The Vālakhilyas and others, and all who dwell in every stage of life—
He who is called 'sacrifice,' O best of Brahmins, is worshipped by those who desire happiness—
Whom the knowers of the Vedas sing, the giver of sacrifice, the knower, I bow—
He obtained joy together with the Ādityas, and supreme happiness, O mighty one—
Madhupiṅgala, great-armed, with a neck like a conch, as if smiling—
That mighty one, full of brilliance, spoke to Kaśyapa, the foremost of sages—
Having formerly granted a boon to the great-souled Virancha, O Brahmin—
Thus, having worshipped the lord of the gods, Brahmā attained creation—
Thus ends the one hundred fifty-ninth chapter, named 'The Description of the Solar Incarnation,' in the Seventh Kalpa, concerning the greatness of both Saptamīs, in the Brahma section of the glorious Bhaviṣya Mahāpurāṇa.
Even Brahmā and others perpetually worship him according to prescribed rites—
Brahmā, Viṣṇu, and the gods, having worshipped Brahman, the Sun—
Kavi and Viṣṇu, O tiger among Kurus, went to the Himalaya—
To the vicinity of Gopatera, O hero, rejoicing at the sight of the gods—
They beheld the great-souled one, adorned with a crest made of the crescent moon—
Kavi and Viṣṇu worshipped that great-souled, three-eyed one—
Having heard the words of those two, of the lotus-born and of Acyuta—
He spoke words sweet and adorned with the syllables of instruction.
By worshipping the Sun, how did we attain the supreme lord, the best among all gods?
We have seen a certain supreme form of the god Śaṃkara.
Hearing the words of the heroic, great-souled Śaṃkara,
We do not see that form which is supremely wonderful.
Therefore, let us unite and worship the radiant Sun.
Upon hearing the words of the heroes, Hari of the lotus-born and Acyuta,
Then those tiger-like kings, O ruler, with minds resolved,
Having reached the sacred mountain adorned with three peaks,
They performed proper worship with effort for the radiant Sun.
At the end of a thousand divine years, they remained practicing austerity on the mountain.
Standing like a pillar upon the earth, with arms raised and three eyes,
Thus, at the end of a thousand years, they performed severe austerities.
Then, as Brahma, Śiva, and Viṣṇu were performing supreme austerity,
