सुदर्शनो महाप्राज्ञः काशीराजसुतां नृपः वर्षपञ्चसहस्राणि राज्यं चक्रे स भूपतिः
Sudarśana, the wise king, married the daughter of the king of Kāśī; he ruled the kingdom for five thousand years.
स्वप्नमध्ये वचः प्रोक्तं महाकाल्या नृपाय वै
In the midst of a dream, Mahākālī spoke words to the king.
हिमालयं गिरिं प्राप्य वासं कुरु महामते
Having reached the Himalayan mountain, dwell there, O wise one.
रत्नाकरः पश्चिमोऽब्धिस्तस्य द्वीपाः क्षयं गताः
The western ocean is the jewel-mine; its islands have perished.
वाडवोऽब्धिर्दक्षिणे च तस्य द्वीपाः क्षयं गताः
In the south, the submarine fire consumed the ocean, and its islands perished.
ये द्वीपास्तु सुविख्यातास्तेऽपि सर्वे लयं गताः
All those islands, once well-known, have also been destroyed.
सजीवः प्रलयं यायात्तस्मात्त्वं जीवितो भव
Even the living went to destruction; therefore, you should strive to survive.
प्राप्तवान्मुख्यभूपैश्च मुख्यवैश्यैर्द्विजैः सह
He arrived together with the foremost kings, the chief merchants, and the twice-born.
शर्करा च महीं प्राप्तास्ततो जीवाः क्षयं गताः 3.1.1.
Gravel covered the earth, and then the living beings perished.
शांतो भूत्वा पुनर्वायुर्जलं सर्वमशोषयत्
When the wind became calm again, it dried up all the waters.
त्रेतायुगभूपाख्यानवर्णनम् सुदर्शनो जनैः सार्द्धमयोध्यामगमत्पुनः
Description of the kings of the Tretā Age: Sudarśana, along with the people, went again to Ayodhyā.
मायादेवीप्रभावेण पुरं सर्वं मनोहरम्
By the power of the goddess Māyā, the entire city became enchanting.
दशवर्ष सहस्राणि राज्यं कृत्वा सुदर्शनः
Sudarśana ruled for ten thousand years.
नन्दिनीवरदानेन तत्पुत्रो रघुरुत्तमः
By the boon of Nandinī, his son was the illustrious Raghu.
राज्यं कृतं च रघुणा दिलीपान्ते पितुस्समम्
Raghu ruled the kingdom at the end of Dilīpa's reign, just as his father had.
विप्रस्य वरदानेन तत्पुत्रोऽज इति स्मृतः
By the boon of a Brāhmaṇa, his son was known as Aja.
पितुस्तुल्यं कृतं राज्यं तस्माद्रामो हरिः स्वयम्
He ruled the kingdom like his father; from him was born Rāma, who is Hari himself.
तस्य पुत्रः कुशो नाम राज्यं दशसहस्रकम्
His son was named Kuśa, who ruled for ten thousand years.
निबन्धो नाम तत्पुत्रः कृतं राज्यं पितुस्समम्
His son was called Nibandha, who ruled the kingdom just like his father.
पितुस्तुल्यं कृतं राज्यं तस्मान्नाभः सुतोऽभवत् 3.1.2.
He ruled the kingdom like his father; from him was born his son Nābha.
पितुस्तुल्यं कृतं राज्यं क्षेमधन्वा तु तत्सुतः
