वायव्यां कैकयो देशो मद्रदेशस्तथोत्तरे
In the northwest is the land of Kaikaya, and in the north, the land of Madra.
देशनाम्ना तस्य सुता मगधस्य महात्मनः
By the name of the region, the sons of that great-souled Māgadha are known.
बलभद्रस्तदा तुष्टो यज्ञभावेन भावितः

शतवर्षं कृतं राज्यं काकवर्मा सुतोऽभवत्

देवानंदस्तस्य सुतः पितुस्तुल्यं कृतं पदम्
Devānanda, his son, attained a position equal to his father.
मौर्यानंदस्तस्य सुतः पितुस्तुल्यं कृतं पदम्
Mauryānanda, his son, attained a position equal to his father.
एतस्मिन्नेव काले तु कलिना संस्मृतो हरिः
At that very time, Hari was remembered by Kali.
बौद्धधर्मं च संस्कत्य पट्टणे प्राप्तवान्हरिः
Hari, having refined the Buddhist doctrine, arrived in the city.
विंशद्वर्षं कृतं राज्यं तस्माच्छुद्धोदनोऽभवत्
He ruled for twenty years; from him, Śuddhodana was born.
शताद्रौ द्विसहस्रेऽब्दे व्यतीते सोऽभवन्नृपः
After two thousand years had passed from the century, he became king.
षष्टिवर्षं कृतं राज्यं सर्वबौद्धा नराः स्मृताः 3.1.6.
He ruled for sixty years; all men were remembered as Buddhists.
विष्णोर्वीर्यानुसारेण जगद्धर्मः प्रवर्त्तते

अवन्ते प्रमरो भूपश्चतुर्योजनविस्तृताम्

कलिंजरपुरं रम्यमक्रोशायतनं स्मृतम्
The delightful city of Kaliṃjara is remembered as the place of lamentation.
अध्यास्य बौद्धहंता स सुखितोभवदूर्जितः
Having occupied it, the destroyer of Buddhists became happy and powerful.
अजमेरपुरं रम्यं विधिशोभासमन्वितम्
The delightful city of Ajamerapura, endowed with the splendor of order.
शुक्लो नाम महीपालो गत आनर्तऽमंडले
A king named Shukla went to the region of Anarta.
