सूर्यज्ञानैकपरमः सूर्यभक्तिसमन्वितः
Supremely devoted to knowledge of the Sun, endowed with devotion to the Sun—
आग्नेयदिग्विभागे तु पुरी तेजस्वती शुभा
In the southeastern direction stands a city, radiant and auspicious—
तत्र ज्वाला समाकीर्णो दीप्तांगारसमद्युतिः
There, surrounded by flames, with the brilliance of glowing embers—
आदित्याराधनरत आदित्यगतमानसः
Engaged in the worship of the Ādityas, with mind absorbed in the Ādityas—
वैवस्वती पुरी रम्या दक्षिणेन महात्मनः
The delightful city of Vaivasvati lies to the south of the great soul.
तत्र कुन्देंदुसंकाशो हरिपिंगललोचनः
There, one shines like a white lotus, with eyes tawny like a lion.
अन्तकोऽथ महातेजाः सूर्यधर्मपरायणः
Antaka, possessed of great brilliance, devoted to the dharma of the sun, is there.
नैर्ऋते दिग्विभागे तु पुरी कृष्णेति विश्रुता
In the region of the southwest, the city called Krishna is renowned.
तत्र कुन्दनिभो देवो रक्तस्रग्वस्त्र भूषणः
There, the god resembling a lotus, adorned with red garlands, garments, and ornaments, resides.
रक्षेंद्रो वसते नित्यमादित्याराधने रतः 1.178.
Rakshendra dwells there always, engaged in the worship of Aditya.
पश्चिमे तु दिशो भागे पुरी शुद्धवती सदा
In the western region, the city called Shuddhavati is ever pure.
तत्र कुन्देदुसंकाशो हरिपिंगल लोचनः
There, one shines like a white lotus, with eyes tawny like a lion.
यशोवती पुरी रम्या ऐशानीं दिशमाश्रिता तेजःप्राकारपर्यंता अनौपम्या सदोज्वला
The charming city of Yashovati is situated in the northeast direction, surrounded by radiant walls, incomparable and always shining.
तत्र कुंदेंदुसंकाशश्चांबुजाक्षो विभूषितः ईशानः परमो देवः सदा शांतिं प्रयच्छतु
There, one shines like a white lotus, with lotus eyes, adorned; Ishana, the supreme god, may he always grant peace.
भूलोके तु भुवर्लोके निवसंति च ये सदा
In the earthly realm and in the realm of space, those who always reside there—
महर्लोके जनोलोके परलोके गताश्च ये
In the realm of Maharloka, Janaloka, and those who have gone to the supreme realm—
सरस्वती सूर्यभक्ता शांतिदा विदधातु मे सूर्यभक्त्याश्रिता देवी विभूतिं ते प्रयच्छतु
May Sarasvati, devoted to the sun, bestow peace upon me; may the goddess, established in devotion to the sun, grant you prosperity.
हरेण सुविचित्रेण भास्वत्कनकमेखला
By Hari, adorned with a splendid, shining golden girdle—
इति श्रीभविष्ये महापुराणे ब्राह्मे पर्वणि सप्तमीकल्पे सौरधर्मवर्णनं नामाष्टसप्तत्यु त्तरशततमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the seventy-eighth chapter, named 'Description of the Dharma of the Sun,' in the Brahma section of the glorious Bhavishya Mahapurana, in the Saptami Kalpa.
सौरधर्मवर्णनम् श्रीमन्मृगशिरो भद्रा आर्द्रा चाप्यपरोज्ज्वला
Description of the Dharma of the Sun: The auspicious Mrigashira, Bhadra, and Ardra are also exceedingly radiant.
पुनर्वसुस्तथा पुष्य आश्लेषा च तथाधिप
Likewise, Punarvasu, Pushya, and Ashlesha are their lords.
अर्चयंति सदा देवमादित्यं सुरते सदा
They always worship the god Aditya with devotion.
मघा सर्वगुणोपेता पूर्वा चैव तु फाल्गुनी
Maghā, endowed with all virtues, and also Pūrvā Phālgunī,
अर्चयंति सदा देवमादित्यं सुरपूजितम्
Always worship the god Āditya, who is honored by the gods.
अनुराधा तथा ज्येष्ठा मूलं सूर्यपुरःसरा
Anurādhā, as well as Jyeṣṭhā, and Mūla, with the Sun at their forefront,
अभिजिन्नाम नक्षत्रं श्रवणं च बहुश्रुतम्
The constellation named Abhijit, and Śravaṇa, renowned for learning,
भास्करं पूजयंत्येताः सर्वकालं सुभाविताः
These, possessing noble intent, worship Bhāskara at all times.
धनिष्ठा शतभिषा तु पूर्वभाद्रपदा तथा
Dhaniṣṭhā and Śatabhiṣā, and likewise Pūrvabhādrapadā,
उत्तरा भाद्ररेवत्यौ चाश्विनी च महामते 1.179.
Uttarabhādrapadā, Revatī, and Aśvinī as well, O wise one,
सूर्यार्चनरता नित्यमादित्यगतमा नसाः
Are ever devoted to worshipping the Sun, their essence joined with Āditya.
