तदा मृतानां तद्वत्स्यादन्येषां तु यथासुखम्
At that time, for the dead, the same applies; for others, as is convenient.
कलाशिल्पानिसर्वाणि गृह्रीयात्परितुष्टये
One may acquire all arts and crafts for the sake of satisfaction.
शुश्रूषेत पतिं भार्या परितोषं यथा व्रजेत्
A wife should serve her husband so that she may attain his satisfaction.
वृद्धाऽपुत्रा यदि मृता तदभावे नृपस्य तु
If an elderly woman without a son dies, in her absence, the king should act.
कुर्यादनिर्वृतं भर्तुर्गते सन्निहितेपि वा 1.186.
He should perform the unsatisfied rites for the husband, whether he is absent or present.
स्त्री धर्मचारिणी साध्वी मृता दाह्या तथाग्निभिः
A virtuous woman, devoted to righteousness, when dead, should be cremated with fire.
स्त्रीणां नियोगो विहितो मरणाद्ब्रह्मचारकम्
For women, the practice of niyoga is prescribed after death, with a celibate man.
तस्माद्धर्मं सदा कुर्यात्कुर्वती स्वर्गमाप्नुयात्
Therefore, one should always perform righteousness; by doing so, she attains heaven.

सर्वस्वं जीवितं वापि दद्यादश्रद्धया च यः
Even if one gives all his possessions or his very life without faith,
एवं श्रद्धामयाः सर्वे मम धर्माः प्रकीर्तिताः
Thus, all my dharmas are described as being composed of faith.
अधिकारस्य प्राप्त्यर्थं महासारविमुक्तिदम्
For the attainment of authority, which grants liberation of great essence,
नानासिद्धिकरं दिव्यं लोकचित्तानुरंजनम्

मन्मानससमुद्रो हि द्विपदोयं विदुर्बुधाः
Indeed, the ocean of my mind is known by the wise as this two-footed being.
देवत्रयगुणातीतः सर्वज्ञः सर्ववित्प्रभुः
He is beyond the qualities of the three gods, all-knowing, the lord who knows everything.
यथानादिप्रवृत्तोयं घोरः संसारसागरः
Just as this terrible ocean of worldly existence has flowed on from beginningless time,
व्याधीनां भेषजं यद्वत्प्र तिपक्षस्वभावतः 1.187.
So too, as medicine is for diseases, by its very nature opposed to them,
ममाभिधानमन्त्रोयमभिधेयः सदा स्मृतः
