दधिभक्तं बलिं दद्यात्पञ्चगव्यसमुद्भवम्
He should offer an oblation of curd-rice, produced from the five products of the cow.
शुद्धकांञ्चनवर्णाभां वराभयकरां शुभाम्
Resplendent like pure gold, bestowing boons and fearlessness, auspicious—
स्योना पृथिवीति मन्त्रेण पूजयित्वा यथाविधि 2.3.1.
After worshipping the earth with the mantra 'syonā pṛthivī', according to the proper procedure,
वामतो विश्वकर्माणं शुद्धस्फटिकसंनिभम्
On the left, place Viśvakarman, resembling pure crystal.
विश्वन्निति ऋचा तं च बलिं च मधु पिष्टकम्
With the 'viśvanniti' hymn, offer both the oblation and the honey mixture.
एकैकं होमयेत्पश्चा त्पृथिवीहोमकर्मणि
Then, for each one, perform the homa ritual in the earth-homa ceremony.
समुत्सृज्य ततः सेतुमिमं मन्त्रं पठेत्ततः
Afterwards, having released it, recite this mantra for the bridge.
ये चात्र प्राणिनः संति रक्षां कुर्वति सेतवः
And those living beings here who guard the bridge,
गर्तं कृत्वा पञ्चरत्नं संस्थाप्यं तदनन्तरम्
After making a pit, place the five gems immediately afterwards.
आचार्याय ततो दद्यादिष्टां च वरदक्षिणाम्
Then give the prescribed excellent gift to the teacher.
पोटिकां च ततः शय्यां दद्यादिष्टार्थसिद्धये
Then give a small mat and a bed for the attainment of the desired purpose.
तेषां पार्श्वद्वयेप्येवमारामे च पृथक्पृथक् ।। 2.3.1.
In this way, on both sides of them, and separately in the garden.
गोप्रचारवैशिष्ट्यवर्णनम् यजेद्विष्णुं सल क्ष्मीकमुपचारैः पृथग्विधैः
One should worship Viṣṇu together with Lakṣmī, with various distinct offerings.
उपचारैश्च ब्रह्माणं रुद्रं चैव करालिकाम्
And with offerings, worship Brahmā, Rudra, and also Karālikā.
होमं चैव यथा विष्णोः कमलायास्त्रयंत्रयम्
Perform the homa as for Viṣṇu, and for Kamalā, three times each.
एकैकामाहुतिं दद्याल्लाजादिषु पृथक्पृथक्
Offer a single oblation each, separately, with grains and the like.
त्रिहस्तमात्त्रं रचितं कुर्यान्नागफणान्वितम्
Construct an object three hand-spans long, adorned with a serpent's hood.
लाजासंयुक्तविधिना विश्वेषामिति सञ्जपन्
Reciting 'viśveṣāmiti', with the prescribed method using grains.
भौमायेति चतुर्थं च ततो यूपं निवेदयेत्
And with 'bhaumāyeti' as the fourth, then present the sacrificial post.
संपूज्य रुद्रं पञ्चांगं धान्यं वस्त्रं च दक्षिणाम्
Worship Rudra with fivefold offerings, grains, cloth, and the gift.
गोप्रचारे च शैलेयं यूपं हस्तद्वयान्वितम्
In the pasture for cows, a stone sacrificial post with two arms is to be established.
यूपं च चैत्रवृक्षं च कुण्डलीमठपीठिकाम् 2.3.2.
The sacrificial post should be made of the Caitra tree, with a circular monastery platform.
चतुर्हस्तप्रमाणेन शतकुण्डेन संमितम्
It should measure four cubits in size and be surrounded by a hundred pits.
भूमौ रत्नं च संस्थाप्य इमं मन्त्रमुदाहरेत्
Placing a jewel on the ground, one should recite this mantra.
गोभ्य एषा मया भूमिः सम्प्रदत्ता शुभार्थिना
This land has been given by me, desiring auspiciousness, to the cows.
स मुक्तः सर्वपापेभ्यो विष्णुलोके महीयते
He is freed from all sins and is honored in the world of Vishnu.
तावद्वर्षसहस्राणि स्वर्गलोके महीयते
For thousands of years, he is honored in the heavenly world.
सेतुं कृत्वा दक्षिणतः पश्चिमेंगाररोपणम्
Having built a bridge to the south, one should plant a fire-pit in the west.
ततः सहस्रधारां च शस्येन परिपूरिताम्
Then, a thousand streams filled with grain should be arranged.
नगरग्रामपूर्वे वा उत्तरे पश्चिमेपि वा
Whether in front of a city or village, or to the north or west,
