पंचविंशाब्दके प्राप्ते कृष्णांशे योगतत्परे 3.3.2४.
When the twenty-fifth year arrived, Krishna's portion was devoted to yoga.
निर्ययुः कान्यकुब्जं ते जयचंद्रेण पालितम्
They departed for Kanyakubja, governed by Jayachandra.
इन्दुलः प्रययौ शीघ्रमयुताश्वबलैस्सह कृष्णांशो बिंदुलारूढो देवकीमनुसंययौ
Indula swiftly went forth with ten thousand horsemen; Krishna's portion, mounted on Bindula, followed Devaki.
त्यक्त्वा ते भूपतेर्ग्रामं सर्वसंपत्समन्वितम्
They left the king's village, endowed with all prosperity.
नत्वा तं भूपतिं प्रेम्णा गदित्वा सर्वकारणम्
Having bowed to the king with affection, they spoke all the reasons.
जयचंद्रस्तु भूपालो देवसिंहेन वर्णितः
Jayachandra, the king, was described by Devasimha.
कुंठितो देवसिंहस्तु गत्वा कृष्णांशमुत्तमम्
Devasimha, hindered, went to the excellent Krishna's portion.
त्वरितं बिंदुलारूढो हयपंचशतावृतः
Swiftly, mounted on Bindula, surrounded by five hundred horses.
दृष्ट्वा तं लक्षणो वीरो हस्तिनः पृष्ठमास्थितः
Seeing him, the heroic Lakṣaṇa, mounted on the back of the elephant,
निष्फलत्वं गतो बाणो विष्णुमंत्रेण प्रेरितः
the arrow, sent forth with a mantra of Viṣṇu, became fruitless.
नत्वा तच्चरणौ दिव्यौ कुलिशादिभिरन्वितौ 3.3.2४.
Bowing to those divine feet, adorned with the thunderbolt and other marks,
जानेऽहं त्वां महाबाहो कृष्णशक्त्यवतारकम्
I know you, O mighty-armed one, as the incarnation of Kṛṣṇa's power.
त्वदृते को हि मे बाणं निष्फलं कुरुते भुवि
Who else but you, on earth, could render my arrow ineffective?
इत्युक्त्वा तेन सहितो जयचन्द्रं महीपतिम्
Having spoken thus, together with him, he approached King Jayacandra.
नृपस्तयोः परीक्षार्थं यौ तु छायाविमोहितौ
The king, for the sake of testing them, caused those two, deluded by illusion, to be examined.
तदाह्लादोदयौ वीरौ गृहीत्वा तौ स्वलीलया
Then, the two heroes, filled with joy, seized them playfully.
मृतौ कुवलयापीडौ दृष्ट्वा राजा भयातुरः
Seeing Kuvalayāpīḍa slain, the king was overcome with fear.
इषशुद्धे तु संप्राप्ते लक्षणो नाम वै बली
When the arrow was purified, Lakṣaṇa, a powerful one by name,
सप्तलक्षबलैस्सार्द्धं तालनाद्यैश्च संयुतः
accompanied by seven lakhs of troops and warriors wielding palm-tree weapons,
रुद्रवर्मा च भूपालो गौडवंशयशस्करः
and Rudravarmā, the king, bringer of fame to the Gauḍa lineage,
याममात्रेण तं जित्वा षोडशाब्दस्य वै करम् 3.3.2४.
defeated him within the span of a yāma and took the tribute of sixteen years.
मागधेशं पुनर्जित्वा नाम्ना विजयकारिणम्
Having conquered the land of Magadha again, he was called Vijaya-kāriṇ.
पंचकोटीश्च वै मुद्रा राजतस्य पुनर्ययौ लक्षसैन्ययुतं भूपं कालीवर्माणमुत्तमम्
He obtained five crores of silver coins and again went to the illustrious king Kālīvarman, accompanied by a lakh-strong army.
विंशत्यब्द करं प्राप्य कोटिं स्वर्णमयं तदा
Receiving a tribute of twenty years, he then obtained a crore of gold coins.
उष्ट्रदेशं ययौ वीरः पालितं तैर्महाबलैः।। धोयीकविस्तत्रनृपो लक्षसैन्यसमन्वितः
The hero went to the land of camels, guarded by those mighty warriors; the king Dhoyīka, with a hundred thousand soldiers, was there.
जगन्नाथाज्ञया प्राप्तस्तैश्च सार्द्धं रणोन्मुखे अहोरात्रप्रमाणेन कृष्णांशेन जितो नृपः
By the command of Jagannātha, he arrived, prepared for battle with them; within the measure of a day and night, the king was conquered by a portion of Kṛṣṇa.
विंशत्यब्दकरं सर्वं कोटिस्वर्णसमन्वितम्
All that was acquired over twenty years, endowed with ten million gold coins,
पुंड्रदेशं ययौ वीरो लक्षणो बलवत्तरः दिनमात्रेण तं जित्वा कोटिमुद्रा गृहीतवान्
The valiant and most powerful Lakṣaṇa went to the land of Puṇḍra; conquering it in a single day, he seized ten million coins.
महेंद्रगिरिमागत्य नत्वा तं भार्गवं मुनिम् 3.3.2४.
Having arrived at Mount Mahendra, he bowed to the sage Bhārgava.
योगसिंहस्तदागत्य कृष्णांशं प्रति भार्गव
Then Yogasiṃha came there, O Bhārgava, to the portion of Kṛṣṇa.
