तृप्तिदं सर्वदेवानां भास्करप्रियमुत्तम्
It satisfies all the gods and is most dear to the Sun.
देवालयस्य विधिवत्कुर्यादग्निप्रबोधनम्
One should properly awaken the fire in the temple of the gods.
भूर्भुवःस्वरिति स्वाहा प्रणवेन समन्वितम्
Uttering 'bhūḥ bhuvaḥ svaḥ' together with the sacred syllable Om and 'svāhā'.
धराधराय शान्ताय सहस्राक्षिशिराय च
To the peaceful one who supports the earth, and to the thousand-eyed, one should offer.
अधोमुखाय श्वेताय स्वाहा पूर्वाहुतिं सृजेत् । 1.175.
To the downward-facing, the white one, with 'svāhā', the first oblation should be made.
पद्मवर्णाय वेधाय कमण्डलुधराय च
To the lotus-hued, to the creator, and to the one holding a water-pot.
हेमवर्णाय देहाय ऐरावतगताय च
To the golden-bodied, and to the one who rides Airavata.
देवाधिपाय चेन्द्राय विहस्ताय शुभाय च
To the lord of the gods, to Indra, to the one with beautiful hands.
दीप्ताय व्यक्तदेहाय ज्वालामालाकुलाय च
To the shining one, with a manifest body, adorned with a garland of flames.
यमाय धर्मराजाय दक्षिणाशामुखाय च
To Yama, to the king of righteousness, and to the one facing the southern direction.
नीलजीमूतवर्णाय रक्तांबरधराय च
To the one of dark cloud hue, and to the one wearing red garments.
शुक्लवस्त्राय पीताय दिव्यपाशधराय च
To the one clad in white, to the yellow one, and to the divine holder of the noose.
कृष्णपिंगलनेत्राय वायव्याभिमुखाय च
To the one with black and tawny eyes, and to the one facing the northwest.
स्वाहेति पवनायेह आहुतिं चोत्सृजेद्बुधः
Uttering 'svāhā', the wise should offer the oblation here to the Wind.
महोदराय शांताय स्वाहाधिपतये तथा 1.175.
To Mahodara, the peaceful one, the lord of offerings, thus.
श्वेताय श्वेतवर्णाय चित्राक्षाय महात्मने
To the white one, of white complexion, with variegated eyes, the great soul.
ईशानाभिमुखायेह दद्यादीशाय चाहुतिम्
Facing Īśāna here, one should offer oblation to Īśa.
एवं देवं महात्मानं पावकं विधिवत्खग
Thus, to the great-souled god Pāvaka, the ritual should be performed, O Khaga.
लक्षहोमं च विधिवत्कृत्वा शांतिकमाचरेत्
Having properly performed the hundred-thousand oblation, one should undertake the pacifying rite.
महाहोमे च वै सौर एष एव विधिः परः
And in the great solar offering, this is indeed the supreme procedure.
शांत्यर्थं सर्वलोकानां ततः शांतिकमाचरेत्
For the peace of all worlds, thereafter one should perform the pacifying rite.
सहस्रकिरणो देवः सप्ताश्वरथवाहनः
The god with a thousand rays, whose chariot is drawn by seven horses.
करोतु ते महाशांतिं ग्रहपीडानिवारिणीम्
May he grant you great peace, removing afflictions caused by the planets.
दशाश्ववाहनो देव आत्रेय श्चामृतस्रवः सोमः सौम्येन भावेन ग्रहपीडां व्यपोहतु
The god whose chariot is drawn by ten horses, Ātreya, who pours forth nectar—Soma, with a gentle nature, may he dispel planetary afflictions.
पद्मरागनिभो भौमो मधुपिंगल लोचनः 1.175.
The Bhauma, resembling padmarāga, with honey-colored eyes.
पुष्परागनिभेनेह देहेन परिपिंगलः
Here, with a body resembling puṣparāga, he is tawny.
तप्तगैरिकसंकाशः सर्वशास्त्रविशारदः
Resembling heated ochre, skilled in all scriptures.
बृहस्पतिरिति ख्यात अर्थशास्त्रपरश्च यः
Known as Bṛhaspati, devoted to the science of wealth.
ग्रहपीडां विनिर्जित्य करोतु तव शांतिकम्
Having conquered planetary afflictions, may he grant you peace.
हिमकुंदेंदुवर्णाभो दैत्यदानवपूजितः
Resembling snow, jasmine, and moon in color, worshipped by demons and danavas.
