाद्वीक्षते सूर्यं सिध्यते च ततः स्वयम्
After seven days, he beholds the sun, and then the accomplishment arises by itself.
जपञ्छतसहस्रं हि अक्षयं लभते निधिम्
Reciting one hundred thousand times, he attains an inexhaustible treasure.
अहोरात्रोषितो भूत्वा बद्ध्वा सूर्यमुखो नरः
Having fasted day and night, and forming the Sūrya-mukha mudrā, a man—
पश्यते तु त्र्यहात्सूर्यं भवेत्सिद्धिश्च मानसी
If he beholds the sun for three days, he attains the fulfillment of his mental desire.
जपेदयुतमात्रं तु भवेत्तद्गतमानसः
If he recites ten thousand times, with his mind absorbed in that, he—
स पश्यति परं धाम भवेत्सिद्धिश्च पुष्कला 1.214.
He sees the supreme abode and attains abundant accomplishment.
सर्वतः कञ्चुकं मुक्त्वा भवेद्वै विगत ज्वरः
Having cast off all coverings, he becomes free from fever.
परौ गुल्फौ करौ कृत्वा संलग्नौ च परस्परम्
Placing both ankles and hands together, joined with each other—
वामा दक्षिणया चैव दक्षिणा वामया तथा
With the left joined to the right, and the right likewise to the left—
बद्धया चानया सद्यो हीयंते व्याधयो नृणाम्
By binding in this way, diseases of men are immediately removed.
सर्वत्रैवोत्तमा ह्येषा मंत्रमुष्टिरिति स्मृता
This is always considered the best everywhere and is known as the 'mantra fist.'
बध्नीयात्सततं मन्त्रैरायुरारोग्यवृद्धये
One should always bind it with mantras for the increase of lifespan and health.
