कलौ तदर्द्धकं ज्ञेयं नृणामायुः पुरातने
In the Kali age, it should be understood that the lifespan of ancient humans was half of that.
भौम मन्वंतरे चैव सत्ये तुर्यसहस्रकम्
In the Bhauma Manvantara and in the Satya age, it is four thousand (years).
कलौ तदर्द्धकं ज्ञेयं नरायुश्चार्षसम्मतम्
In the Kali age, it should be known that the human lifespan, as accepted by the sages, is half of that.
त्रेतायां त्रिशताब्दं च द्वापरे तु तदर्द्धकम्
In the Treta age, it is three hundred years, and in the Dvapara, it is half of that.
मन्वंतरे तु यन्नाम्ना भूपाश्चासंश्चतुर्युगे
In each Manvantara, the kings who were known by name existed in the four ages.
एवमन्यत्र वै ज्ञेयं युगे तुर्ये मनौ मनौ
In this way, it should be understood elsewhere, in each fourth age, in every Manu's reign.
युगांते कर्मभूमेश्च लयः कल्पः स वै स्मृतः
At the end of the age, the dissolution of the world of action is called a kalpa.
पुराण पुरुषस्यैव दिनान्ते प्रलयो हि यः
The dissolution at the end of the day of the ancient Purusha is indeed that (pralaya).
षड्विंशत्कल्पसाहस्रैर्महाकल्पो हि यः स्मृतः 3.4.25.
A great kalpa is said to consist of twenty-six thousand kalpas.
तदा ब्रह्मा सुरैः सार्द्धं भूपं स्वायंभुवं गतः
Then Brahma, together with the gods, went to King Svayambhuva.
स्वायंभुवमनोर्मध्ये वाराहोऽभूत्स वै भुवि
In the middle of the reign of Svayambhuva Manu, the Boar (Varaha) appeared on earth.
स्वारोचिषमनोरन्ते नृसिंहोऽभूत्स वै भुवि
At the end of the reign of Svarocisha Manu, Narasimha appeared on earth.
तदौत्तममनोर्मध्ये रुद्रोऽभूत्सगणो भुवि
In the middle of the reign of Uttama Manu, Rudra appeared on earth along with his attendants.
तामसान्तेऽभवन्मत्स्यः स वै भुवि सनातनः
At the end of the Tamasa (Manu's reign), Matsya, the eternal one, appeared on earth.
वैवस्वतमनोर्मध्ये कृष्णोभूद्भुवि स प्रभुः
In the middle of the reign of Vaivasvata Manu, Krishna, the Lord, appeared on earth.
रैवतान्तेऽभवत्कूर्मः स वै भुवि सनातनः
At the end of the reign of Raivata, Kurma, the eternal one, appeared on earth.
चाक्षुषान्ते जामदग्न्योऽभवद्रामः स वै भुवि
At the end of the Cākṣuṣa era, Jāmadagnya, known as Rāma, appeared on earth.
वैवस्वतमनोरादौ वामनोऽभूत्स वै भुवि
At the beginning of Vaivasvata Manu's reign, Vāmana manifested on earth.
वैवस्वतमनोर्मध्ये कल्की नाम्नाहमागतः 3.4.25.
In the middle of Vaivasvata Manu's reign, I arrived as Kalki by name.
सावर्णिकादौ भविता बुद्धो नाम्ना स वै भुवि
At the start of Sāvarṇi's era, Buddha by name will appear on earth.
वैवस्वतमनोर्मध्ये रामो दाशरथिर्भुवि
In the middle of Vaivasvata Manu's reign, Rāma, son of Daśaratha, was present on earth.
सर्वपूज्यावतारश्च न भवेद्वै कदाचन
There will never be an incarnation who is universally worshipped.
त्रयोऽवताराः कथितास्तथा नान्यच्चतुर्युगे
Three incarnations have been described; there is no other in the four ages.
द्वापरस्य तथा कृष्णः शेषेण सह वै भुवि
In the Dvāpara age, Kṛṣṇa appeared on earth together with Śeṣa.
अतः खंडः पवित्रोऽयं नृणां पातकनाशनः
Therefore, this section is pure and destroys the sins of people.
जन्म प्रभृति पापानि तस्य नश्यंति नान्यथा
From birth onward, sins are destroyed by this; not otherwise.
द्वितीयो यो महाकल्पो विष्णुकल्पः स वै स्मृतः
The second great cycle is known as the Viṣṇu cycle.
शतकोटिप्रविस्तारो विष्णुपौराणिकस्य वै
The Viṣṇu Purāṇic cycle extends over a hundred crore.
पूर्वार्द्धाद्भगवान्ब्रह्मा .सर्वदेवसमन्वितः 3.4.25.
In the first half, the blessed Brahmā, accompanied by all the gods, presides.
