विललाप भृशं तत्र हा बन्धो धर्मजांशक
There, he lamented greatly, saying, 'Alas, my kinsman, offspring of Dharma!'
दर्शनं देहि मे क्षिप्रं नो चेत्प्राणांस्त्यजाम्यहम्
'Grant me your vision quickly, or else I will abandon my very life.'
इत्युक्तः स तु तद्भ्राता बलखानिः पिशाचगः कथित्वा सर्ववृत्तान्तं यथाजातं स्ववैशसम्
Thus addressed, his brother Balakhani, who moved among spirits, recounted all the events as they had occurred, including his own misfortune.
दिव्यं विमानमारुह्य गतो नाकं मनोरमम् 3.3.26.
Ascending a divine aerial chariot, he departed for the delightful heavens.
तदा दुःखी स कृष्णांशः कृत्वा भ्रातुस्तिलांजलिम्
Then Krishna's portion, stricken with sorrow, performed the sesame offering for his brother.
वेणुशब्देन कृष्णांशो ननर्त जनमोहनः
With the sound of the flute, Krishna's portion, the enchanter of people, began to dance.
मृदंगध्वनिना देवो लक्षणः कांस्यवाद्यकः
The god Lakshana played the mṛdaṅga, and the bronze cymbals resounded.
तदा तु मलना राज्ञी दृष्ट्वा तद्वामनोत्सवम्
At that time, Queen Malana, seeing that dwarf festival,
कृष्णांशो बन्धुसहितस्त्यक्त्वा मां मन्दभागिनीम्
Krishna's portion, together with his relatives, abandoned me, the unfortunate one.
इत्युक्तां मलनां दृष्ट्वा कृष्णांशः स्नेह कातरः
Seeing Malana thus addressed, Krishna's portion was overcome with affection.
योगिनश्च वयं राज्ञि सर्वयुद्धविशारदाः
'O queen, we yogis are all skilled in every kind of battle.'
ये यवव्रीहयश्चैव तव सद्मनि संस्थिताः वयं तु योगसैन्येन तव रक्षां च कुर्महे
'Those barley and rice grains kept in your house—by our yogic army, we shall protect you.'
इति श्रुत्वा वचस्तस्य तत्सुता च पतिव्रता
Hearing these words, his devoted wife,
पुण्डरीकनिभे नेत्रे श्यामांगं तस्य सुन्दरम् दुर्जयश्च महीराजः कृष्णांशेन विनिर्जितः ।। 3.3.26.
Her eyes like lotuses, her body dark and beautiful; the mighty king Durjaya was defeated by Krishna's portion.
इति तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा मलना प्रेमविह्वला
Hearing these words, Malana was overwhelmed with love.
जगुस्ता योषितस्सर्वाः कृष्णांशचरितं शुभम् सज्जीकृत्य स्थितस्तत्र तालनाद्यैः सुरक्षितः
All those women sang the auspicious deeds of Krishna's portion, and, having prepared, stood there, protected by the rhythm of clapping.
कीर्तिसागरमागम्य ते वीरा बल दर्पिताः
Having arrived at Kirtisagara, those heroes, proud of their strength,
महीपतिस्तु कुलहा ज्ञात्वा कृष्णांशमागतम्
The king, destroyer of his lineage, knowing that a portion of Krishna had come,
योगिभिस्तैर्महाराज लुंठिताः सर्वयोषितः
By those yogis, O great king, all the women were plundered.
महीराजस्य ते सैन्या योगिवेषास्समागताः
The soldiers of that king came disguised in the garb of yogis.
इति श्रुत्वा वचो घोरं ब्रह्मानन्दो महाबलः
Hearing those dreadful words, Brahmananda, mighty in strength,
महीराजस्तु कलही सैन्यायुतमहात्मजः
But the king, quarrelsome, with an army and heroic sons,
तयोश्चासीन्महयुद्धं सेनयोरुभयोर्भुवि
Between the two, there was a great battle on the earth between both armies.
लक्षणश्चाभयं शूरं देवसिंहो महीपतिम् 3.3.26.
Lakshana, fearless and heroic, was like a lion among kings.
लक्षणः कामसेनं च देवो रणजितं तदा
Lakshana then defeated Kamasena, the god, in battle.
एतस्मिन्नंतरे ब्रह्मा बद्ध्वा वै तालनं बली
Meanwhile, Brahma, powerful, bound Talana.
लक्षणं छिन्नधन्वानं पुनर्बद्ध्वा महाबलः
Lakshana, whose bow had been broken, was again bound by the mighty one.
हाहाभूते योगिसैन्ये प्रद्रुते सर्वतो दिशम्
When the yogi army was thrown into confusion, fleeing in all directions,
ब्रह्मानन्दोऽयमायातो मम सैन्य क्षयंकरः
Brahmananda has now come, bringing destruction to my army.
इत्युक्त्वा तास्समादाय ब्रह्मानन्दमुपाययौ
Having said this, he gathered them and brought Brahmananda.
