यावत्प्रदीपसंख्यानं घृतेनापूर्य बोधितम्
As many lamps as are counted, fill them with ghee and make them ready.
दीपवृक्षमथोद्बोध्य पर्वस्वायतनेषु वै 1.164.
Then awaken the lamp-tree at the festival occasions in the temples.
दीपवृक्षं समुद्बोध्य भास्करायतनेषु भोः
Awaken the lamp-tree, O dear one, in the temples of the Sun.
शिरसा धारयेद्दीपं भास्करस्याग्रतो निशि
One should hold the lamp upon the head before the Sun at night.
भास्करायुतसंकाशो विमानैरर्कसन्निभैः
He shines like ten thousand suns, with aerial chariots resembling the Sun.
अन्नदाता तु यो वीर वीरलोके मही यते
The one who gives food, O hero, is honored in the realm of heroes.
पर्यंके शोभितं कृत्वा श्वेतमाल्यैः सचन्दनैः कल्पायुतसहस्राणि सूरलोके महीयते
Having adorned the couch with white garlands and sandalwood, he is honored in the world of the Sun for thousands of aeons.
कृत्वा प्रदक्षिणं भक्त्या श्रद्दधानो रवेर्नरः
A man who circumambulates with devotion and faith around the Sun—
कृत्वा प्रदक्षिणं यस्तु नमस्कारं प्रयोजयेत्
Whoever, after circumambulating, offers salutations—
नमस्कारः स्मृतो यज्ञः सर्वयज्ञो त्तमोत्तमः
Salutation is regarded as sacrifice, the highest among all sacrifices.
प्रणम्य दंडवद्भूमौ नमस्कारेण योऽर्चयेत्
He who worships by prostrating on the ground with salutations—
सर्वयज्ञोपवासेपु सर्वतीर्थेषु यत्फलम् 1.164.
The fruit obtained from fasting for all sacrifices and at all sacred places—
श्वेतं महाध्वजं कृत्वा कृत्वा चापं च रंगकम् यस्त्वर्यम्णे नरो दद्याच्छ्रद्धया परयान्वितः
Having made a great white banner and a colored bow, the man who gives it to Aryaman, endowed with supreme faith—
स शतेन विमानानां सर्वदेव नमस्कृतः
He is honored by all the gods with a hundred aerial chariots.
ध्वजमालाकुलं कुर्याद्यः प्रांतेषु भगालयम्
Whoever makes a temple adorned with garlands of banners at the boundaries—
स विमानसहस्रेण ध्वजमालाकुलेन तु
He, with a thousand aerial chariots and garlands of banners—
शतचन्द्रांशुविमलं मुक्तादामोपशोभितम्
Adorned with a string of pearls, pure as a hundred moonbeams—
स धार्यमाणच्छत्रेण हेमदंडोपशोभिना
He is honored with a parasol held aloft, shining with a golden staff.
ततस्तस्माच्च्युतो लोकान्निसर्गाद्भुवमागतः
Then, having fallen from that, he came to the earth from those worlds at the beginning of creation.
यः शृंखलासमायुक्तां महाघण्टां महास्वनाम्
He who is adorned with chains and a great bell of mighty sound—
शोभनः स्यान्नरः श्रीमान्भगस्यातीव वल्लभः
Such a man becomes splendid, prosperous, and greatly beloved by fortune.
भेरीमृदंगपटहझर्झरीमर्दलादिकम् 1.164.
With kettledrums, mridangas, drums, cymbals, and other such instruments—
स विमानैर्महाभागेर्वंशवीणायुतस्वनैः
He, exceedingly fortunate, is accompanied by aerial chariots resounding with the music of many lutes.
सुसंगीतकदानेन सवाद्येन विशेषतः
By giving well-performed music, especially with instruments—
महामहास्वनं दत्त्वा शंखयुग्मं भगालये
Having offered a pair of conches with a great, resounding sound in the abode of Bhaga—
विमानं बहुवर्णाभं मध्ये पंकजभूषितम्
A celestial chariot, shining with many colors and adorned with a lotus in the center—
किंकिणीजालसंपन्नं वर्णकैश्चोपशोभितम्
Endowed with a network of small bells and beautified with colored decorations—
भगस्योपरि यो दद्यात्सर्वरत्नोपशोभितम्
Whoever offers this, adorned with all jewels, above the seat of Bhaga—
पट्टादिवस्त्रतंतूनां परिसंख्या तु या भवेत्
As for the number of threads in silken and other cloths—
भगाहुत्या जगत्सर्वं सृष्टिद्वारेण धार्यते
By the offering to Bhaga, the entire world is upheld through the gateway of creation.
