परानंदस्तथा देवं तारकं चोपनंदनः 3.3.23.
Parānanda, and likewise the god Upanandana, and Tāraka joined the fight.
प्रनन्दो वीरसेनं च ब्रह्मानन्दं स भूपतिः अहोरात्रमभूद्युद्धं तेषां च तुमुलं क्रमात्
Prananda fought with Vīrasena, and the king with Brahmānanda; their tumultuous battle lasted day and night in succession.
एतस्मिन्नन्तरे रात्रौ चित्ररेखा समागता
Meanwhile, at night, Citrarēkhā arrived.
चित्रगुप्तं तदा ध्यात्वा चित्रमायामचीकरत्
Meditating on Citragupta, she performed a wondrous illusion.
तान् दृष्ट्वा विस्मिताः सर्वे भयभीताश्च दुद्रुवुः
Seeing them, all were astonished and, seized by fear, fled.
पंचयोजनमागत्य ततो वासमकारयन्
Having gone five yojanas, they made their dwelling there.
हा कृष्णांश महाबाहो शरणागतवत्सल
O Kṛṣṇāṃśa, mighty-armed, protector of those who seek refuge!
तया विमोहिता वीरा वयं ते शरणं गताः
We heroes, bewildered by her, have come to your refuge.
तदा कोलाहलश्चासीद्रुदतां बलशालिनाम्
Then there was an uproar among the mighty warriors, who began to weep.
आह्लादस्तुऽतथा श्रुत्वा वज्रपाताहतः स्वयम्
Hearing thus, Āhlāda himself was struck as if by a thunderbolt.
एतस्मिन्नंतरे योगी कृष्णांशो भगवत्कला 3.3.23.
Meanwhile, the yogi Kṛṣṇāṃśa, a portion of the Blessed Lord, appeared.
शूरश्च दशसाहस्रैर्मकरंदेन संयुतः
Śūra, accompanied by ten thousand Makara warriors, was present.
जित्वा तान्सर्वभूपालान्गृहीत्वा विपुलं धनम्
Having conquered all those kings, he seized vast wealth.
तस्य शब्देन शेषांशो बोधितो बलशालिना स्वांके निवेशयामास कृष्णांशं योगिरूपिणम्
By the sound of that, the powerful one made the remaining ones aware, and placed the portion of Krishna, in the form of a yogi, upon his own lap.
स्नापयित्वा श्रुधाराभिः कृष्णांशं प्रेमविह्वलः
Overflowing with love, he bathed the portion of Krishna with streams of sacred water.
कृष्णांशोऽपि प्रसन्नात्मा स्वकीयां सकलां कथाम्
And the portion of Krishna, his mind serene, recounted his entire story.
चित्रविद्यां स्वयं कृत्वा पाठितां चित्ररेखया विवाहं कारयामास जयंतस्य तया सह
Having himself created a wondrous image with the art of drawing, he arranged the marriage of Jayanta with her, using a painted line.
बाह्लीकस्तु प्रसन्नात्मा दत्त्वा च विपुलं धनम्
The king of Bahlika, his mind pleased, gave abundant wealth.
शतं गजान्हयांस्तत्र सहस्राणि धनैर्युतान्
There, he gave a hundred elephants and horses, and thousands endowed with riches.
प्रस्थानं कारयामास बलखानेर्महात्मनः
He arranged for the departure of the great-souled Balakhana.
स्वंस्वं गेहं ययुस्सर्वे भूपाश्चाह्लादमानिताः शृण्वतां सर्वपापघ्नं कथयिष्यामि वै पुनः ।। 3.3.23.
All the kings, honored and delighted, returned each to his own house. Now, as you listen, I shall again recount that which destroys all sin.
महीपतिस्सदा दुःखी देहलीं प्रति चागमत्
The king was always sorrowful and came to the threshold.
वृत्तांतं च नृपस्याग्रे कथयित्वा स तारकः
After narrating the events before the king, that Tāraka—
एतस्मिन्नंतरे मंत्री चंद्रभट्ट उदारधीः
Meanwhile, the wise minister Candrabhaṭṭa—
मया चाराधिता देवी वैष्णवी विश्वकारिणी
The goddess Viṣṇu's power, the all-creating one, was worshipped by me.
तया दत्तं शुभं ज्ञानं कुमतिध्वंसकारकम् चरित्रं वर्णयामास तस्य कल्मषनाशनम्
She granted auspicious knowledge that destroys wrong understanding; he described the conduct that removes his sin.
इत्युक्त्वा स च शुद्धात्मा ग्रंथं भाषामयं शुभम्
Having said this, that pure-minded one composed a noble work in the vernacular.
तच्छ्रुत्वा भूमिराजस्तु विस्मितश्चाभवत्क्ष णात् ।। महीपतिस्तदा प्राह दिव्याश्वबलदर्पितः
Hearing this, the king of the earth was instantly astonished; then the king, proud with the strength of divine horses, spoke.
चत्वारो वाजिनो दिव्या जलस्थलखगाश्च ते
There are four divine horses, able to move on water, land, and in the air.
इति श्रुत्वा स नृपतिः श्रुतवाक्यविशारदम्
Hearing thus, the king addressed the one skilled in the words he had heard.
