यूप रक्षेति मंत्रेण खनित्वा च प्रदापयेत्
With the mantra 'Protect the sacrificial post,' having dug, one should cause it to be offered.
तडागस्य तथैशान्यां तथा प्रासादकस्य च
Likewise, at the northeast of the pond and also of the temple.
नौका गत्वा ततः पश्चाद्यूपमादाय वाग्यतः
Going by boat, then afterwards, taking the post with restrained speech.
गंतव्यं प्रकल्प्य तत्रैव आप्यायस्वेति वै ऋचा
One should proceed, having arranged it, reciting there the verse 'May you be filled.'
अंगदाय स्वाहेति भौमाय नम इत्यतः
With the mantra 'Oblation to Angada,' and 'Homage to Bhuma' thereafter.
कूर्माय नम इत्युक्त्वा पृथिव्यै नम इत्युत
Having said 'Homage to Kurma,' and also 'Homage to the Earth.'
पञ्चरत्नेन गन्धेन शंखेनार्घ्यं प्रदापयेत् 2.2.19.
With five kinds of gems and fragrance, one should offer arghya with a conch.
कल्पयेद्रोपयेत्तत्र हस्तं दत्त्वा पठेदिदम्
He should arrange and plant it there, placing his hand, he should recite this.
चक्रं सदर्पणं दद्यान्नागदंडशिरो गतः
He should give a disc with a mirror, placed on the head of a serpent staff.
एवं चक्रं पूजयित्वा शूलं नागांश्च पूजयेत्
Having thus worshipped the disc, he should worship the trident and the serpents.
गायत्रस्वेति मंत्रेण पठेद्द्वारद्वयं ततः
With the mantra 'Gayatrasva,' he should recite at both doors thereafter.
रक्तपुष्पान्वितं कृत्वा प्रणिपत्य प्रसादयेत्
Having adorned it with red flowers, bowing down, he should propitiate.
ततो भोज्यं ससर्पिश्च सहिरण्यं यथाविधि
Then, food with ghee and gold, as prescribed.
मंथरां वसुतां कांतां राक्षसीं च पिशाचिकाम्
Manthara, Vasuta, Kanta, the demoness, and the female ghoul.
पूर्णांते च पृथग्दद्याल्लाजाद्यैर्गुडमिश्रितैः
At the conclusion of the pūrṇāhuti, one should offer separately grains such as roasted paddy mixed with jaggery.
बृहत्पक्षाविशषोऽयं मध्यमे च कनीयके
This is the distinction regarding the large, middle, and small portions.
स्वाहेति जुहुयात्पश्चात्प्रणीतां चालयेत्ततः 2.2.19.
Afterwards, one should offer with the word 'svāhā,' and then move the ladle forward.
मन्दरे तोरणस्यैव विष्वक्सेनं प्रकल्पयेत्
At the Mandara gateway, one should establish Viṣvaksena.
पूजांतरेण यः कस्य जपेन्मन्त्रसहस्रकम्
Whoever, during another worship, recites a thousand mantras for anyone—
सर्वसत्त्वेभ्य उच्छिष्टमपि तज्जलमुद्धृतम्
The remnants, even the water left over, should be taken up for all beings.
ततो जलमातृभ्यो नम इति जलमातॄः प्रपूजयेत्
Then, with the words 'Obeisance to the Mothers of the Waters,' one should duly worship the Mothers of the Waters.
तेषामाप्यायनायैतज्जलमुत्सृज्यते मया
This water is offered by me for their satisfaction.
शिवाय सर्वभूतानां सदा पाहि जलाशयम्
O ever-auspicious one, protector of all beings, always protect the reservoir of water.
जलं विश्वोपकाराय कृतमेतन्मया सदा
This water has always been prepared by me for the benefit of the world.
त्वत्प्रसादान्महाभाग नागराज नमोऽस्तु ते
By your grace, O highly fortunate one, O king of serpents, salutations to you.
तेषां दोषैर्न लिप्येऽहं स्वंस्वं गममवाप्नुयात्
By their faults I am not tainted; let each attain their own proper course.
आपेया मातरः संतु जगतां वृक्षयोनयः 2.2.19.
May the Mothers who are to be drunk, the tree-born ones of the worlds, be present.
वरुणास्यासने कीर्तिं सनातन नमोस्तु ते
On the seat of Varuṇa, O eternal one, glory to you, salutations.
सुवर्णंरजतं दद्यादनड्वाहं पयस्विनीम्
One should give gold, silver, a cow not used for ploughing, and a milch cow.
वह्निपूजां पुरस्कृत्य मन्त्रेण प्राशयेत्ततः
Having first performed the worship of fire, one should then make him partake with a mantra.
