Thus addressed by Viṣṇu with devotion, Ravi spoke these excellent words:
Excellent, excellent, O mighty-armed one; you are the youngest of Brahmā.
He is my utterly devoted devotee, always blameless and steadfast in righteousness.
This very great sphere of the heavens will become your wheel of power, and likewise, you shall have the supreme place, honored by all the worlds.
Thus, having received a boon from Bhānu, Hari, the god and lord of the world—
The radiant Bhāskara also granted a boon to Keśava, mighty in energy.
The power, strength, heroism, fame, and happiness to protect the worlds—
In this way, Brahmā and the other gods, having worshipped the Sun,
Thus, this sacred narrative, which destroys sin, has been told to you.
It is endowed with three hymns and brings about the attainment of righteousness, desire, and wealth.
Whoever listens to this daily and recites the three hymns—
A childless person obtains a son, and one without wealth enjoys riches.
He becomes radiant like the Sun in brilliance, and in splendor, like Pṛśni.
Thus ends the one hundred fifty-sixth chapter, entitled 'The Description of the Threefold Story of the Sun's Religion,' in the Saptamī Section of the Sauradharma, in the Brāhma Parvan of the glorious Bhaviṣya Mahāpurāṇa.
The account of the origin of the Sun's incarnation is now set forth: I have granted you the status of a son in the lineage of Kaśyapa.
I shall go, O best of twice-born, as the remover of all-pervading darkness.
He who is the leader of the gods and others, and every mighty progenitor upon earth—
For what purpose will he, the divine Self, assign himself to birth?
Whatever universal act of protection he performs for the world—
He who is the Sun himself, protects all by means of cows.
How can he who is unborn request a womb, O Lord?
He who, at the end of time, having consumed the universe, assumed a body made of thunder.
By his own action, he made the world into a single ocean, as is seen.
O best of twice-born, even after creating, he again fashioned the earth.
The best among the gods, having made the earth, gave it to the gods as an offering—earth with the lower realms, the essence of water, and the middle filled with water.
They say that Brahman, with a thousand feet, exists in every age.
From whose mouth arose Vedha, the grandfather of the worlds.
By whom the Daityas named Mandehas were slain.
Having made a form composed of all the gods, bearing all weapons.
He who, at the end of his hand, holds the entire world together with the Dānavas and Rākṣasas.
