चंद्रदेवस्तस्य सुतो राज्यं तेन पितुः समम्
His son was Candradeva, who ruled the kingdom together with his father.
तस्य भूपस्य समये सर्वे भूपाः समन्ततः
In the time of that king, all the kings from every direction gathered.
पितुरर्द्धं कृतं राज्यं कुम्भपालस्ततो ऽभवत्
Half the kingdom of his father was given to Kumbhapāla, who then became king.
तत्पतिश्च महामोदो म्लेच्छपैशाचधर्मगः
His lord was Mahāmoda, who followed the ways of the Mlecchas and Piśācas.
म्लेच्छधर्मकरः प्राप्तः कुम्भपालो यतः स्थितः
The one who upholds the mleccha religion has arrived, for Kumbhapala stands established.
महामोदं समागम्य प्रणनाम स बुद्धिमान्
Having come together in great joy, that wise one offered his respects.
राजनीयां च नगरीं प्राप्तवान्मूर्तिखंडकम्
He reached the royal city, Mūrtikhaṇḍaka.
तत्पुत्रो देवपालश्चानंगभूपस्य कन्यकाम् 3.4.3.
His son, Devapala, took as wife the daughter of King Anaṅga.
पितुस्तुल्यं कृतं राज्यं तस्योभौ तनयौ स्मृतौ
He ruled the kingdom just as his father had; both his sons are remembered.
जयचंद्रो रत्नभानुर्दिशं पूर्वां तथोत्तराम्
Jayachandra and Ratnabhānu ruled the eastern and northern directions.
रत्नभानोश्च तनयो लक्षणो नाम विश्रुतः
Ratnabhānu's son, named Lakṣaṇa, became renowned.
समाप्तिमगमद्वंशो वैश्यपालस्य धीमतः
The lineage of the wise Vaiśyapāla came to an end.
विष्वक्सेनान्वये जाता विष्वक्सेना(विश्वक्नेना?) नृपाः स्मृताः
Kings born in the line of Viṣvaksena are known as Viṣvaksena kings.
गुहिलस्य कुले जाता गौहिलाः क्षत्रिया हि ते
Those born in the family of Guhila are called Guhilas; they are indeed Kṣatriyas.
वैश्यपालस्य वै वंशे कुंभपालस्य धीमतः
In the lineage of Vaiśyapāla, Kumbhapāla the wise was born.
लक्षणे मरणं प्राप्ते शुक्ल वंशधुरंधुरे
When Lakṣaṇa died, O Śukla, the burden of the lineage was carried on.
शेषास्तु क्षुद्रभूपाला वर्णसंकरसंभवाः
The rest were minor kings, born of mixed castes.
जित्वा बौद्धान्परिहरोऽथर्ववेदपरायणः
Having defeated the Buddhists, Parihara became devoted to the Atharvaveda.
शक्तिं सर्वमयीं नित्यां ध्यात्वा प्रेमपरोऽभवत्
Meditating on the eternal, all-pervading power, he became devoted to love.
नगरं चित्रकूटाद्रौ चकार कलिनिर्जरम्
He built a city called Kalinirjara on the Citrakūṭa mountain.
अतः कलिंजरो नाम्ना प्रसिद्धोऽभून्महीतले
Therefore, it became famous on earth by the name Kaliñjara.
गौरवर्मा तस्य सुतः कृतं राज्यं पितुः समम्
His son, Gauravarmā, ruled the kingdom just as his father had.
गौडदेशं समागम्य तत्र राज्यमकारयत्
Having arrived in the land of Gauda, he established his rule there.
पितुस्तुल्यं कृतं राज्यं रूपणस्तत्सुतोऽभवत्
The kingdom was governed just as his father's, and Rūpaṇa became his son.
शको नाम ततो राजा महालक्ष्मीं सनातनीम्
From him, a king named Shaka was born, who worshipped the eternal Mahalakshmi.
स्वभक्तपालना चैव तत्र वासमकारयत्
He protected his own devotees and made his residence there.
मिथुनं जनयामास भोगो भोगवती हि सा ।। 3.4.4.
She, Bhogavati, gave birth to twins.
स्वराज्यं च स्वपुत्राय प्रददौ भोगवर्मणे
He granted his own sovereignty to his son Bhogavarman.
महोत्सवं महाकाल्याः कृतवान्स च भूपतिः
That king performed a great festival for Mahakali.
कलिका बहुपुष्पाणां सा चकार स्वहर्षतः
Out of joy, she made a garland of many flowers.
