Whose knowledge, yoga, austerity, sacrifices, charity, and noble deeds—
Harsh words burn the vital points, bones, life, and heart.
Forgiveness, charity, brilliance, and truth—all arise from forgiveness and non-violence, like the sun.
Thus, in the glorious Bhavishya Mahapurana, in the Brahma Parvan, in the Seventh Kalpa, in the section on Solar Dharma, this is the one hundred seventy-first chapter, entitled 'Description of the Practice of Feeding the Bhojakas.'
Description of Solar Dharma: That which is always dear to the Sun, that which is solar, is pure and destroys sin.
Whenever one goes somewhere and sees the worship of the Sun being performed—
With bathing, offerings of food, garments, and various ornaments—
Having seen the temple, one should enter, bow, and proceed to the Sun.
Having heard, one should go to the ground and worship the Bhojaka; with devotion and ability, one should offer food to the Magas and give gifts as one is able.
Together with oneself, one should honor ten ancestors before and ten after, O descendant of Bharata.
On occasions of divine festivals, ancestral rites, and auspicious days,
the ancestors of all the gods are established, taking refuge in the Sun.
And whenever worship of the Sun is performed with faith and devotion,
O great king, the fruit gained by the one who offers food is equal to that obtained in the realm of the gods.
He who beholds with a serene mind, who neither hates nor desires,
who is endowed with knowledge and wisdom, and is united with devotion to the Sun,
From the dharma of the Sun arises knowledge, and from knowledge, detachment is born.
And through union with the Sun, one becomes all-knowing, complete, and perfectly content.
Among all beings, the supreme person is regarded as the highest.
Among those who know the Vedas from the texts, those who contemplate the essence of truth are superior.
Among countless millions who seek knowledge, the yogis are considered the best.
The ancestors are born of yoga; they are knowers of yoga and established in yoga.
Whatever fruit is obtained by all-knowing austerities, gifts, and offerings,
and by the one who is the essence of all collections of offerings, the fee, the oblation, and the priest,
Celibacy, austerity, silence, forgiveness, and moderation in food—
and whatever is prescribed, distinguished, or rightly obtained—
which increases by thousands and causes all crops to grow,
having made the earth united under one umbrella, let it be given to the twice-born.
A king should give an adorned maiden to a poor man; to a Brahmin learned in the Vedas, this is called the gift of a maiden.
She should be free from all faults, suitable to the family, and adorned.
