कामसेनश्च कुपितो गृहीत्वा दंडवेतसम् 3.3.22.
And Kāmasena, enraged, took up a staff of cane.
गृहीत्वा भुजयोस्तं वै बंधनाय समुद्यतः
Seizing him by the arms, he prepared to bind him.
पुत्रानाज्ञापयामास तस्य बंधनहेतवे
He ordered his sons for the purpose of binding him.
सेनामध्ये समागम्य महद्युदमचीकरत् अहोरात्रमभूद्युद्धं दारुणं रोमहर्षणम्
Meeting in the midst of the army, a great battle was fought; the terrible and hair-raising fight lasted day and night.
हता लक्षं महाशूरा उदयेन महाबलाः
A hundred thousand mighty heroes were slain by Udaya, who was of great strength.
दृष्ट्वा पराजितं सैन्यं सप्त पुत्रा महाबलाः
Seeing their army defeated, the seven sons, mighty in strength,
स वीरो बिंदुलारूढो भूमौ कृत्वा गजासनान्
That hero, mounted on Bindula, having placed elephant seats on the ground,
इति श्रुत्वा वीरसेनः सूर्यभक्तिपरायणः तेनास्त्रेणैव कृष्णांशः सहयो मूर्च्छितो भुवि
Hearing this, Vīrasena, devoted to the worship of the Sun, with that very weapon, Kṛṣṇāṃśa, his ally, fell unconscious on the ground.
वीरसेनस्तु तं बद्ध्वा मोचयित्वा सुतान्वधूम्
Vīrasena, having bound him, released his sons and daughter-in-law.
हतरोषास्तदा वीराः कृष्णांशस्य ययुर्दिशः
Then, enraged, the heroes went in the direction of Kṛṣṇāṃśa.
महीपतिं महाधूर्तं मत्वा राजाब्रवीदिदम् 3.3.22.
Considering the king to be a great trickster, the king spoke these words.
बद्ध्वा स्वभगिनीकांतं स्वबंधुं मोचयाशु वै
Bind your sister's beloved and quickly release your own kinsman.
शीघ्रं गत्वा च नगरीं रुरोध बलवान्रुषा सौरमस्त्रमुपादाय दाहनार्थं समुद्यतः
Swiftly going to the city, he besieged it with force and anger, taking up the Saurama weapon, prepared for burning.
सज्जीभूते तदस्त्रे तु ब्रह्मानंदो महाबलः
When that weapon was made ready, Brahmānanda, of great strength, rejoiced.
दृष्ट्वा भयान्वितो भूपस्तमेव शरणं ययौ
Seeing this, the king became fearful and sought refuge in him.
धूर्तवाक्येन हे भूप मद्बंधुर्बाधितस्त्वया अतस्त्वं भगिनीयुक्तं स्वसुतं देहि मे नृप
With deceitful words: 'O king, my kinsman has been harmed by you; therefore, give me your son, joined with your sister, O ruler.'
इति श्रुत्वा च नृपतिर्वचनं प्राह नम्रधीः
Hearing this, the king, humble in mind, spoke.
इत्युक्त्वा वीरसेनश्च सुतं चंद्रावलीं तथा
Thus, Vīrasena gave his son and also Candrāvalī.
ब्रह्मानन्दोऽपि बलवान्कृष्णांशेन समन्वितः
Brahmānanda, powerful and accompanied by Kṛṣṇāṃśa.
मलना स्वसुतं दृष्ट्वा प्रेमविह्वलकंपिता
Malana, seeing her son, trembled, overwhelmed with love.
इति ते कथितं विप्र कृष्णांशचरितं शुभम् 3.3.22.
Thus, O brāhmaṇa, the auspicious story of Kṛṣṇāṃśa has been told to you.
इषशुक्लदशम्यां च कृतो राज्ञा महोत्सवः
On the tenth day of the bright fortnight of Īṣa, a great festival was held by the king.
भोजयित्वा द्विजश्रेष्ठान्दत्त्वा तेभ्यो हि दक्षिणाः
After feeding the foremost brāhmaṇas, he gave them gifts.
कार्तिक्यां शुभयुक्तायां कृष्णांशो बलसंयुतः
In the auspicious month of Kārtika, Kṛṣṇāṃśa, endowed with strength.
अयुतैः स्वर्णद्रव्यैश्च शूरैर्दशसहस्रकैः
With tens of thousands of heroes and gold objects numbering ten thousand.
एतस्मिन्नंतरे तत्र चित्ररेखा समागता
Meanwhile, Citrarēkhā arrived there.
गंगामध्ये महारम्यं यानं मायामयं तया
In the midst of the Ganges, a splendid vehicle, fashioned by illusion, appeared.
आगतास्तत्र राजानो नाना तद्दर्शनोत्सुकाः शतशूरैश्च सहितो दर्शनार्थमुपाययौ
There, kings of various lands arrived, eager to witness it; accompanied by hundreds of warriors, they came for the viewing.
चित्ररेखा महारम्या वाहीकनृपतेः सुता येन स्वप्नांतरे रम्यं सार्द्धं भुक्तं तया सुखम्
Citrarekha, the enchanting daughter of the king of Vahika, with whom, in a delightful dream, happiness was shared.
तमाह्लादसुतं ज्ञात्वा साभिनंदनदेहजा
Recognizing him as the son of Ahlada, born of Abhinanda's body,
