जयचंद्राज्ञया भूप उर्वीमायामिति स्मृताम्
By the order of King Jayachandra, the earth was known as Maya.
कुरुक्षेत्रे हताः सर्वे क्षत्रियाश्चंद्रवंशिनः
In Kurukshetra, all the Kshatriyas of the lunar dynasty were slain.
विंशद्वर्षं कृतं राज्यं सहोद्दीनेन वै ततः
Afterwards, he ruled for twenty years together with Uddina.
घोरवर्मा तु नृपतिः सुतः परिहरस्य वै
Ghoravarma, son of Parihara, became king.
तदन्वये च ये भूपाः शार्दूलीयाः प्रकीर्तिताः
In his lineage, the kings known as Sharduliya were renowned.
बभूव सर्वतो भूमौ महामायाप्रसादतः
By the grace of Mahamaya, prosperity arose everywhere on earth.
कुलं सकलपापघ्नं यथैव शशिसूर्ययोः 3.4.4.
The lineage destroyed all sins, just as the moon and sun do.
चाक्षुषांतरमेवापि महावायुर्बभूव ह
Then, at the beginning of the Cakshusha era, there was a great wind.
तत्प्रभावेन हेमाद्रिः कंपमानः पुनःपुनः
By that power, Mount Meru trembled again and again.
नभसो भूतले प्राप्तस्तदा भूमिः प्रकंपिता
From the sky, it descended to the earth, and then the ground was shaken.
सप्तद्वीपाः समुद्राश्च जलभूता बभूविरे
The seven continents and the oceans became composed of water.
शेषा भूमिर्लयं प्राप्ता मन्वंतरे लये
The remaining earth entered dissolution at the end of the Manvantara.
तदा स भगवान्विष्णुर्भवेन विधिना सह
Then, that blessed Lord Viṣṇu, together with Bhava and Vidhi,
गृहीत्वा सकलास्तारा ग्रहान्सर्वान्यथाविधि
Having taken all the stars and all the planets according to proper order,
पुनर्वै ज्योतिषां चक्रैः शोषिता सकला मही
Again, by the circles of the luminaries, the entire earth was dried up.
तदा स भगवान्ब्रह्मा मुखात्सोमं चकार ह
Then that blessed Lord Brahmā produced Soma from his mouth.
भुजाभ्यां भगवान्ब्रह्मा क्षत्रराजं महाबलम् 3.4.5.
With his arms, the blessed Lord Brahmā created the mighty Kṣatriya king.
ऊरुभ्यां वैश्यराजं च समुद्रं सरितां पतिम्
From his thighs, he created the Vaiśya king, lord of the rivers and the ocean.
पद्भ्यां च जनयामास विश्वकर्माणमुत्तमम्
And from his feet, he brought forth Viśvakarman, the supreme craftsman.
सोमाद्वै ब्राह्मणा जाताः सूर्याद्राजन्यवंशजाः
From Soma were born the Brāhmaṇas; from the Sun, the royal lineages.
सूर्यमंडलतो जातो मनुर्वैवस्वतः स्वयम्
From the solar orb was born Manu Vaivasvata himself.
दिव्यानां च युगानां च तज्ज्ञेयं चैकसप्ततिः
And know that the number of divine yugas is seventy-one.
विष्णुः पूर्वार्द्धतो जातः परार्द्धाद्वामनः स्वयम्
Viṣṇu was born from the first half, and from the latter half, Vāmana himself.
चतुश्शतानि वर्षाणि परमायुर्नृणां तदा
At that time, the highest lifespan of humans was four hundred years.
वर्षाणां त्रिशतानां च नृणामायुः प्रकीर्तितम्
It is declared that the lifespan of humans was three hundred years.
कलौ तु मरणं प्राप्तो विश्वरूपो हरिः स्वयम्
But in the Kali age, Viśvarūpa Hari himself met death.
परार्द्धाद्वामनो देवो महेन्द्रावरजो हरिः 3.4.5.
After the Parārdha, the god Vāmana, younger brother of Mahendra, is Hari.
विश्वरूपहितार्थाय त्रियुगी संबभूव ह
For the purpose of aiding Viśvarūpa, he appeared in three ages.
श्वेतरूपो हरिः सत्ये हंसाख्यो भगवान्स्वयम् द्वापरे पीतरूपश्च स्वर्णगर्भो हरिः स्वयम्
Hari, in the Satya age, took a white form, called Hamsa, the Blessed One himself; in Dvāpara, he took a yellow form, called Svarga-garbha, Hari himself.
कलिकाले तु संप्राप्ते संध्यायां द्वापरे युगे एकीभूता च देवक्यां जातो विष्णुस्तदा स्वयम्
When the age of Kali arrived, at the twilight of the Dvāpara age, Viṣṇu, united in Devakī, was born himself.
