भूतात्मानं महात्मानं दिव्यं वर्षसहस्रकम्
The great soul, the indweller of all beings, divine for a thousand years.
सुराणां शरणं देवश्चासुराणां विनाशनः
He is the refuge of the gods and the destroyer of the asuras.
आददानस्तु तेजांसि त्रैलोक्यस्य नराधिप
O king, seizing the energies of the three worlds,
प्रहत्य दैत्यसंघांश्च सुराणां नादवर्धने
Having struck down the hosts of daityas, he increased the joy of the gods.
सूर्यावतारवर्णनम् सुमंतुरुवाच दक्षः प्रजापतिश्चैव नमस्कारं चकार ह
Description of the incarnation of the Sun.
उपातिष्ठत देवेशं भानुं चर्षिगणैः सह बहुभिः सह गंधर्वैः प्रगायत्सु महीपते
Daksha, the lord of creatures, offered his salutations, and attended upon the lord of gods, Bhanu, together with groups of sages and many Gandharvas as they sang, O king.
एवं ते देवगंधर्वा उपागायंत भक्तितः
Thus, the gods and Gandharvas sang with devotion.
इन्द्रो विवस्वान्पूषा च त्वष्टा च सविता तथा इत्येकादश एवैते द्वादशो विष्णुरुच्यते
Indra, Vivasvan, Pushan, Tvashta, and Savita—these are eleven, and Vishnu is said to be the twelfth.
एवं द्वादशधा जातमंशुमंतं महाद्भुतम्
Thus, the wondrous Aṃśumant was born in twelve forms.
मृगव्याधश्च शर्वश्च मृगांकांको महायशाः
The hunter, Sharva, and the illustrious one bearing the mark of a deer.
दमनश्चेश्वरश्चैव कपाली च विशांपते
Daman, Ishvara, and Kapali, O lord of men.
अश्विनौ वसवश्चाष्टौ गरुडश्च महाबलः
The two Ashvins, the eight Vasus, and Garuda of great strength.
नागराजो महाराज वासुकिः प्रांजलिः स्थितः
The king of serpents, Vasuki, stood there with joined palms, O great king.
तार्क्ष्यश्चारिष्टनेमिश्च गरुडश्च महाबलः 1.159.
Tarkshya, Arishtanemi, and Garuda of great strength.
पितामहश्च भगवान्स्वयमागम्य लोककृत्
The blessed grandsire himself, the creator of the worlds, arrived.
यस्मात्प्रेक्षयते सर्वं प्रभविष्णुः सनातनः
Because the eternal, all-powerful Vishnu beholds everything.
देवदानवयक्षाणां गंधर्वोरगरक्षसाम्
Of the gods, danavas, yakshas, gandharvas, nagas, and rakshasas.
एवमुक्त्वा तु भगवान्सार्धं देवर्षिभिः प्रभुः
Having thus spoken, the blessed Lord, together with the divine sages, the master—
या गतिर्यज्ञशीलानां या गतिः पुण्यकर्मणाम्
The destination attained by those devoted to sacrifice, the destination attained by those performing virtuous deeds—
यस्याष्टगुणमैश्वर्यं समभूद्देवसत्तमम्.
That which possessed eightfold sovereignty, which arose in the supreme divine being—
वालखिल्यादयो ये च सर्वाश्रमनिवासिनः
The Vālakhilyas and others, and all who dwell in every stage of life—
यो यज्ञ इति विप्रेंद्रैरर्च्यते सुखमीप्सुभिः
He who is called 'sacrifice,' O best of Brahmins, is worshipped by those who desire happiness—
यं वेदविदो गायंति वेत्तारं यज्ञदायि नम् 1.159.
Whom the knowers of the Vedas sing, the giver of sacrifice, the knower, I bow—
मुदं लेभे सहादित्या सुखं च परमं विभो
He obtained joy together with the Ādityas, and supreme happiness, O mighty one—
मधुपिंगलो महाबाहुः कंबुग्रीवो हसन्निव
Madhupiṅgala, great-armed, with a neck like a conch, as if smiling—
स उवाच महातेजाः कश्यपं चर्षिसत्त मम्
That mighty one, full of brilliance, spoke to Kaśyapa, the foremost of sages—
दत्त्वा वरं पुरा विप्र विरंचस्य महात्मनः
Having formerly granted a boon to the great-souled Virancha, O Brahmin—
एवमाराध्य देवेशं ब्रह्मा सृष्टिमवाप्तवान्
Thus, having worshipped the lord of the gods, Brahmā attained creation—
इति श्रीभविष्ये महापुराणे ब्राह्मे पर्वणि सप्तमीकल्पे उभयसप्तमीमहात्म्ये सूर्यावतारवर्णनं नामैकोनषष्ट्युत्तरशतमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the one hundred fifty-ninth chapter, named 'The Description of the Solar Incarnation,' in the Seventh Kalpa, concerning the greatness of both Saptamīs, in the Brahma section of the glorious Bhaviṣya Mahāpurāṇa.
