गंगाकूले शांतिपुरं रचितं तेन धीमता
On the banks of the Ganga, that wise one established the city of Shantipura.
नदीवर्मा तस्य सुतो गंगादत्तवरो बली
His son was Nadi-varma, strong and blessed by Ganga.
गंगया च तदाहूतोभिज्ञो विद्याधरः स्वयम्
He was called by Ganga herself, and was recognized as a Vidyadhara.
विंशद्वर्षं कृतं राज्यं तेन राज्ञा महात्मना
That great king ruled for twenty years.
शार्ङ्गदेवस्तस्य सुतो बलवान्हरिपूजकः
His son was Sharngadeva, powerful and a worshipper of Hari.
दशवर्षं कृतं राज्यं गंगादेवस्तु तत्सुतः
Ganga-deva, his son, ruled for ten years.
तनयो बलवांश्चासीद्गौडदेशमहीपतिः 3.4.4.
His son, also powerful, became king of the land of Gauda.
पितुस्तुल्यं कृतं राज्यं नृसिंह स्तनयोऽभवत्
Narasimha, his son, ruled just as his father had.
राष्ट्रदेशमुपागम्य जित्वा तस्य नृपं बली
Coming to the land of Rashtra, the powerful one conquered its king.
पितुस्तुल्यं कृतं राज्यं धृतिवर्मा सुतोऽभवत्
Dhritivarma, his son, ruled just as his father had.
जयचंद्राज्ञया भूप उर्वीमायामिति स्मृताम्
By the order of King Jayachandra, the earth was known as Maya.
कुरुक्षेत्रे हताः सर्वे क्षत्रियाश्चंद्रवंशिनः
In Kurukshetra, all the Kshatriyas of the lunar dynasty were slain.
विंशद्वर्षं कृतं राज्यं सहोद्दीनेन वै ततः
Afterwards, he ruled for twenty years together with Uddina.
घोरवर्मा तु नृपतिः सुतः परिहरस्य वै
Ghoravarma, son of Parihara, became king.
तदन्वये च ये भूपाः शार्दूलीयाः प्रकीर्तिताः
In his lineage, the kings known as Sharduliya were renowned.
बभूव सर्वतो भूमौ महामायाप्रसादतः
By the grace of Mahamaya, prosperity arose everywhere on earth.
कुलं सकलपापघ्नं यथैव शशिसूर्ययोः 3.4.4.
The lineage destroyed all sins, just as the moon and sun do.
चाक्षुषांतरमेवापि महावायुर्बभूव ह
Then, at the beginning of the Cakshusha era, there was a great wind.
तत्प्रभावेन हेमाद्रिः कंपमानः पुनःपुनः
By that power, Mount Meru trembled again and again.
नभसो भूतले प्राप्तस्तदा भूमिः प्रकंपिता
From the sky, it descended to the earth, and then the ground was shaken.
सप्तद्वीपाः समुद्राश्च जलभूता बभूविरे
The seven continents and the oceans became composed of water.
शेषा भूमिर्लयं प्राप्ता मन्वंतरे लये
The remaining earth entered dissolution at the end of the Manvantara.
तदा स भगवान्विष्णुर्भवेन विधिना सह
Then, that blessed Lord Viṣṇu, together with Bhava and Vidhi,
गृहीत्वा सकलास्तारा ग्रहान्सर्वान्यथाविधि
Having taken all the stars and all the planets according to proper order,
पुनर्वै ज्योतिषां चक्रैः शोषिता सकला मही
Again, by the circles of the luminaries, the entire earth was dried up.
तदा स भगवान्ब्रह्मा मुखात्सोमं चकार ह
Then that blessed Lord Brahmā produced Soma from his mouth.
भुजाभ्यां भगवान्ब्रह्मा क्षत्रराजं महाबलम् 3.4.5.
With his arms, the blessed Lord Brahmā created the mighty Kṣatriya king.
ऊरुभ्यां वैश्यराजं च समुद्रं सरितां पतिम्
From his thighs, he created the Vaiśya king, lord of the rivers and the ocean.
पद्भ्यां च जनयामास विश्वकर्माणमुत्तमम्
And from his feet, he brought forth Viśvakarman, the supreme craftsman.
सोमाद्वै ब्राह्मणा जाताः सूर्याद्राजन्यवंशजाः
From Soma were born the Brāhmaṇas; from the Sun, the royal lineages.
