मण्डपोपरि कलशं संस्थाप्य मन्त्रमुच्चरेत्
He should place the water vessel on top of the pavilion and recite the mantra.
पृथिवीं च गणेशं च पूजयित्वा हुनेद्घृतम्
Having worshipped the Earth and Gaṇeśa, he should offer ghee into the fire.
महायूपनिर्माणप्रतिष्ठावर्णनम् वक्ष्ये तं च प्रतिष्ठां च रात्रौ त्रैरात्रिकं यजेत्
I shall now describe the construction and installation of the great sacrificial post; at night, one should perform the three-night sacrifice.
वरुणं सितकुंभे च प्रपाकूपस्य पश्चिमे
One should place Varuṇa in a white pot to the west of the cooking pit.
गंधद्वारेति गन्धं च अंशुना चेति तैलकम्
With the mantra 'gandhadvāra,' offer fragrance, and with 'aṃśunā,' offer oil.
कयानेति ददेद्वस्त्रं नैवेद्यं दीपचन्दनम्
With the mantra 'kayāna,' he should offer cloth, food, lamp, and sandalwood.
दंपतीभोजनं कुर्याद्वरयेदेकब्राह्मणम्
The husband and wife should eat together, having invited a single Brahmin.
पूजयेद्वरुणं देवं नारायणसमन्वितम्
One should worship the god Varuṇa, accompanied by Nārāyaṇa.
ततः कुशकंडिकां कृत्वा स्थालीपाकविधानतः
Then, having prepared a seat of kuśa grass, one should proceed according to the rules for cooking in a pot.
अन्येषां च स्रुवेणैव दद्यादेकाहुतिं क्रमात्
For the others as well, one should offer a single oblation in order, using a ladle.
वरुणस्योत्तंभनमसीति च आभ्यां देवांस्तथैव च
This is called the support for Varuṇa, and likewise for those two gods.
रात्रस्य यूपमित्यादि परं च दशमस्तकम् 2.3.13.
The post of the night, and so on, and then the tenth head.
इह वेत्यादिकं पंच ततः पंचाहुतिं हुनेत्
Here, beginning with 'iha vet', there are five; then one should offer five oblations.
चरुपाकेति नैवेद्यं बलिं चैवागुरूदनम् उग्राय असनायेति भवाय तद नंतरम्
With the phrase 'carupāka', the food offering is made, and likewise the bali and aguru rice; for Ugra, with 'asanāya', for Bhava, then next.
महादेवाय च पुनरीशानायेति च क्रमात्
And again, for Mahādeva, and for Īśāna, in order.
वाक्यपूर्वं सृजेत्तोयं तत्र वाक्करणं शृणु
With a preceding statement, one should pour water; listen to the formula for that.
( ॐ अद्येत्यादि ब्राह्मणादिसर्वसत्त्वेभ्यः अमुकगोत्रस्य मत्पितुरमुकदेवशर्मणः श्रुतिस्मृत्यायुक्तं कूपप्रतिष्ठाजन्यफलप्राप्तये इमं सु पूजितं सच्छादितं वरुणदैवतममुकसगोत्रः अमुकदेवशर्माहमुत्सृजे)
(Om. Today, etc., for all beings beginning with the Brahmins, for the person of such-and-such gotra, for my father named such-and-such Devaśarman, in accordance with the Vedas and Smṛtis, for the attainment of the fruit arising from the establishment of the well, I, such-and-such Devaśarman of such-and-such gotra, having worshipped and covered this Varuṇa deity, release it.)
मंडपे क्षुद्रकूपे च प्रतिष्ठां शृणुत द्विजाः
Hear, O twice-born, about the establishment in the pavilion and in the small well.
वेष्टयेद्रक्तसूत्रैश्च दद्यायूपं समुत्सृजेत्
One should wrap it with red threads, offer the post, and then release it.
पुष्पवाटिकाप्रतिष्ठाविधानवर्णनम् मध्ये वेदिं त्रिहस्तां च कृत्वा संस्थापयेद्घटम्
Description of the procedure for establishing a flower garden: In the middle, having made an altar three hands in length, one should place the pot.
अधिवासस्य पूर्वेद्युर्यथावद्विप्रभोजनम्
On the previous day of the consecration, one should properly feed the Brahmins.
नारायणं स्थंडिले च जुहुयान्मधुपायसम्
On the ground, one should offer sweet rice to Nārāyaṇa.
वेष्टयेद्रक्तसूत्रैश्च प्रदद्याच्चेति दक्षिणाम्
One should wrap it with red threads and duly give the gift.
ऐशान्यां यूपमारोप्य विधिवद्द्विजसत्तमाः
Having set up the post in the northeast, O best of twice-born, according to the rule.
धान्यं यवं च गोधूमं दद्याद्विप्राय दक्षिणाम्
One should give as a gift to a Brahmin grains, barley, and wheat.
तुलसीप्रतिष्ठाविधानवर्णनम् यजमानः शुद्धदिने एकादश्यामथापि वा
Description of the procedure for establishing the tulasi plant: The sacrificer, on a pure day or on the eleventh lunar day, should proceed.
ततो रात्रौ घटं स्थाप्य पूजयेत्परमेश्वरम्
Then, at night, he should place a pot and worship the Supreme Lord.
गायत्र्या स्नपनं कुर्यात्तथोक्तैर्मंत्रकैरपि
He should perform the bathing with the Gayatri mantra and with the other prescribed mantras as well.
त्वां गंधर्वेति च पुनः पुष्पं मंडंशनेति च
Again, with the mantra 'tvam gandharva,' and with 'pushpam mandamshan,' he should offer flowers.
वैश्वदेवीति च पुनर्मंत्रेणानेन चंदनम्
Again, with the mantra 'Vaishvadevi,' and with this mantra, he should offer sandalwood.
