मध्ये आधारशक्त्यादीन्वरुणं मध्यतो यजेत्
In the center, worship Varuna and the supporting powers from the middle.
पार्श्वद्वये कर्णिकाया ब्रह्माणं चाप्यनन्तकम्
On both sides of the lotus, worship Brahma and Anantaka.
इन्द्राभिषेकमंत्रस्य वाद्यं गांधाररागकम्
For the Indra consecration mantra, the musical accompaniment should be in the Gandhara mode.
घनकंटकमस्यापि वाच्यं रागं तु गुर्जरम् 2.2.20.
For the Ghanakaṇṭaka, the musical mode should be Gurjara.
नाटकाख्यं तथा रागं वरुणस्यापि मे शृणु
Hear from me also the musical mode called Nāṭaka for Varuna.
ईशस्य नंदिघोषाख्यं वाद्यं रागोथ कामदः
For Īśa, the musical accompaniment called Nandighoṣa and the mode named Kāmada are prescribed.
रागो देवी वसंतश्च अनंतस्य निबोध मे
O Devi, know that Raga and Vasanta belong to Ananta.
सोमे घोषे भवेद्वाद्यं जलेशस्य महात्मनः
In the sound of the Soma, let there be music for the great-souled Lord of Waters.
स्वैः स्वैर्धर्मैश्च संगृह्य दक्षिणे पृथिवीं यजेत्
Having gathered each one's own duties, let him worship the southern part of the earth.
मण्डपस्योत्तरे भागे महादेवं प्रपूजयेत्
In the northern part of the pavilion, let him worship Mahadeva.
( महादेवं द्विभुजं डमरुशूलधरमुमासहितं ध्यात्वा ) गंधपुष्पादिभिर्भक्त्या भूतानि परितो यजेत्
(Meditating on Mahadeva, two-armed, holding drum and trident, together with Uma,) let him worship the spirits all around with devotion, using incense, flowers, and the like.
वेतालाश्च पिशाचाश्च राक्षसाश्च सरी सृपाः
Let him worship the vetalas, pisachas, rakshasas, and serpents.
मधुयुक्तं पायसान्नं वरुणाय निवेदयेत्
Let him offer to Varuna rice cooked with milk and honey.
पीतं शुक्लं तथा चित्रं श्वेतमन्नं यथाक्रमम् 2.2.20.
Yellow, white, and variegated—let white food be offered in due order.
क्षीरौदनं ग्रहेशाय शुक्लान्नं शशिने स्मृतम्
Rice cooked with milk is for the lord of the planets; white food is remembered for the Moon.
पीतमन्नं देवगुरोः शुक्रस्य सिततंदुलम्
Yellow food is for the preceptor of the gods; white rice for Shukra.
धूम्रवर्णं तु ताम्रं तु भौमस्य क्षीरषाष्टिकम्
Smoky-colored and coppery food is for Mars; rice cooked with milk and barley.
एवं बलिं विधायाथ अग्रे कुंभं निवेशयेत्
Having thus made the offering, then he should place the pot in front.
बह्वंगुलकं विन्यस्य विन्यस्य कलशोपरि
Placing the Bahvangulaka repeatedly on top of the pot,
शरावं च पुनर्दद्याद्वर्धनीं प्रतिपूजयेत्
He should again place a dish and duly worship the Vardhani.
सूक्तं यजेद्यथाशक्ति शतमष्टोत्तरं जपेत्
He should recite the hymn as able, and repeat it one hundred and eight times.
अनंतं पूजयेत्पूर्वं मानेनांगुलमात्रकम्
First, he should worship Ananta, with honor, in a measure of a finger's length.
राजतं वासुकिं नागं यजेत्पत्रांतरे पुनः
He should worship the silver Vasuki serpent again between the leaves.
पंचांगुलं तोलिकया लोहं कर्कोटकं पुनः 2.2.20.
With a cloth measuring five fingers, he should again worship the iron Karkotaka.
शंखपालं कुशमयमर्धपादेन निर्मितम्
He should make a Śaṅkhapāla (serpent deity) of kuśa grass, fashioned with half a foot.
अंगुष्ठे तोलकं पश्चात्पद्मनागं पुनर्यजेत्
Afterwards, he should offer a tolaka on the thumb, and then worship Padmanāga again.
कुर्याच्छैलमयं सम्यग्यथावल्लक्षणान्वितम्
He should properly make one of stone, endowed with all the appropriate characteristics.
ध्यात्वानंतं चतुर्बाहुं शुक्लसप्तफणान्वितम्
Meditating on Ananta, four-armed, adorned with seven white hoods.
वामोर्ध्वे तु गदापद्मं मध्यस्थाने व्यवस्थितम्
On the upper left, the mace and lotus, established in the middle position.
लाजैश्च तिलसंमिश्रैः क्षीरयुक्तैः पृथग्विधैः
With offerings of popped rice mixed with sesame seeds, prepared with various kinds of milk.
