He removes all the sins of mortals, even by being seen or touched.
He enjoys, like the Sun, eternal happiness in heaven together with the gods.
With flowers of delightful fragrance and with various fruits, O king,
Endowed with many kinds of tastes and blended with many fragrances,
One should offer, in the western part, fragrant sandalwood and auspicious camphor.
Thus, according to one's wealth, having made an extensive arrangement,
But even if one does it just once, O best of Bharatas,
Freed from all sins, devoid of all suffering, radiant like the sun, shining with a brilliance equal to the orb of the sun.
Whoever, while playing with dust, would make the sky without proper purpose—
Among all vessels, the supreme vessel is fire.
The greatness of that vessel is certainly imperishable, it should be declared.
Whatever is given, offered, recited, or presented as offering or worship to the sun—
Whoever, according to his means, builds a temple for the sun with devotion—
Even one endowed with great wealth, if he acts without devotion—
If a wealthy man acts with miserliness regarding wealth—
Therefore, one should set aside a third part of one's wealth for livelihood.
Even a man of little means, if prompted by devotion, should act.
Even if one gives everything to the sun, but without devotion—
Not by severe austerities, nor by all great sacrifices—
Whoever builds a beautiful house for the sun, made from auspicious stone—
Whatever is made by me with bricks, multiplied a crore times—
The merit is to be considered equal for both the wealthy and the poor, whether with clay or stone.
Whether made from stone, bricks, or firmly from wood, and adorned, riding in a red vehicle, wearing ornaments—
Even while playing, whoever, in childhood, builds a temple for the sun—
Filled with garlands of flowers, divine, and perfumed with incense and fragrance—
There, O great king, the excellent group of years is established.
Gradually arriving in this world, a king becomes righteous.
Seeing and avoiding creatures with gentle and subtle cleaning.
