अनिमित्तानि सर्वाणि दूरमागत्य निर्भरम्
All these omens, coming from afar and in abundance, without apparent cause,
नराणामासनं चैव गवां वा मानुषीगिरा
If the seat of men, or of cows, speaks with a human voice,
अयुतं जुहुयात्तत्र राहुमुद्दिश्य यत्नतः 2.3.20.
There, one should carefully offer ten thousand oblations, addressing them to Rahu.
दधिमधुघृताक्तं च कुर्याद्दूर्वाक्षतं तथा
One should prepare offerings anointed with curd, honey, and ghee, and also with durva grass and rice grains.
चरुं च श्रपयेत्तत्र राहुमुदिश्य संश्रयात्
And one should cook a sacrificial porridge there, dedicating it to Rahu with devotion.
अतसी तिलशंखौ वा वासोयुगमथापि वा
Or flax, sesame, and conch, or even a pair of garments,
दुरितस्य विनाशाय तस्य संपद्यते शुभम्
For the destruction of misfortune, this brings about auspiciousness for him.
दृश्यते चाद्भुतं तेषु विशिष्टैर्दोषदर्शिभिः
And among them, a wonder is seen by those who are skilled in detecting faults.
मैथुनानि च सर्वेषां यस्य वासे भवेद्यदि
If, in his dwelling, all engage in sexual union,
धूमकेतुर्यदा व्योम्नि ज्वलत्पावक सन्निभः सबंधुरस्यते राजा परचक्रैः स पीडितः
When a comet appears in the sky, blazing like fire, the king, along with his relatives, is afflicted by foreign enemies.
दुर्भिक्षं मरणं चैव चिरं राष्ट्रे भविष्यति
Famine and death will persist for a long time in the kingdom.
गावश्च तस्य नश्यंति दारापत्यधनानि च 2.3.20.
His cows will perish, as will his wife, children, and wealth.
अब्दांतरे भवेन्मृत्युर्विरजा हि भविष्यति
After a year, death will occur; purity will be absent.
सप्ताश्वरथसंयुक्तं हेमच्छत्रविभूषितम्
With a chariot drawn by seven horses, adorned with a golden umbrella.
ऐंद्रेणैव तु मन्त्रेण होमः कार्यो द्विजातिभिः
A fire offering should be performed by the twice-born using the Indra mantra.
गृहमध्ये प्रजायेत केतोरद्भुतदर्शनम्
Within the house, a banner with a wondrous appearance will arise.
गृहे तस्य महोत्पातः केतोरद्भुतदर्शनम्
In his house, a great calamity will occur, with a banner of wondrous appearance.
दधिमधुघृताक्तं च जुहुयादयुतं कुशम्
One should offer ten blades of kusha grass smeared with curd, honey, and ghee.
नीलां धेनुं सवत्सां च बहुक्षीरप्रदां तथा
A blue cow with a calf, yielding much milk, should also be given.
दक्षिणां च प्रवक्ष्यामि यस्य नास्ति प्रतिक्रिया
I will declare the gift for which there is no remedy.
दक्षिणस्यां दिशि च्छायां यः पश्येदात्मनः स्वयम्
Whoever sees his own shadow in the southern direction.
एवमेवैव यच्छिन्नं शिनष्टि च ततो हितम् 2.3.20.
In this way, whatever is cut off, he cuts off; thus, it is beneficial.
उच्चावचान्प्रवक्ष्यामि यथा शास्त्रेण चोदितम् मैथुनं दृश्यते यत्र तच्च राहोर्महाद्भुतम्
I will declare the high and low, as prescribed in scripture; where intercourse is seen, that is a great wonder of Rahu.
शनिमुद्दिश्य जुहुयादयुतं शनिवासरे
One should offer ten oblations for Saturn, on a Saturday.
कृत्वा तत्रैव पश्येत शनेरद्भुतदर्शनम् ।। अष्टाविंशं चरुं कृत्वा ततः शांतिर्भवेद्ध्रुवम्
Having performed it there, one should observe Saturn's wondrous appearance; after preparing the twenty-eighth oblation, peace will certainly result.
भुजपदोस्तथा चक्षुःस्पंदने मरणं दिशेत्
Movement in the arm, foot, or eye indicates death.
कृष्णपक्षे भवेद्वामे विपरीतेऽद्भुतं दिशेत्
In the dark fortnight, it occurs on the left; in the opposite case, it indicates a wonder.
शतार्द्धं रविमुद्दिश्य शान्त्यर्थे होममाचरेत्
For the purpose of peace, one should perform a fire offering for the Sun, using half a hundred.
पुस्तके यज्ञसूत्रं च असत्पात्रे चरौ तु वा
If the sacrificial thread or the ritual text is placed in an unworthy vessel or on the feet,
हयमारं त्रिमध्वक्तं जुहुयादिष्टसिद्धये
One should offer a horse, honey, and clarified butter to accomplish the desired result.
