भोजयेत्स्नापयेद्देवो गंधतोयैर्दिनत्रयम्
One should feed and bathe the deity with fragrant waters for three days.
समीरणं ततो दद्यात्पेटिकायां निवेशयेत्
Then, offer incense and place it in a box.
ततो वै चाष्टमदिने रात्रावपि प्रपूजयेत्
Then, on the eighth night, worship should be performed again.
शिवलिङ्गप्रतिष्ठां च वक्ष्ये तंत्रमतं यथा
I shall now explain the installation of the Śivaliṅga according to the Tantric tradition.
नित्यं समाप्य च पुनः कुर्यादभ्युदयं ततः 2.3.19.
Having completed the daily rites, one should again perform the abhyudaya ceremony.
परिवारगणैः सार्द्धमर्चयेत्तदनंतरम्

One should give a cow made of sesame and gold, and also a real cow according to the rules.
पूर्णिमायां विशेषेण नान्येषां च कथंचन
Especially on the full moon, and never on any other day.
त्रिहस्तचरकायं च हस्तैकं चतुर्हस्तके
With a body measuring three handspans, and one hand, or four hands.
सद्योधिवासयेद्देवं द्वादश्यां स्नापयेदथ
One should immediately consecrate the deity, and then bathe it on the twelfth day.
कुंभे प्रजापतिं स्थाप्य श्वेताब्जं नवनाभके
Place Prajāpati in a pot, with a white lotus having nine stalks.
चक्रस्वरूपतो ज्ञेयं प्रदद्याच्च समीरणम्
It should be understood as having the form of a discus, and then offer incense.
पायसान्नैरुत्पलैर्वा पङ्कजैर्वापि होमयेत्
One should make offerings with milk-rice, blue lotuses, or lotuses.
श्रीसूर्यस्य गणेशस्य विरिञ्चेश्चापि सत्तमाः
To Śrī Sūrya, Gaṇeśa, and the excellent Brahmā.
रक्ताब्जे पूजयेत्सूर्यं परिवारसमन्वितम् 2.3.19.
One should worship the Sun, together with his retinue, with a red lotus.
एकाहमथवाकाशे गुप्तं कृत्वा दिनत्रयम्
Either for one day, or after keeping it concealed for three days in the open.
पुनश्च भोजयेद्विप्रान्दद्यात्काञ्चनदक्षिणाम्
Then again, one should feed the Brahmins and give them gold as a gift.
स्थापयेद्वा विधानेन सिन्दूराद्यैः समर्चयेत्
Or, one may install (the image) according to the prescribed method and worship with vermilion and other offerings.
पशुज्ञानं च कर्तव्यं षण्मासैः पञ्चमोदकैः
The animal sacrifice should be performed after six months, with five kinds of water.
प्रतिमां भुवनेशीं च महामायाम्बिकामपि
The image of Bhuvaneshī, as well as Mahāmāyā and Ambikā, should be (installed).
पूर्वेद्यू रात्रिसमये पिष्ट काष्टौ निवेदयेत्
On the previous day, at night, one should offer ground wood.
परिवारगणैः सार्द्धं पूजयेत्प्रयतः सुधीः
With devotion and a pure mind, one should worship together with the groups of attendants.
पायसान्नैश्च जुहुयात्त्रिदिनं लिपिपूजनम्
For three days, one should offer rice pudding and other foods, and worship the writing.
पशुदानं च कर्तव्यं विभवे सति सत्तमाः
If able, O best ones, one should also give away cattle.
ग्रहोपद्रवोत्पातशान्तिवर्णनम् यस्य ये ग्रहदोषाः स्युस्तेषां शांतिं यथाक्रमात्
Description of the pacification of planetary afflictions and calamities.
दिव्यंतरिक्षे भौमे चेत्येवं त्रिः परिकीर्तितम्
Whatever planetary faults one has, their pacification is described in order.
उल्काहितो दिशो दाहः परिवेषस्तथैव च
In heaven, in the sky, and on Mars, thus it is mentioned three times.
भौमं चाल्पफलं ज्ञेयं दिव्यान्तरिक्षमेव च
A meteor, burning of directions, and a halo are likewise described.
देवानां हसनं चैव कल्कनं रुधिरस्रवः सर्पाद्यारोहणं चैव दैवं तदपि कीर्तितम्
Mars is to be known as giving little fruit, and so too the heavenly and atmospheric (phenomena).
ततो मेघात्समुत्पन्ना यदि वृष्टिः शिलातले
The laughter of the gods, trembling, bleeding, and the ascent of snakes and others—these are also said to be divine omens.
