हिरण्यगर्भः समवर्तता षष्ठं बीजं प्रकीर्तितम्
The sixth seed is proclaimed as 'hiraṇyagarbhaḥ samavartatā'.
एवं बीजानि विन्यस्य आदित्यं स्थापयेद्द्विजः
Thus, having placed the seeds, the twice-born should establish the Sun.
बाह्यतो देवशार्दूल इन्द्रादीनां समंततः
Outside, O tiger among gods, he should place Indra and the others all around.
सर्वलक्षणसंयुक्तं सर्वाभरणभूषितम्
Endowed with all marks and adorned with every ornament.
वर्तुलं तेन बिंबेन मध्यस्थमतितेजसम्
With that circular disc, the exceedingly radiant one is placed at the center.
ध्यात्वा संपूजयेन्नित्यं स्थंडिलं मंडलाश्रितम्
Having meditated, he should daily worship the altar situated in the mandala.
आदित्यपूजाविधिवर्णनम् विष्णुरुवाच मण्डलस्थं सुरश्रेष्ठ विधिना येन भास्करम्
Description of the method of worshipping the Sun.
पूजयेद्विधिना येन भास्करं पद्मसंभवम्
He should worship the Sun, born from the lotus, according to the prescribed method.
साधु कृष्ण महाबाहो साधु पृष्टोऽस्मि सुव्रत
Well done, O Krishna, mighty-armed one, well asked, O virtuous one.
इषे त्वेति च मन्त्रेण उत्तमांगं सदार्चयेत्
With the mantra 'iṣe tveti', he should always worship the highest limb.
अग्न आयाहि मन्त्रेण पादौ देवस्य पूजयेत्
With the mantra 'agna āyāhi', one should worship the feet of the deity.
योगयोगति मंत्रेण मुक्तपुष्पांजलिं क्षिपेत्
With the mantra 'yogayogati', one should offer a handful of loose flowers.
इमं मे गंगेति यत्प्रोक्तमनेनापि च भूधर
And with the mantra 'imaṃ me gaṃge', as has been prescribed, O mountain, one should do likewise.
स्नापयेत्पयसा कृष्ण आप्यायस्वेति मन्त्रतः
One should bathe (the deity) with milk, reciting the mantra 'kṛṣṇa āpyāyasva'.
तेजोऽसि शुक्रमिति च घृतेन स्नपनं परम्
And with the mantra 'tejo'si śukram', one should perform the supreme bathing with ghee.
उद्वर्तयेत्ततो द्विपदाभिः सुराधिप
Then, O lord of the gods, one should anoint (the deity) with two feet using fragrant substances.
विष्णोरराटमन्त्रेण स्नापयेद्गन्धवारिणा
With the mantra 'viṣṇorarāṭa', one should bathe (the deity) with perfumed water.
इदं विष्णुर्विचक्रमे मंत्रेणार्घ्यं प्रदापयेत्
With the mantra 'idaṃ viṣṇurvicakrame', one should offer arghya.
बृहस्पतेति मन्त्रेण दद्याद्वस्त्राणि भानवे
With the mantra 'bṛhaspati', one should give garments to Bhānu (the Sun).
धूरसीति च मन्त्रेण धूपं दद्यात्सगुग्गुलम्
With the mantra 'dhūrasī', one should offer incense along with guggul.
युञ्जानीति च मंत्रेण भानुं रोचनयार्चयेत्
With the mantra 'yuñjāna', one should worship Bhānu with rocanā (yellow pigment).
सहस्रशीर्षा पुरुषो रविं सरसि पूजयेत्
With the mantra 'sahasraśīrṣā puruṣa', one should worship Ravi (the Sun) in the water.
विश्वतश्चक्षुरित्येवं भानोर्देहं समालभेत्
With the mantra 'viśvataścakṣuḥ', one should meditate upon the body of Bhānu.
इति श्रीभविष्ये महापुराणे ब्राह्मे पर्वणि सप्तमीकल्पे सौरधर्म आदित्यपूजाविधिवर्णनं नाम द्व्यधिकद्विशततमोऽध्यायः
Thus, in the Śrī Bhaviṣya Mahāpurāṇa, in the Brāhma Parvan, in the Saptamī Kalpa, this is the two hundred and second chapter, named 'Description of the Procedure for Worshipping Āditya according to the Sauradharma.'
भास्कराराधनविधिवर्णनम् व्योमपूजाविधिं ब्रूहि समासाच्चतुरानन
Description of the procedure for worshipping Bhāskara.
अष्टशृंगं यथा व्योम पूजयंति मनीषिणः
O four-faced one, tell me concisely the method of worshipping the sky.
सौवर्णं राजतं ताम्रं कृत्वा चाश्ममयं तथा
The wise worship the sky as having eight peaks, making it of gold, silver, copper, and also of stone.
प्रथमं पूजयेद्भानुं मध्ये मंत्रेण सुव्रत
First, O virtuous one, one should worship Bhānu in the center with a mantra.
त्रातारमिंद्रं मंत्रेण सर्वशृंगं सदार्चयेत्
One should always worship Indra, the protector, with the mantra, honoring all the horns.
आयं गौरिति मन्त्रेण नैर्ऋ(कृ)तं शृंगमर्चयेत्
With the mantra 'āyaṃ gaur iti', one should worship the southwestern horn.
