गंतव्यं भोजराजेन महाकालेश्वरस्थले
King Bhoja must go to the place of Mahakaleshvara.
म्लेच्छैस्सुदूषिता भूमिर्वाहीका नाम विश्रुता 3.3.3.
The land called Vahika, renowned, has been thoroughly corrupted by foreigners.
बभूवात्र महामायी योऽसौ दग्धो मया पुरा
There appeared the great magician, who was once burned by me long ago.
अयोनिः स वरो मत्तः प्राप्तवान्दैत्यवर्द्धनः
He, not born from a womb, received a boon from me, the increaser of demons.
नागन्तव्यं त्वया भूप पैशाचे देशधूर्तके
You must not go, O king, to the deceitful land of the spirits.
इति श्रुत्वा नृपश्चैव स्वदेशान्पुनरागमत्
Having heard this, the king indeed returned again to his own country.
उवाच भूपतिं प्रेम्णा मायामदविशारदः
The master of illusion, skilled in intoxicating arts, spoke lovingly to the king.
ममोच्छिष्ठं सभुंजीयाद्यथा तत्पश्य भो नृप
Let him eat my leftovers, just as it is; see that, O king.
म्लेच्छधर्मे मतिश्चासीत्तस्य भूपस्य दारुणे
The king's mind became fixed in the harsh religion of the foreigners.
तच्छ्रुत्वा कालिदासस्तु रुषा प्राह महामदम्
Hearing this, Kalidasa, with anger, addressed the great intoxicator.
हनिष्यामि दुराचारं वाहीकं पुरुषाधमम्

जप्त्वा दशसहस्रं च तद्दशांशं जुहाव सः 3.3.3.
Having recited ten thousand times, he offered a tenth part in sacrifice.
गृहीत्वा स्वगुरोर्भस्म मदहीनत्वमागतम्
Taking the ashes of his own teacher, he attained freedom from intoxication.
स्थापितं तैश्च भूमध्ये तत्रोषुर्मदतत्पराः
They established it in the midst of the land, and there those devoted to intoxication remained.
रात्रौ स देवरूपश्च बहुमायाविशारदः
At night, he, in divine form, skilled in manifold illusions,
आर्य्यधर्मो हि ते राजन्सर्वधर्मोत्तमः स्मृतः
O king, the noble religion is remembered as the highest of all religions.
लिंगच्छेदी शिखाहीनः श्मश्रुधारी स दूषकः
One who is castrated, without a topknot, and who keeps a beard—he is a defiler.
विना कौलं च पशवस्तेषां भक्ष्या मता मम
For those without the Kaula rite, animals are considered food by me.
तस्मान्मुसलवन्तो हि जातयो धर्मदूषकाः
Therefore, those born with pestles are violators of dharma.
इत्युक्त्वा प्रययौ देवः स राजा गेहमाययौ
Having spoken thus, the god departed, and the king returned to his house.
शूद्रेषु प्राकृती भाषा स्थापिता तेन धीमता
Among the Shudras, the natural language was established by that wise one.
स्थापिता तेन मर्य्यादा सर्वदेवोपमानिनी 3.3.3.
By him, a boundary was established, comparable to all the gods.
आर्य्य वर्णाः स्थितास्तत्र विंध्यान्ते वर्णसंकराः
There, the Arya classes remained, and at the end of the Vindhya, there was mixture of castes.
बर्बरे तुषदेशे च द्वीपे नानाविधे तथा
In the land of the barbarians, in the region of husks, and likewise on various islands.
जाताश्चाल्पायुषो मन्दास्त्रिशताब्दान्तरे मृताः
Those born there were short-lived and dull, dying after three hundred years.
बहुभूपवती भूमिस्तेषां राज्ये बभूव ह
The earth, under their rule, became possessed of many kings.
तदन्वये त्रिभूपाश्च द्विशताब्दान्तरे मृताः
In their lineage, three kings also died after two hundred years.
कल्पक्षेत्रे च राज्यं स्वं कृतवान्धर्मतो नृपः
In the field of the kalpa, the king righteously established his own kingdom.
इंद्रप्रस्थेनंगपालस्तोमरान्वयसंभवः
From Indraprastha, the lord of Anga was born in the Tomara lineage.
अग्निवंशस्य विस्तारो बभूव बलवत्तरः
