Therefore, one should meditate on him, with a vow, for as long as one lives.
He who always persists without worshipping Sūrya,
Having worshipped Sūrya, one should enjoy the lord of the gods, Divākara; bound by human skin, he is Ravi—there is no doubt.
Indeed, there is no merit greater than the worship of Arka.
Those who follow the teachings of Sūrya and are devoted to his worship,
Are heroes who endure all dualities, whose minds are instructed by the rules of conduct.
Without pride, intelligent, free from manifest rivalry, and devoid of longing.
Of few words, good-minded, courageous, and skilled in scripture.
Freed from deceit and envy, devoid of thirst and greed.
Even amidst sense objects, they remain untouched, like a lotus leaf by water.
Those whose minds are cultivated become gentle and devoted to the company of the virtuous.
They do not act impulsively, being free from all distractions.
Thus, people endowed with such conduct exist on earth.
The Sun is always worthy of worship, for he abides in these virtues and saves one who is falling from the great ocean of hell.
Even the merit of giving, whether to the worthy or unworthy, belongs to him.
If a person performs an act in that abode, even with material means,
Among all twice-born and others, someone may attain knowledge.
Until then, they wander in the cycle of existence, overwhelmed by suffering and sorrow.
Anointing the Sun is meritorious, and using sandalwood is considered twice as virtuous.
Especially with black aguru, the result is regarded as twice as great.
Whether one prepares few or many offerings for the Sun sacrifice,
Whatever is desired or undesired, both come by rightful means.
Whoever worships with hypocrisy or even with difficulty,
Abandoning everything else, one should always keep the mind fixed solely on the Sun.
Life passes quickly, and so does youth.
Until death arrives, until old age overtakes,
There is no act in the three worlds equal to the worship of the Sun, nor any greater righteousness.
Those who, with devotion, worship the Lord of gods, the Sun—peaceful, unborn, and sovereign—
Having worshipped the lord of cows with an inwardly joyful heart,
I always bow to Ravi, the guide on the path of the gods.
