After enjoying abundant pleasures, when dissolution arrives—
Or if he desires sovereignty, he is born again in another existence.
He who recites the Brahma at the three junctions of the day, having made an eight-petaled lotus—
With this very body, he remains as Brahmā on earth.
Raising up and establishing in heaven twenty-one lineages—
Even one who worships the lotus-born with devotion just once—
When his merit is exhausted, having attained the earth, he becomes a great king.
Not by extremely severe austerities, nor by all great sacrifices—
Whether with clay, wood, bricks, or stones, whoever builds a house for Brahmā—
The fruit from one made of clay is multiplied a hundredfold in one of wood or brick.
Even one who, while playing, builds a hall for Brahmā, O king—
Adorned with garlands of flowers and decorated with networks of small bells—
Adorned with a canopy of pearl garlands, shining with the brilliance of the sun.
There, the great enjoyer dwells, always sporting with the gods.
Observing and gently avoiding living beings, O king of the earth.
Whoever performs anointing with water purified by cloth—
Whoever, without interruption, sweeps and worships the wing (of the shrine)—
At the end for him, possessing the four Vedas, handsome and pleasing to behold—
Even if one makes a Brahmaśālā deceitfully, O bestower of honor—
They wander in the world, overwhelmed by suffering, sorrow, and fear, for that long.
Just as the mind of a creature becomes attached to the field of sense-objects—
Whoever repairs what is broken or cracked in the hall—
There is no god equal to Brahma, nor is there a teacher equal to Brahma.
On all lunar days and at festivals—
With the sounds of conches, drums, and other great musical instruments—
As long as the festivals last, one should perform the waving of lights according to rule, O king.
At the time of bathing and at the three junctions of the day, whoever performs dance and music—
For as many days as one performs singing, dancing, and other music—
With the five products of the tawny cow, and with water mixed with kuśa grass—
With the five products of the tawny cow, and with curd, milk, and ghee—
