हुनेत्पंचाहुतीस्तत्र यूपं दद्यात्समुत्सृजेत्
One should offer five oblations there, set up the sacrificial post, and perform the release.
बलिं च पायसेनैव प्रकुर्यात्कर्णवेधनम्
And one should make a bali offering with rice pudding and perform the ear-piercing ceremony.
दद्यादर्घ्यं हुनेत्पूर्णं भोजयेद्द्विजदंपती
One should offer a full arghya, make oblations, and feed a pair of Brahmins.
सद्वृक्षप्रतिष्ठाविधानवर्णनम् पूगाम्रादिफलैर्युक्तं वास्तुं कृत्वा यजेत्तु यः
Description of the rite for establishing a good tree: Whoever, having made the site with areca, mango, and other fruits, performs the sacrifice—
षष्टिवर्षसहस्राणि स्वर्गलोके वसेच्चिरम्
He dwells for sixty thousand years in the world of heaven.
नित्यं निर्वर्त्य विधिवत्पंच विप्रान्समर्चयेत्
Having performed it daily according to rule, he should worship five Brahmins.
अग्निकार्यं ततः कृत्वा दद्याद्विप्राय दक्षिणाम्
Then, having performed the fire-rite, he should give a gift to the Brahmin.
मण्डपप्रतिष्ठाविधानवर्णनम् तृणकाष्ठस्य च विभो तृणवत्तस्य च द्विजाः
Description of the rite for establishing a pavilion: O twice-born, for one made of grass or wood, just as for one made of grass—
अधिवासस्य पूर्वेद्युः शुभे लग्ने घटं न्यसेत्
On the previous day, at an auspicious moment, one should place the pot for consecration.
प्रोक्षयेत्कुशतोयेन आपोहिष्ठेति वै ऋचा
He should sprinkle it with water using kuśa grass, reciting the Ṛc 'āpohiṣṭa.'
आकृष्णेनेति तैलेन श्रीश्च ते इति चंदनम्
With oil, recite 'ākṛṣṇena,' and with sandalwood, recite 'śrīśca te.'
ततः प्रभाते विमले श्राद्धं वृद्ध्यात्मकं चरेत्
Then, in the clear morning, he should perform the śrāddha rite for prosperity.
मध्ये वेद्यंतरे चैव राजभिर्मडलं लिखेत्
In the center, between the altars, the king should draw a maṇḍala.
गणेशं च ग्रहांश्चैव दिक्पालांश्च घटेऽर्चयेत्
He should worship Gaṇeśa, the planets, and the guardians of the directions on the pot.
आदित्यस्य तथा विष्णोः सोमस्य द्वादशाहुतीः
He should offer twelve oblations each to Āditya, Viṣṇu, and Soma.
तत उत्सृज्य विधिवद्वाक्यमेतदुदीरयेत्
Then, having performed the rites properly, he should recite this statement.
वास्तोष्पतिं च तत्रैव पूजयेद्गन्धचन्दनैः 2.3.12.
There itself, he should worship Vāstoṣpati with fragrant substances and sandalwood.
( ॐ अद्येत्यादि ब्राह्मणादिसर्वसत्त्वेभ्यो विष्णुप्रीणनार्थमिमं मण्डपं सुपूजितं सूर्यदैवतं शैलेयेष्टकादिभिः सर्वसत्त्वेभ्यो रचितं श्रुतिस्मृत्युक्तफलप्राप्तिकामनया अमुकऋषिसगोत्रः अमुकदेवशर्माहमुत्सृजे त्रिगुणेन निशाक्तैर्वा वेष्टयेद्वारिधारया
Om. Today, for the satisfaction of Viṣṇu and for all beings, I, Amuka Devaśarmā of the lineage of Amuka Ṛṣi, having properly honored this pavilion, dedicated to Sūrya and made of stone bricks and the like, constructed for all beings and desiring the fruit spoken of in the scriptures and smṛtis, now relinquish it; or, he may wrap it with a triple-threaded cord or with a stream of water.
दक्षिणां विधिवद्दद्यात्सूर्यायार्घ्यं निवेदयेत्
He should give the prescribed dakṣiṇā and offer arghya to Sūrya.
घटे गणेशं वरदं वरं कृत्वा समुत्सृजेत्
Having invoked Gaṇeśa as the bestower of boons in the pot, he should release it.
मण्डपोपरि कलशं संस्थाप्य मन्त्रमुच्चरेत्
He should place the water vessel on top of the pavilion and recite the mantra.
पृथिवीं च गणेशं च पूजयित्वा हुनेद्घृतम्
Having worshipped the Earth and Gaṇeśa, he should offer ghee into the fire.
महायूपनिर्माणप्रतिष्ठावर्णनम् वक्ष्ये तं च प्रतिष्ठां च रात्रौ त्रैरात्रिकं यजेत्
I shall now describe the construction and installation of the great sacrificial post; at night, one should perform the three-night sacrifice.
वरुणं सितकुंभे च प्रपाकूपस्य पश्चिमे
One should place Varuṇa in a white pot to the west of the cooking pit.
गंधद्वारेति गन्धं च अंशुना चेति तैलकम्
With the mantra 'gandhadvāra,' offer fragrance, and with 'aṃśunā,' offer oil.
कयानेति ददेद्वस्त्रं नैवेद्यं दीपचन्दनम्
With the mantra 'kayāna,' he should offer cloth, food, lamp, and sandalwood.
दंपतीभोजनं कुर्याद्वरयेदेकब्राह्मणम्
The husband and wife should eat together, having invited a single Brahmin.
पूजयेद्वरुणं देवं नारायणसमन्वितम्
One should worship the god Varuṇa, accompanied by Nārāyaṇa.
ततः कुशकंडिकां कृत्वा स्थालीपाकविधानतः
Then, having prepared a seat of kuśa grass, one should proceed according to the rules for cooking in a pot.
अन्येषां च स्रुवेणैव दद्यादेकाहुतिं क्रमात्
For the others as well, one should offer a single oblation in order, using a ladle.
